I think other people's comments can work both ways.
One particular time I was with some friends queuing up to get into a club, and some lad behind (only looked about 17) said to his mate something along the lines of "I don't know why she bothers to dress up 'cause she won't pull anyway".
I wasn't feeling so great about myself that night, and it really did upset me. All the other fantastic comments I got that night were instantly forgotten and all I could think about was that one nasty remark, but that's how it is when you're feeling down on yourself isn't it?
I know deep down that I'm not 'ugly', although I also know I'm nothing fantastic to look at. The best of it was, this horrible little BOY was certainly no oil painting himself!!!
