Sorry about the delay. Peacock is right Red days (or Original as they like to call them at SW - lol) is much more meat based. You can still have potatoes, rice, pasta etc on this day but it is a measured amount that you have as either Health extras or Syns. They are not free on original days.

I like the green days best. I tried one red day last week and it was the only day that I was a little hungry. I have found that you can still have a fair amount of meat on a Green day anyway. I have had bacon sandwiches (85g of bacon - fat trimmed and 2 slices of wholemeal bread) on a green day. Another day I had tuna in my jacket potato for lunch and chicken salad for my tea 113g is quite a lot of chicken breast really.

I find the green days are far more convenient for me. I have been cooking savoury rice (batchelors) at home and taking it in to work to eat cold as a rice salad. Pasta and Sauce are another of my faves. Jacket potatoes and beans, tuna or cottage cheese are all free and easy to prepare.

Tonight I made a huge Quorn casserole.

Bag of quorn pieces (free)
Carrots (free)
Parsnips (free)
Swede (free)
Leeks (free)
Onion (free)
Potatoes (free)
Herbs, salt and pepper (free)
Vegetable Stock made with Oxo cubes (1 Syn per cube)

Really basic but very satisfying and low in Syns.

I stocked up on Quorn products last night:

Pork and Leek style sausages (0)
Cottage Pie (2.5)
Fillets in Mushroom and White Wine Sauce (2)
Roast Slices with Sage and Onion Stuffing in Onion gravy(0)

I am going to make a totally free roast dinner tomorrow night:

Quorn Roast with sage and onion stuffing and gravy
Roast potatoes (par boiled andthen sprayed with Fry Light spray oil)
Carrots
Cabbage
Broccoli

I would do swede but not sure I would be able to resist mashing it with loads of butter - lol.

I forgot to say that I found a Spaghetti squash in Sainsburys when I was in there the other day. Have been looking for one for ages - haven't cooked it yet. Will let you know how it turns out. Has anyone else tried one of these?

Does anyone else buy the individual cheese portions? They are great for healthy extras on SW and also for working out points for WW. I have bought 3 different varieties and if I still have a healthy extra left after my meals I just eat it as a snack. I am going to take one to work on Monday with a tin of baked beans and 2 slices of wholemeal bread yummy - baked beans on toast with cheese on top - yummy yummy yummy.

Thank god for Quorn! I love all of their products. Also, Morningstar veggie bacon strips and burgers are wonderful. Linda McCartney's vegetarian line is pretty good also. In reference to the pancakes (one of my favorites), I am on a low carb diet and have recently purchased Keto pancake mix (low carb and low cal), along with Atkins pancake syrup (zero cal/zero carb). I admit is not quite the same but a reasonable subsitute.
