I'm extremely glad to see this post. I've been going through it a lot lately. I'm stressed, and I have no desire to eat. I try to force myself to, but it's literally forcing, and that's the worst. I've never had this problem before and I've come so far, the last thing I want to do is mess up my metabolism. I work out regularly, so I know that eating properly is even more important.

Today, I'm depressed, so while I have no "appetite" i'm craving some junk food, such as fast food, and I haven't eaten it in FOREVER..so I'm not sure where that desire is coming from. On one hand, I'm telling myself "it would be alright, I could use the calories" but then, on the other, I know that it would just make it easier for future binges...

I'm really torn. I just hope it's not my old depression rearing its ugly head back again...

Please eat! Even if you don't think you are hungry, have a little something but try and avoid what we usually think of as "snack" food like chips or a candy bar. Even a hard boiled egg and some string cheese or some fruit will be better. Aside from all the excellent reasons everyone has given you, if you start to get "hooked" on that not hungry feeling, you can really throw yourself into a dreadful (and potentially lifelong) cycle of starving then overstuffing yourself because, even though you don't *feel* hungry, your body will demand food to survive and send you off into mindless eating binges. Please take my word for it, being not hungry is not as in control as you think it is, and trying to retrain yourself to eat on a healthy schedule gets harder and harder the longer you let it go on. Now, go eat

mango683, If you "aren't hungry" but are "craving junk food," then your signals are screwed up. Eat the good foods you're supposed to be eating. Make sure you give yourself a proper serving size of foods, and try to finish them, but don't be adamant about it if you just can't.

Stay away from the fast food! That is not your friend!

I resisted the junk food craving and had a nice WW-friendly lo-fat wrap from Roly-Poly. I feel better now, and it tasted great. I'm going to get a good workout in and eat some fresh vegetables for dinner..not quite a king's feast, but it's a start...

I have to laugh a little at these posts. For years my response to stress (or happiness or sadness or anger) has been "let's eat!" I've dreamed about being someone who just lost their appetite...

Now, occasionally, I too have to remember that whether I have an appetite or not it is important that I eat. (Because otherwise I will really overeat.)
