Not like this...
So my "feeling kind of sub-par" progressed into "trying to cough out my lungs" Tuesday, and now I think I'm going to need to see a doctor...and I've dropped four pounds in the past two days. I want to slim down, but not like this! I've been doing such a good job of slowly shedding fat, I don't want to mess everything up by losing lean mass...I've been trying to eat, but I'm just not hungry, and food upsets my stomach. Does anyone have any advice on how to stay healthy while you're sick?

First, get to the doctor! You need to know what it is you've got. Once you know that, do what you have to do to recover. It does not make sense to try to "diet" when sick. I don't mean that you have permission to go hog-wild with inappropriate foods.
What I do mean is that your body needs protein, fats, and carbohydrates, as well as other good nutrients and vitamins, to recover. Chicken soup? Sure, great idea. Not the fat free kind, either.
I hope you are feeling better soon!

Hi
I thoroughly agree with Jay...Get to the doctor! Pneumonia hits fast, and you just may be on your way to getting it! People DIE of pneumonia! Go, Girl, GO! Get to the doctor. Weight loss is of no use to you if you die! GO!

Heh, yeah, I had pneumonia once a few years ago...fortunately all I've got now is an upper respiratory infection and some acute bronchitis.
I suppose my problem is that when I'm sick I tend to be easily nauseated, and right now it hurts really bad to swallow, so it's hard to convince myself to eat much of anything...and given that I've been in a weight-loss mindset, it's even harder to convince myself that I should eat even though I'm not hungry or don't want to. I guess the mind can be a stubborn thing...this morning when I saw my weight I was briefly elated until I realized that the number really *shouldn't* be that low today, and that something was wrong.
Hopefully the problem will be short-lived...the pharmacist said the cough syrup should also help with nausea (although so far it hasn't much yet).

dont worry..eat if you feel hungry, otherwise just focus on hydrating . eat what you can tolerate. its better to have low calories and fluids that stay put then to upset your system and get dehydrated as well
with a sore throat think cold...my favorite sick thing is a smoothie made with frozen bananas, berries or peaches(fresh frozen or canned), OJ and cranberry juice. I whiz it up and drink it coooooold
the cold helps the throat, the fruit packs a wallop of immune boosting ingredients, and the unexpected sugar (since I normally dont eat that much fruit in one go) can help stimulate my appetite for the chicken soup
