Hello, I have tried POF and continue to try there are some sexually motivated individuals on there but there are some ok guys too. You just have to weed them out! You can set your profile to block anyone from contacting you who has set their looking for as 'intimate encounter'. Once I had done that, I stopped getting the dodgy messages. You may have already done that.

The way I see it is, I consider myselfto be a genuine person on there, looking to meet a nice bloke so if I am on there and you are on there, there have to be men like us on there too!!

I had a go on Plenty of Fish, a few people I know have been very successful on it, one couple got married within months of meeting!
I met one person twice but wasn't the right time for me ... I think if you can weed out the players, and there are lots of them on! then you stand a fair chance of meeting someone special.

I just married the man I met online.. and I couldn't be happier. He's amazing and I think talking online for so long before we met allowed us to really get to know each other as friends first and we have a great, strong and trustworthy relationship. I got lucky I guess and found a great guy.... but if you don't put yourself out there... how can great men find you? go for it

I am far from the person to be taking dating/relationship advice from, but I've found meeting people through Meetup.com has been easiest for me. Online dating feels like a lot of pressure and I get pretty nervous in the one-on-one dynamic, but with meetup you're typically with a group.

That said, there's going to be a lot of times you go to a meetup and there's just no one there that you like and is single and is the age range you're looking for. And it isn't as active in smaller cities.

The upside is even if you don't meet The One, it's a good way just to make some friends and have a good time.

I don't have any personal experience with dating sites, as they didn't exist when I was still "on the market" - hah! However, my brother in law met his wife of 5 years on Match.com and as I remember, she was one of the first people he met when he started using the service.

I met my boyfriend when I was 18 on Facebook. Granted, he was a mutual friend of one of my good friends but I didn't know him at all. We talked for a couple months and then decided to meet. We have been together for over 2 years now and still going strong. There are a LOOOOOOT of creepers out there. Do your research on the guy before you meet. Some people get very lucky, and some have bad experiences. The key is just to be safe and open-minded!
