A friend told me today about a natural sweetener called Agave. I'm going to check it out when I can find it. Anyone familiar with it? I'm doing a version of atkins where sugar products are not allowed.

A friend of mine who's diabetic uses agave syrup because it's safe for him - it's low glycemic or something to that effect. However, I think it has about as many calories as honey. Or at least, it's above the 0-4 range.

I use Agave syrup. It has a very low glycemic index, making it safe for diabetics (which I am) and it is completely natural. It is the consistency and flavor of honey. It is made from the blue weber agave plant, and is available in health food stores and online. I get it from Amazon.

I have tried stevia, and I don't like the flavor.
