Hello!
Sorry I haven't been around much over the past week - been snowed under at work and haven't had much time at home either. Food and exercise wise I haven't been great- OH passed his PhD viva last week which of course is fab news, and he wanted to get pizza to celebrate. As it's a once in a lifetime achievement I agreed, and just had a couple of pieces, but then had more and some garlic bread, and some chips, until I felt pretty full and like I'd blown it. After that I was up and down all week, and had a bad weekend (fuelled by the hangover from OH's celebratory drinks on Fri night ) Got back on it yesterday but when it got to lunchtime I just couldn't face the salad I'd brought (it didn't help that half of it had frozen in our stupid work fridge!) so went to Tesco and bought a sandwich and some crisps, which led to having rubbish for tea etc. Back on again today and doing ok so far, gym tonight as well.
So all in all a bit of a 'bah' week for me. I am learning a few things though, mainly that I can't handle going slightly off track as it sends me right off. Not sure whether the best way is to try and get over this or just avoid it - I think maybe avoid it and try and learn how to handle it at a later date. Am also learning that too extreme doesn't suit me - chicken salad and an apple for lunch made me feel deprived but a chicken sandwich and Weight Watchers cookies (whilst not the greatest nutritionally) help me feel more normal. I am struggling somewhat to get back on and am thinking 'what is the point', but as I have mentioned before I'm getting married in 11 months and do not want to be a fat bride. Even worse, I am going to be my best friend's bridesmaid 2 months after that, along with 3 skinny minnies, and my ex who I haven't seen for 4 years will be there with his girlfriend so I want to look GOOD! I can do it, I can do it...
Sorry for the enormous rant - just typing is making me feel better. Well done on the loss Cat - half a pound is great! Keep up the good work!

Hey gals!
October has gone pretty well for me...untill it got bloomin' cold. Being cold always sends me into comfort eating. So for the past week I havn't lost anything. But at least I havn't gained and I'm not beating myself up about it.
Blodwen, I've been in your position so many times before. My advise is to try and learn to deal with "falling off the wagon" as it's happening.
So many times i've eaten 1 too many cookies or an extra slice of pizza and thought "well that's done it, I might as well eat more and start again tomorrow". It leads into a very vicious cycle. If i'd just had the pizza and started again imediately, what's that? an extra 300cals? It certainly wouldn't have "ruined" my diet.
It takes practice (it's taken me around 7-9 years of practice) but you'll get there. Goodluck and congrats on your engagement.

Thanks Ali, good advice there, and I think you are probably right, it is better to tackle it as it comes. Really I'd like to deal with it properly (having read Beyond Chocolate, Geneen Roth and the like) but I feel like I'm on a time limit because of the weddings, so just think if I can avoid temptation until then I can think about it properly afterwards. Of course, that ain't going to happen, but if I can minimise times of temptation I will try and plan treats in and not freak out if I go over a bit. It's good to be able to discuss this, thank you Just looking at your stats you're doing fantastically well and well done for not gaining this week!

Hi Ladies
Well the battery on my laptop crapped out a couple of days ago so i've been without communication thought I could just go to the store and buy one but NO you have to order them and they don't come cheap so I went out today and bought myself a new desktop wireless, touch screen still playing with it 3hrs later I love it funny how you get used to one I keep missing the 'shift' key on the left thats annoying but i'll get used to it. My laptop is XP this one is Windows 7 so got to figure out the differences as well but i'll get used to that too
Hi Blodwen
So glad to hear that your OH passed his test thats wonderful news. Don't beat yourself up about having a 'bah' week just get back to it. I didn't do that great either. I'm having a hard time fitting in exercise think I only 'boxed' once maybe twice last week so got to work on that hence only managed another half pound loss this week but i'll take it
Have a Great Weekend Ladies

Hello again!
I know, I have been very bad! No exercise, no watching what I eat, no weighing and WORSE no posting!
Cathy, how is your EA 30 day challenge going? I am thinking about giving it a try but don't know what it is like!! Is it tough, fun, scary.....???
I'm on half term this week, DH is home and we are planning foody nights and busy days - I think the foody nights will work, I'm plotting an Indian feast (oddly they are usually low cal).
I'm determined to get back on track this time. I wil I will I will I will....

Well looky here its that bad Stef Well Stef (hangs head in shame) I only did 3 days of the 'challenge' then the weekend came between me and it and the rest as they say is 'history' so now i'm back to Golds gym cardio workout (boxing) and loving it happy to say I worked out last night and tonight the only thing I didn't like about EA was the squats they have a meter and you have to go waaaaay down before it lets you come back up I can honestly say I was crouching down not squatting!! the rest was fine I will do it at some point just not now I like golds gym too much
Now where are the rest of them I know Blodwen is busy so i'll let her off..for now

Hello all
I am here and having a quick read now and then but still really busy in work
Stef- good to hear you're determined to get back on track. How's it going?
How's the boxing going Cat? Those squats sound brutal!
I'm on track atm and started the week well with the gym on mon and Tues. Wanted to go last night as well (yes, actually WANTED to) but a longstanding back injury which turns up intermittently has flared up, probably aggravated by the stretching at the gym on Monday, and last night I could hardly bend or walk Have an appointment to see a chiropractor tonight so will see if he can fix me - I hope so as I really do want to get back into the gym and I'm going to a zumba class on Sunday with my friend so don't want to miss that. Have come into work early today so I can leave a bit early for the appointment but so far my work has only consisted of drinking coffee and posting on here, oops!
Anyway, better go and do something! Hope you're having a good week ladies
