Its a perfect Spring day here.... bright sunshine with a cold breeze. I was out at 6.30 with the dogs and was only wearing a denim jacket. (Plus jeans, T shirt, undies, socks and trainers, of course!)

CG, Blummin heck! I can't keep up with your weather!!!! Last thing I knew it was in the 80s and muggy.... now you've got frost! Has it been like this in other years? Good luck with getting your lamb - I must admit I wish I could send you some of ours - we recently went to the farm where we get our meat and the spring lamb was on offer so I bought LOADS - the problem is that I now only eat meat once a week, generally on Sundays, so I like to do a roast and the majority of the roasting type meat I've got in the freezer is lamb .... I never thought I could get bored of it but I certainly am now. I cheated for this week's Sunday dinner - I bought a duck.

Hi Chris - yes, you're right about my neighbours - but we could have a lot worse. They might drive me mad but I know that if there were to be an emergency that I can count on them completely - and when the noise gets unbearably I can ask them to turn it down a bit and they'll do so immediately and not take offence. I think they got the hint that I wasn't any too happy yesterday....

Glad to see that you're enjoying your job! Did your hair all stand up on end with the static electricity from the balloons?

Wanna, I'm maybe not the best person to ask at the moment about motivation, but why not take a day or two to step back and think through what you've got to do for your health - maybe do some research on the internet - its a good idea to make a list of the foods you CAN eat rather than focusing on the foods you can't eat. I'm fairly surprised that you've been told to restrict carbs because of PCOS - the recommendations that I've seen have been for PCOS sufferers to stick to a low GI / low fat diet - I suppose that could be classed as restricting carbs but low GI food is lovely - definitely not a hardship to eat..... As for reducing salt .... I have to stick to a low salt diet because of my blood pressure and it honestly doesn't take long for it to become second nature not to add salt to your food either at the table or while cooking. I don't have normal salt in the house - haven't for years - instead I get a product called Lo-Salt which is a reduced sodium salt - Sainsbury (and probably Tesco) do an own brand equivalent. Good luck!

Oh, Pat, where you live sounds lovely! I'd happily give up my village pubs to live in the deep countryside like you do.

Good Morning!
It is beautiful weather here today too! I'm driving down to London this afternoon for a christening tomorrow, so I'm hoping it stays nice.

I have PCOS too and I've been told that when I do finally start eating again (currently on LL) I should try to stick to low GI foods. Apparently it's the "bad carbs" that cause all the problems with us. I'd not heard about reducing salt before, although I hardly add it to anything anyway.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter Sunday

Emma

The low salt diet isn't for PCOS, it's for tinnitus. To be honest, I add salt to virtually nothing anyway, but I tend to eat tinned soup/beans etc at lunch time which I know have a lot of salt in them. I just can't get my head round any of this at the moment, I'm right at the end of my degree and feel like I'm being stretched in a hundred different directions. I had a moment of weakness a couple of days ago and got a takeaway, then ate some chocolate. I've also struggled to find the time to exercise, but I still don't think that justifies the 4.5lbs I've put on this week. I'm thinking of going to the doctor for help on losing weight, maybe ask for Metformin or something.

I'm smothered in blue paint - there isn't much wind today but there's enough to blow back the paint all over me

Veggie - I like it that the shops are shut - personally I'd love it if they were shut every Sunday, like they used to be. I'm not a religious person but it really did used to be nice that there was one day a week that was a bit special.

Wana - Its probably come as a shock and you need time to get adjusted to it. Don't worry too much - it sounds to me that what you'll need to eat for your PCOS and tinnitus is pretty much the same as I need to eat for my high blood pressure and hypoglycemia and, I promise, there's plenty of choice. Baked beans are okay, just chose the low sugar/low salt kind and, as for soups, its dead easy to make your own and a lot tastier, healthier and cheaper.

Chris my fish and chips was yummy, I ate every morsel, delicious. We had fun my best friends brother lives overseas and he was home, so my brother and his girlfriend came too. We have all known each other for 30 years (except for my bro's girlfriend) and in our 20's we all worked together. It's funny how nothing changes with people like that, we laughed all night.

Freezing here, I'm going crazy, Spring just needs to get here and stay. We get one good day and then it's freezing again. Sarah our weather is ridiculous, this time of the year it's all over the place.

I'm in pain today, yesterday morning was a crazy class, then I ran 6 miles, so I'm achy. I took a long walk but the rest of the day will be restful. I do have to go work at my other job for a few.

Tonight me, the couch and a movie

Sarah our weather has been not normal first much warmer than normal and now much colder. All the fruit farmers are going crazy trying to save their crops as everything bloomed earlier and now it looks as if they will lose their crops.

Lamb is very expensive here and I never buy it. Also you don't find a lot of it. I do enjoy a nice piece of lamb.

Just got back from an easter egg hunt with my youngest. She found a few eggs but it's always the same a few kids with a ton of eggs and the rest with hardly any I do not like them.

I need to go to Honeybaked Ham and get my stuff for tomorrow. I have a gift certificate to use so it will be a treat.

Stay warm.

