Default The little things...

There are so many little things that many people don't even ever think about but that losing weight might make you take notice.

I was talking to my sister about how just since starting to lose weight, workout and stretch that I am getting way more flexible. I have the tinyiest little stall shower that a thin person could barely turn around in (yeah I so hate it lol) and now I can like totally lift my leg all up and stand on one foot to wash my other foot easily. and it got me so overly excited about that fact. I felt so silly but it really made me start thinking of all those little things that I just deal with but never really put too much thought into before I started losing weight.

Things like being able to shave my legs without it being a chore lol. Being able to use a normal sized towl that will be wonderful! Being able to curl up into a chair, actually being comfortable sitting down normally or like cross legged. Carrying the groceries in and up to my apartment without feeling like I am gonna die. There are probably a million other things that I will start to notice more as I lose more but it has me so excited lol

This is so true. It is these small victories in daily life that are really what weight loss is all about, I think. It's true that the big things like how you feel about the way you look give you that big excitement, but weight loss just makes every SECOND of your life easier. Congrats!!

You are so right! Those little things mean so much. Let's see how many we can list!

Being able to bend over and tie my shoes!
You mentioned being able to shave your legs easily, ditto here.
Being able to talk after walking from my car to my office.
Buttoning my coat.

I am sure that I will think of more later.

I looked down the other night while I was sitting on the couch and noticed where my hip ended in relation to couch cushion size. I used to take up about half the couch, give or take. I could sit comfortably with one other person, or one hound.

Now I take up less than a quarter! I can sit comfortably with 2-3 other people, and 2 hounds! Or more!

I don't get winded walking up to my apartment anymore (I live on the 3rd floor). That is huge. I also have a lot more energy than I used to. It's fantastic... when I need to go out, I don't dread having to get up and get ready anymore. Now with more energy I am just like "okay, let's go" and I don't even thing about it.

These were some major "little things" for me when I lost my first big chunk of weight:

-being able to cross my legs
-being able to see my collar bone
-being able to paint my own toes
-being able to get in and out of the back seat of a 2 door car

Cutting my toenails is a breeze now, it was a breathless chore before.

Also, I live in a four-story house and I used to dread going up and down the stairs. I would make excuses not to do things on other floors or combine trips. (My house was usually very messy as a result of this.) Now, I go up and down the stairs all the time! It's not an issue anymore!!! And my house is spotless!!

I was in my mom's SUV one day and she wanted something from the very back before we started out. I climbed around the front seat, hung over the back seat, found what she wanted and brought it back. And then realized that just 35lbs ago, I would have had to have gotten out and gone around and opened the back door to get it. Not that much weight but it really made a difference.

I felt like a monkey and I liked it!

The leaning over to tie my shoes is a big one for me, too.

Booths!!! We eat out quite a bit and I love being able to comfortably sit in restaurant booths!!! Of course I've also learned how to be smart when eating out...now if I could just get my husband on board with me.
