Default Walking from London to Aberdeen!

*warning this post mentions Christmas*

I've had a great idea to get me back into walking again.

I have set up a chart with pics of London in Summer & Aberdeen at Christmas and I intend to walk the equivalent distance between now at Christmas Day and mark them off on the chart.

It's 126 days until Christmas and 5k a day (or 3.1miles) is the amount I have to walk to get there.

As an additional bonus, if I meet my target, I'm going to visit Scotland in the New Year!

I used this site to get a radius of places within 630km:

http://www.freemaptools.com/radius-from-uk-postcode.htm

I know Christmas IS a long way off, but if anyone wants to join me on this virtual trek, I'd love to have the company!

1st 5k under my belt, and it was raining. I must admit the sticker chart is a motivator (I'm such a kid)

Louise,
I love reading posts in the UK forum because it reminds me of my happy 3 months that I spent in the UK (as a student) in 1922. I leaving the day before Princess Diana was rushed to the hospital (to give birth to William).
I just wanted to say that that's a splendid pic of you - I love the red dress!

I'm American, so what's 5k in miles? You're English, you're supposed to use miles...you Europhile!
Sheesh, the math is not that difficult - 5 km is 3.13 miles.

It's 3.1 miles. I like 5k as it sound more! Plus I did the Race for Life - a 5k woman's event for Cancer Research - and that was 5k, so I've been converted to metric!

lol I have teeny sparkly silver stars that I put everywhere (in my wallet for eg) to remind myself I'm meant to be on plan lol!

Thanks, the dress was from the photo shoot, I tried to buy it but they had sold out in the shop where the stylist got it from. (Photo shoot was for a slimming mag, when I had lost 28lbs- I'm 10lbs heavier now tho )

lol was that 1982 you were in London?

Oh gosh, yes, sorry, that was a typo that I did not catch. LOL! I typically do not proofread what I type, hence the results.

Glad I'm not the only one that does that!

I'm up now to do the next 5k. Plan is to plot the linear route so I can tell everone where I am along the route, virtually speaking.

Christmas, she mentioned Christmas

It is closer than we think. It has a habit of creeping up on us

I'm doing something similar except I'm walking from John O'Groats to Lands End, and I don't have a specific date - I just keep adding on.

I was doing really well then we went away on holiday and I've been lazy since we got back. Plus the weather's been terrible plus my daughter's home from school and can't walk as far as I can. Although we did do a 3-miler yesterday.

Excuses I know!!

That's great Robsia! I love the ticker.....that is a long way, but I like the idea of no deadline....I'm still motivated to aim for Christmas Day, but I'm happy to be more accommodating rather than give up completely if necessary.
