Hey Blessed,
As I said before, I eat packaged meals--specifically Lean Cuisine. I'm not one to cook, either, except occasionally, but I had to find a way that would work for me. Sometimes you can find these dinners on sale and they aren't all that expensive, plus you know exactly how much you are getting in terms of calories, proteins, fats, and so on. And there is a lot of variety.
ennay and sharonrr do have a point as well--you have to figure out what you CAN do, not dwell on what you CAN'T do or what you DON'T like, and so forth. There is a way; you have to find it!
It's important to eat all through the day. Your body needs the food, even if you don't "feel" hungry. You may find you eat less at night if you've eaten a decent amount during the day.
By the way, almond milk and rice milk are really good if you don't like soymilk--however, cow's milk is OK too, unless you have lactose intolerance.
Think of what you can do!
Jay

I am lactose intolerant to 2% milk and heavy stuff. That's why I am looking for alternatives.
And according to Fitday I've had 498 calories today, 6 grams of fat, 79 grams of carbs, 14 grams of fiber, and 33 grams of protein. Thought this might not be completely accurate, since the yogurt I ate had 100 calories not 160 like Fitday says. Is there a way I can put the info in myself rather than searching and hoping I get the right item?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

Have you tried many different varieties of soy milk? I hate regular, plain soymilk, but am very fond of the 8th continent light vanilla soy. 60 cals per cup, and its sweet..with Splenda and vanilla to make it taste absolutely phenomenal on cereal.

I tried Silk vanillia, and it was nasty. I figured they were all the same. I might see about the 8th continent though. I just wish they came in smaller containers rather than a gallon or half-gallon.

I thought the silk was nasty too - I had to try several brands before finding one I liked enough to use regularly, but now I'll never go back. I use it in other things too...for example, Bisquick Healthy Heart baking mix (trans fat free!) has a recipe on the back for blueberry pancakes that calls for regular skim milk, I used the vanilla soy milk and it both cut the calories and added in some sweetness to the recipe...super yummy. A word of caution, though, instant pudding mixes do NOT work with soy milk. Trust me on this one :-)

You can buy soymilk in 3 and 6 packs... they come in little boxes with straws (like juice boxes). I've never bought them because I don't have kids (I assume they are for kids' lunch boxes), but I always think they look cute!
BlessedBe, I have to agree with a couple other posters. You don't seem to be liking anyone's suggestions too much. So good luck to you whatever you do figure out... I'm sure you can and will figure out what works for you. I do hope you will try some exercise. I've had health issues myself, so I realize it's hard to exercise when you are lethargic, but you just have to force yourself. You'll feel better and better the more you do it. Best of luck.

It's not that I don't like them. They just don't fit my situation. I know other people have budgets, but they at least have jobs. I don't. I haven't for about 5 months. I'm trying the best I can, but sometimes I can't get all the perfectly healthy stuff cause it's expensive. But at least I'm trying, and trying to stay positive.
Oh, Mandalinn, I forgot I want to stay away from soy. I think it might be bad for my estrogen dominance. So I guess I'll have to try rice or almond. Ah well. I think Kroger sells it.
Oh! And can anyone recommend nice stuff to put on a sandwich? I want to try my 12 grain bread. All I can think of is peanut butter and that Simply Fruit 100% spread.

