Default London Running

Hi everyone,

I'm new, so nice to meet you all!

I live in East London (anyone else???) and there was a time (three years ago) when I got quite into running. I'm trying to slowly get back into it again to help weight loss and fitness, but London seems to be the worst place on earth to run! I have to get a bus to get to the nearest park (Victoria or Hyde Park) and I dread the bus journey back where I'm all sweaty from running about 10 minutes (lol).

Any ideas from Londoners? Does anyone else run?

I will join a gym I guess but it's not the same as being outside (and it's expensive!)

Love,

KK

Hi Kitkat
I am in Berkshire. My daughter is here weekends but lives in London during the week. I know she runs there and she has said Battersea Park or Clapham Common. Hope this helps. Bev

not a Londoner but I am lucky enough to live in the burbs and can pretty much start running as soon as I'm out the door. My problem is the actual running part :P
I really suck at it but I am 54 and have never done it so I'm starting slowly.
I have to be careful because I have a heart monitor on while running and it's been in the 90% of max zone a few times and don't want a heart attack either LOL!

Parkrun. google it. Saturday morning 9am 5k free timed.

You'll meet plenty of like minded people and come into contact with jogging clubs etc. London has more parkruns than anywhere

Ah, thanks! I will check out parkrun.

Am a bit nervous about running in front of other humans as I can't run for more than five minutes without walking, but I suppose I should just do it!

our park run has times for 16mins for 5k to about the 1hr mark, with ages from under 10 to pushing 80. Joggers appreciate effort. if your blowing and bright red and walking the encouragement you'll receive is second to none. Because its timed but not 'a race' i.e no medals etc its a lot more informal and people run together and chat on the way around. its customary to pile into the local café for coffee and bacon butties.
