Default Comparison and Curiosity!

So i read things all the time about what people weigh, various sizes... and i am curious. obviously you cant compare yourself to anyone else because of body structure, etc...etc..

but how much do/did you weight and what sizes do/did you wear??

i weigh 196-200lbs depending on the time of day and how much sodium i binged on and i wear a size 14 in most cases. some stores its a 16. in no stores, sadly, has it been a 12.

what about you guys??

It's strange, I see plenty of girls who say that they're 200 lbs and a size 12! That's deffinately not me.

When I was 230, I was a tight size 22, and now that I'm at 200, I'm a comfortable 18.

It's that horrid gut that I have, yikes!

I'm 5'7", 187 lbs, and wear a loose 16 (with a belt) or an almost-uncomfortably snug 14. I wore a size 12 up through about 170 lbs. I'm really looking forward to getting back to that, since most of my clothes are in that size range.

peak 180 something and a ~16
now 152 and a 12

does baffle me because I am pretty damn fit and a friend across the country who is the same height as me, never exercises, weighs 20lbs more and is a 10/12. People say I look thinner than her though

I was somewhere between 250 and 260, as a guess. I KNOW I was over 250, just not sure if I'd topped 260 or not. And I wore a 22/24. I had gotten down to 140 and was JUST squeezing into 8's, but wore 10's more comfortably (talking Wal*Mart pants here). Since the pregnancy was back down to 145, until the holidays, moving, etc...crept up and am about 148 right now. I can wear some of my old pants that were loose on me before (10's to 12's). Seems like I can wear a size smaller in Misses than in Ladies and one larger in Juniors. IE: an 8 Misses equals a 10 Ladies equals an 11 Juniors.

165 lbs - size 16 - 34 inch waist
155 lbs - size 14 - 32 inch waist

I topped out at 264 - that was a size 24...

Now I'm 160, my jeans range from a pair of 14's to a pair of 10's. Tops are usually a medium.

Hi!

At 5'6" with a large frame I wore/wear the following:

275 lbs.- 3x tops and 24W pants/dresses/skirts

245 lbs.- 1x tops and 22W pants/dresses/skirts

210 lbs.-Misses large tops (12/14 on the label) and Misses 18 pants/dresses/skirts

By the way, I mentioned to my husband about how female clothing sizes are numbers instead of the "by the inches" way that men's clothing works. He said, "You know, MEN would NEVER stand for that! That is WAY too much work to have to try on everything just because sizes are DIFFERENT in different stores!" It got me thinking... Why DO we have to have that problem? Is this only in the USA or is the WHOLE world of women's clothing playing the crazy SIZE GAME rather than measuring in inches?

I agree with you, Cheryl14! It's nuts! Especially the whole "vanity sizing" thing. I see women who say they wear a 2, and in the old sizing of the past, they would wear a 12 for sure.

I don't care much about sizes for that reason. It's all artificial. I like it when I can wear something smaller, though. I can get into my size 18 suits again (whatever scale they are on) and that makes me happy.

Wow . . . sooo different

I'm 5'5", my highest weight 202 and I wear 16 pant and XL top

my lowest 125, I wore a 6 or 8, depending on the cut of the pants and a M or L top

i am that upside down triangle, BROAD shoulders, especially for a girl and for some guys and narrower hips, but I am short-waisted and have always been thick around the middle. when I weighed 120, I had a 29-30" waist, but it didn't look like it because of my shoulders are so broad . . .

I generally now wear a 10-12, though I have clothes in my closet that are 6 (usually tops and dresses) and clothes that are 16 (usually pants or shorts). I don't think it's physically possible for me to go lower than a general 8 because of my height and frame, but I'm totally fine with that.

Sizing is pretty inconsistent across the board. I find that the cheaper and "younger" clothes are, the smaller the sizing runs, and vice versa. I mean, I'm an 8 when I go to Holt Renfrew, but definitely a 12 when I go to buy new bar tops.

Hey, I'm 5'7 w/ a medium frame, at 185ish I was a size 12-14 (more 14s), and now at 140-145ish I'm a size 8. Tops, I was always a large to extra large before (DDs baby), but now am a consistent medium, despite the boobs.
