Default Jamie Oliver talks on TED about his "Food Revolution"

http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/765

I thought it's a little depressing, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to hear these numbers again, and I found it thought-provoking.

his main point is that change can only start by educating people, because most people don't know how the food they eat affects their body

...

and I do love his accent

I really agree with most everything he said. I remember being in highschool (about 5 years ago) and the most popular item being a double cheeseburger from mcdonals. I was really so excited that it started selling in my school, and i would eat one everyday, with a coke from one of the many vending machines. I would see some people buying 3 or 4 sometimes, with chips and always with a coke. It's very depressing looking back, that my school reinforced such bad eating habits.

I also remember the school lunches... yuck! I always brought my own, because I didn't want to eat the pizza/fries/burgers/chicken nuggets/gravy with mashed potatoes/etc. We didn't have a McDonalds, but our food wasn't any healthier

I really hope that Michelle Obama succeeds with her mission to change the school food in the US... the kids would be better off!

I find jaime very dreamy, lol. it's not very hard to listen to his ideas.

I hope he and michelle obama can make some change, but i think a lot of parents have to demand it too. i personally don't know how parents can let this behavior by the usda continue; the schools are killing their kids.

I agree. I actually don't understand how parents are not concerned about what their children eat every day at school. They put a lot of trust into the government/school to provide for the children, but if you take a closer look at the menu, common sense should tell you it's not the best food for your kids.

I'm generalizing a little bit, of course... not everyone is blind to their kids' school lunch menu but I do hope that more people realize how important eating healthy is for their kids...