I rather liked the almond milk I tried in a steel cut oats recipe I got from one of the forums here. It has a nice nutty flavor. It's pretty low cal, too. I think the original unsweetened goes for 40 cals a cup.
As far as broccoli goes, no one is making you eat it raw. However, I do think that if you try several varieties of vegetables, you're bound to find some that you like to give yourself nice, balanced, colorful meals. I would get really tired of eating the same vegetables all of the time, which is why I'm always searching for "weird" stuff at the grocery.
I used to eat a lot when I was bored as well, which I think was my biggest downfall. It really is important to think before you put something in your mouth and ask yourself "Am I really hungry?" If the answer is yes, then you should eat something. Of course, the better your choices the better off you'll be. But even if you don't change what you eat, you'll still be cutting some calories by not eating when you aren't hungry. Also, cure that boredom! Come here and read, go for a walk around the block, ride a bike (if you have access to one, it's great fun and pretty low impact), take up knitting, basket weaving, whatever works for you. Although it's probably for the best that you take up some sort of exercise. Build up slowly. I know I am. Even small changes for the better add up to big changes in the end.
These forums have a wealth of information regarding those who have special dietary needs, as well as delicious ideas for snacks and meals. Everyone here is very supportive and wants to help you, if you want to be helped. That's the key. You have to be on this journey not because you feel others pressuring you to, or because you feel society telling you that you should want to be healthier, but because you want to change your life. A friend of mine who was trying to lose weight kept complaining about wanting to eat fast food and pig out, as if eating healthy was some horrible chore, and she finally realized it was because she hadn't had a moment of clarity that made her really want to change her life. Not saying that's the case for you, but it's something to think about.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

The most fast food I get anymore is Subway, with the ocassional pizza maybe once a month. Although sometimes I eat Digoreo's, however you spell it, mushroom and spinach pizza. It's pretty good and doesn't have that cheese sauce.
Also, is herbal tea okay to drink like all the time? It's pure herbal, not sweetened, and no caffiene. I love it. It might help curb my night and bored cravings until I get them under control more.

Tea is very good to drink. Try green tea. I sip on hot green tea a lot in the evenings to curb nighttime snacking.
Now that you've started checking out Fitday, you need to stick with it. When you find yourself wanting to eat from boredom, go there instead, it might be an eye opener. I mean, once you see the amount of calories in those occasional pizzas, you might realize that you just keep taking a step back for everyone you take forward. As for fish...I used to hate yogurt with a passion. But being good for you, I chose to find one I could stand. So I started buying one of each brand each time and trying it. And one day, I found one I liked...I thought. What had actually happened is I'd tasted the yogurt so many times, it had grown on me. So now I eat any yogurt.
But there are other lean meats you could eat, such as turkey or chicken. You could also look to eggs for protein. If you eat something small every 2 or 3 hours, you won't be tempted to pig out at any meal. And always eat breakfast is a good rule to live by.
As for exercise, start slow. I don't THINK it's anything wrong with you physically except...well...you're overweight. But I'm not a doctor and a doctor is who you SHOULD see, but I understand the no insurance. How is your parents' income? Maybe it's low enough to qualify you for an income based clinic. Check into it. But when I first decided to start running, I was already down to about 210 before I started. And I got about 15 total feet. I'm even a former open heart surgery patient, but my doctor didn't see anything wrong with exercise. But I took it down to walking 1 mile everyday until I got into the groove of that without breathing too hard, then added short sprints to my walk until I ultimately built up to being able to run the full length. Your heart will naturally speed up with cardio. Check http://www.freecycle.org in your area and see if anyone has a heart rate monitor they'd like to part with. One man's junk....
As for sandwiches, I sometimes take a notion for peanut butter and All Fruit myself, but I generally eat ham or turkey. I opt more often for a low carb whole wheat wrap over the bread and put a little light cream cheese in there with meat and veggies...cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, black olives, green peppers...almost better than Subway. Cheaper too.
You could also make egg salad or chicken salad and use either a fat free mayo or soy mayo. I know you don't like the soy milk, but maybe the soy mayo will be different. I think it tastes more like mayo than the fat free gunk. Ick.
As for the lactose, you said 2% or heavier. Can you drink skim without it affecting you physically? If you can and just can't stomach the taste, try the Broughton Super Skim. It tastes like 2% milk but it's still skim milk. And it's no pricier than other milks.

