Default cant exercise due to injury

and its a silly injury. 3 weeks ago, I broke my toe. The big one on my right foot, I was playing with my kids in the living room and just i was about to grab and tickle my 6 yrold, I kind of rolled over it. ER doc said it would be better in about 2 weeks, but its been 3 and I still cant wear shoes and can only walk with putting most of the pressure the out side of the foot, thats not to comfortable after while. When I do get better, I hope I can refind the motivation to start back. I just had to cancel my gym membership due to finances but I had been working out to fit TV. Gilad has some tough work outs and I like Shimmy also. Anyone else work out to Fit Tv?

Hi, it's me again! Just saw this post as well...

Have you seen your regular doctor? I know for some toes there isn't much to be done, but the big toe is really important, and you might need to see someone like an orthopedist.

I hope your foot gets better soon! It's a drag not being able to exercise much. Can you go swimming?

Best to check with your doc.

My husband is convinced Gilad is a total pervert. He can't stand to watch him, haha. But Gilad aside, yes I do like to use Fit TV. It's nice to be able to try different things and see if you like them. I've found some I like and some are total duds. While you can't do everything because of your injury there should be a few things you can do.

There's a great website, Active at any Size. It has lots of information, and while it is aimed at larger folks, it also works for those who are somewhat immobilized due to injury.

Hope your toe is better soon! I did that several years ago and it seemed to take forever to get back to normal. Since your doctor predicted a much faster recovery it may be time to go back to him.

Sorry to hear about your broken toe, but you can still exercise plenty.
You can do core exercises on the floor, with or without stability ball; you can do upper body workout with free weight, etc.
I think you can ride a bike as well.

I agree with Tomato. For years I found one excuse after another why I couldn't exercise. asthma, bad knees, bad hip, neck injury, sore this, aching that.
Find another way. Stationary bike, crunches, etc.
If the pain keeps up, see your doc.
But you go girl, diet alone won't do it.

I have several past injuries that I do not use as an excuse not to exercise. I broke my left leg 7yrs ago, 2 of those brakes were shattering my ankle and breaking my knee,. I was told I need a knee replacement but I was too young so I would just have to deal with it. With those the long lasting results of those injuries, it cause me to walk with more weight shifted to my left side which has damaged my left hip, damaged my neck in a car accident and my last pregnancy messed my low back. I still exercised. I walked, attempted jogging but could only do it on a treadmill, danced, did boot camp classes, pilates, yoga, kick boxing. But all that was at a gym and I had to cancel my membership due to finances and went through a mild depression. I am now out of that funk for the most part and just when i try to get back started again, I brake my toe. While I loved getting in the habit of working out, i never worked on the food issues so i pretty much maintained my weight, now that the toe is broken, I am gaining rapidly. So I will work on the food part for now till i can do more moving in the next couple of weeks hopefully. I have a tendency to go all or nothing so trying to avoid that this time and I think this is a good time to work on that.
