Good luck to you!! It took me months to get the courage to do that, but now its just a number for me to track my progress. I've tried and failed before, but I am now committed to my health. Take time to find what motivated you!

Hi DungareeGirl, reading your post I felt like I'd written it myself, exact same starting weight! You've taken the first step in the right direction, now just keep at it and I know 2012 will be successful for you. Good luck!

I just weighed myself so I could track my weight and was so suprised, last time I weighed I was 11 stone now I'm 12 stone, I've put on two stone since summer and I feel I need to do something now before I weigh 14 stone this time next year...

scales are daunting, remeber to weight yourself at the right time, eg in the morning, and dont weight yourself all the time as you lose the pounds see how your clothes feel on you, the looser the more weight you lost

The scales are my nemesis. I'd been avoiding them for a couple of months so when I stood on them today I felt pretty awful. Sometimes I think they can be evil, I mean I know they shouldn't affect how you feel about yourself but they do!
I wish you lots of luck getting back on track!

The hardest bit is admitting you want to change things and actually stepping on the dreaded scales. I cried when I finally did and saw how heavy I was. Definitely try not to weigh too often either as your weight fluctuates during the week (says she who can't keep away from them).
I think it's never easy in winter as it's so grey, cold and miserable (in the UK at least!) and all we want to do is comfort eat, but start by making some changes and the only way is down

yea winter does suck, do some home exercises such as dancing and other toning stretches if you feel like curling up under the blanket, it will keep you warmer and help get you moving too (:

scales are evil little so & so's aren't they? haha.. another good way to see a difference when you don't also see it on the scales is to take your measurements... they will sometimes drop significantly.. even if your weight hasn't.

Yay to getting the first weighing out of the way! I also dreaded that about this time last year, but soon after became scale obsessed. Now I'm strict and only let myself jump on the scales once a week, and know that the number they show really doesn't mean everything!
Try to measure yourself too at the beginning of your journey, and then again once a month or so. The loss of inches is farrrrrr more amazing to me than the change in number on a scale.
Good luck!

Taking a break from the scale, but BACK WITH A BANG! When I'm back in the UK in April 2013 I hope to be lower than 168, which is from July 2012ish and the lowest I got before some regaining. Until then, it's all about good food and exercise and no obsessing over numbers!
