Freezing Cold

  • I've lost a few pounds and I've lost a few inches. Now I'm cold seemingly all of the time! Will my body acclimate to having less insulation and regulate itself over time? Or should I start investing in more long sleeves and cardigans???
  • You know, it may not be the case with you, but when my calories go too low I find myself really chilly!

In general though I'm much colder than I was 49 pounds ago. I have quite a way to go though and imagine it will only get chillier. I love it! I can't wait to be a skinny person who always brings a sweater along. Right now I'm super tired of being the fat girl who's always hot.
  • How funny...I was noticing this last week or so that I am ALWAYS cold too!!!! I used to get cold fairly easily anyways...but now...it doesn't seem to matter what I put on, I am FREEZING!!! I absolutely can't stand being too hot though...so I guess this is a good thing
  • I used to feel hot all the time, thanks to that "insulation." Now I feel cold by comparison, but I remind myself that what I really feel is "normal."

  • It took me about a year to acclimate...I am just now starting to get more comfortable in "normal" temperature rooms. But you'll always be colder than you were with your insulation, even if you get to more normal levels.

On the other hand, with summer coming up, you'll be much less likely to get too warm!
  • In a word... no. I'm cold all the time, my hands and arms especially.

But the good news is.... when you're cold, you can just add more layers. When you're overweight and more prone to being hot, you can't just disrobe!
  • Yep, I'm definitely colder! Like others have said though, I'm looking forward to not being as overheated this summer when I go home to Texas for 3 months! It'll be nice to hopefully not sweat like a pig just walking outside to the car.
  • I feel so silly! Since I started my new way of eating (1200 calories per day) I keep telling my husband I'm freezing my you-know-what off. I'm constantly having to wear a sweater and pants, slippers, socks LOL anything to take the chill off... It never even occured to me that it was the loss of weight and/or less calories. LOL

    Thanks for opening my eyes!

    Karen

PS and .. I just now noticed - Congrats to all of you on such terrific weight loss! It gives me hope and motivation! Thank you!
  • 3 years of maintenance, I'm still freezing cold ALL THE TIME. I can't sit under an air vent at a restaurant, it makes me miserable. I keep a sweater/jacket in my car at all times.