I don't know of any problems that drinking herbal tea would cause. I know a lot of people love to drink tea. The warmth fills people up.
I didn't see your post about sandwich toppings before, probably because I was writing my reply... but man, I love experimenting with sandwich toppings to keep my lunches exciting. Here are some ideas:
-Turkey with a little cranberry sauce and ff cream cheese. Tastes like Thanksgiving.
-Tomato and ff cream cheese, with a little Italian seasoning sprinkled on. I love ff cream cheese, and use it in place of mayo on sandwiches frequently. It's not just for cakes and bagels!
-Turkey and cheese melts (with one slice of cheese, I use mozzarella since I don't like the fake stuff and it's only 60 cals a slice) with some fresh spinach leaves and bruschetta to top it off (I found some pre-made near where they keep the olives at the store and it's only 25 cals a serving, I think).
I'm from the school of thought that nearly anything can be put on a sandwich. Get creative. I like to play with my food a lot, in the most mature way possible... haha. Even unconventional toppings can prove to be delicious (for example, some thinly sliced apple with your turkey). I'm weird though, so maybe that won't be your thing.

I have a protein drink mix I really like. It's made from milk and eggs, and actually has all the amino acids. Also you only use 2 Tbps rather than two large scoop deals. I've been wanting to mix it with Healthy Choice low fat vanillia ice cream and see how it tastes. Right now I use Northland Cran-Raspberry juice.
And as for cream cheese, you just reminded me of something a lady did. She mixed taco seasoning with cream cheese and made mini burritos. I could do something similar with....Mrs. Dash or something. And the tomato idea with seasoning is making me hungry for sun dried tomato flavor. I like that. I just didn't think of it or I would have been eating it. So I'll try that instead of the pb&j, though I may eat that once in a while.
And I'm glad I can drink all the tea I want, though what I am drinking now is a bit...ick. The herb taste is way too strong. I think it might use dandelion root, cause I think that's what I am tasting. Ah well.

I like hummus spread on a pita - maybe with sliced cukes, tomatoes, or whatever veggies you have or like.

You said it, not us. You're lazy. And that's why you're tired and you can't move. The more out of shape you are, the harder it is to get in shape. But its gotta be done. Start off slowly, and most importantly, be consistent in your exercising. Walking is a great exercise that anyone can do, though I personally know it is SO much harder when you're carrying even 20 extra pounds (and its free!). The only way you'll have more energy is if you get your cardio system conditioned and you take off some pounds.
Onto the food. You say you barely eat anything most days. I wouldnt think a person's metabolism is that slow, even on a person that hardly ever expends any energy (and this will, of course, slow down your metabolism). You see how the people on Survivor drop that weight. Yet you also say that you eat for comfort "a lot". What exactly are you eating for comfort?
Quite simply put, you are eating too many calories for what you are burning. That means you need to condition your metabolism to go faster - through exercise and eating frequently but healthfully; burn more calories throughout your day - through exercise and life activities; and eat less total calories. You signed up to 3FC a while ago, so I suspect you may already know this as I realize I'm stating the obvious.
You CAN do this luv. But it WILL take a lot of effort. However, the effort will be well worth it!

BlessedBe, I think you really do want to try, because you have kept reading and responding! That's a good sign... and also you've posted some positive ideas about things you might try. I hope you'll get some ideas here that you can use. Success is possible!
I like your protein drink mix--I mix something up like that myself sometimes, using egg, milk, and whatever fruit I might have around. it's a good change for breakfast--or really, for any meal.
I agree with Mami--you have to make a start on getting more activity. I realize it makes you out of breath and your heart pounds, but that may be because you are trying to do too much all at once. Just go out for a slow walk--not really fast, just a pace you can manage. When you feel like you've gone far enough, turn around and go back. Maybe it's really cold where you live? If so, you can find places to walk indoors.
Have you heard of the Yogi Tea brand? They have many good herbal flavors. One of my favorites is Egyptian Licorice.
I'm glad you're learning to use FitDay. It really has helped me a lot to keep track.
Good luck to you, Blessed Be!
Jay
