another go at weight loss

  • Hi all

I'm 42 and have struggled with my weight all my life. It's gone up slowly but steadily and now I'm 14st 12. My heaviest was over 15. It's been hard since I quit smoking 6 years ago but frustrating because I must have the willpower to do this if I can kick a 40 a day and 20 year fag habit!

I had a surprise baby in July this year after a 12 year gap since having twins.
After seeing a recent photo and trying to play on the floor it's made me realise the weight has got to go. i dont normally exercise so have ditched the car for thelast fortnight and walked whenever I can. i've signed up to my fitness pal to monitor food and exercise, dusted off the wii, fit plus and ea active.

I dont want to rush my weight loss and am happy with 1lb per week. I will find it hard to adjust our eating habits though as my cooking has always been lots of carbs, big portions and a tight budget. My family are already complaining!

I've always got lots to say so thanks for reading
  • Congratulations on quitting smoking. 40 a day for 20 years? That is quite an accomplishment. You made that commitment for your health and your family and you'll make this one, too. You can do it!
  • Thank you for your encouragement!

I should have made my smoking habit clearer I was on 40+ per day for about 8 years but smoked for over 20.
  • Hi and welcome hun, well done you for getting rid of smoking (quitting) and good on you for taking that extra step on wanting to lose weight.

The ladies on here are lovely and are always willing to help with support and advice.

    See you around chick
  • Thankyou Honey.
  • Very well done on the no smoking thing. That was a real achievement!

Looking forward to hearing your progress on the weight loss as I too am starting again.