Hello girls

RSG I'm with you and wanting spring to appear...every time I ask where it's gone from last week these codders just look at me and give a little smile... and there's snow in the forecast tonight too... It's April, winter is OVER!!! I feel so for the little one's going on egg hunts tomorrow, it's supposed to be cold and windy...poor little mites. Glad you enjoyed the fish & chips...what was the pub called, sound like you had a great time with your brother and friends...isn't it wonderful to get with people you've been with for ever, I am like that when I get with Cg, it's like we've not been apart...I do love her so.

CG, gald to hear H got a few eggs today, i'll have to train her how to take the other kids down Did you get your ham.

Sarah, good to know that you were wearing all your neccessary items along with your denim jacket...why are you covered in blue paint? Are you paintng the fence blue? I'm glad to hear that you're neighbours, although a pain in the bum are dependable when you need them, shame they can't stop their Johnboy routine though, at least you've got enough of the in you to get them back though, you're def my kind of woman

I've got lamb ready for tomorrow and we're having fresh broccoli, asparagus, carrots and peas with it. We're aslo going out for breakfast, J has said he'll buy...so we're not turning down the offer. So tomorrow will not be a fat free day, I think I'm going to order big fluffy pancakes with syrup drooling all over them....

Hi Veggie... what's that wedding all about then?

My cousin is getting married this year, she 29 and has been a personal stewardess for high faluting people like the president of Syria and such....she's getting married in marlow in July and my mum was talking to my Aunt about details last night and it's going to be very high society...my Uncle has been told he can't swear...maybe it'll be like the one you watched....the reception is being held in a tented marquee in the grounds of somewhere or other, the grrom is the son of a high faluting council person for the government in Scotland....it all sounds pretty posh...Mum's going, so is on the look out for a new hat. I shall look forward to the pictures.

Ok, going to go and veg in front of the telly with a coffee

Morning!

RSG - That sounds like a GREAT evening. Its so nice when people haven't changed over the years. Nothing more disappointing that looking forward to seeing someone you were very close to from your past and then finding that they've turned in to someone you don't like. Glad you enjoyed those fish & chips.

CG - How sad about Hannah and the eggs - are you going to do her a little easter egg hunt of her own. I used to love doing that with Vicki.

I hope you all get your Spring soon - ours is lovely - the daffodils are going over and the tulips are all coming out now. I walked through the village yesterday and it looks (for a change) very pretty with all the trees smothered in blossom.

How sad about the farmers and their fruit trees. Shame I can't send you some of the lamb in my freezer.

Chris - This John boy routine thing - is it from a TV programme? I know you mentioned it when the Chavs did their night night routine before - obviously something I never watched.

Enjoy your lamb - we're having duck with an elderflower and champagne soft jelly sauce that I made last spring. I thought it was supposed to be a sort of jam but it didn't set like I thought it would - obviously not enough pectin - so it gets eaten as a kind of sauce and goes amazingly well with duck. TBH, duck isn't a great favourite of mine - the treat is cooking my roast tatties in the duck fat.

Oh - Chris - I meant to say yesterday that I like your sig - that bit about one pound off at a time and no tracker. I am thinking of following your lead on this. I keep thinking about why I'm not doing at all well at the moment and my latest theory is that its because I put too much emphasis on achieving a specific target - and I have never been one for doing as I'm told - even when its me doing the telling!! I think I might make my Spring Challenge goal to 'Be In Control' - to eat less (no specific calories but to cut out all naughtiness) and to do at least 30 minutes more exercise each day... except Tuesdays!

The blue paint.... mmmmm....... I look like I've got some kind of bizarre disease like blue measles! It hasn't all come off yet... (and, yes, I've had a couple of showers since!) that it comes off by work on Tuesday. D'you remember when we had all that bad wind over here recently (the weather sort, not the sprouts sort)?? Well, most of the garden fences, the wooden shed and the polytunnel greenhouse thing - and a variety of other stuff - disappeared from my garden. The insurance has taken all this time to finally pay out. We got the new fences and shed put in place and I decided they needed to be painted blue so we got one of those garden fence sprayer thingies - very fast but VERY messy - you don't realise how messy until after you've finished and look in a mirror. Luckily I was wearing sunglasses - although they've left me with white areas around my eyes and blue dots everywhere else. George, who was standing next to me, has also got a kind of bluey tinge to him and one great big blue streak on the side of his head and shoulder where he pushed the gate open ...

I'm glad to say that none of our friends or family are planning any weddings or Christenings this year. I hate wearing hats!

My plan for today is to sort out the contents of the garage. We've got two enormous chest freezers in there (from our chip shop days) which both need sorting out and the contents listed but there's so much junk in the garage (from the shed that blew away and some leftover eBay stock) that its almost impossible to reach the back freezer.

If you don't hear from me in 24 hours please send out the Rescue people!

Sarah Johnboy is from a TV show called The Waltons, they were this big family who lived in the mountains with a ton of kids. One was named Johnboy (kind of a dumb show in my opinion ) Anyway when they went to bed they all said good night to each other from their beds, it was how the show ended each week.

Chris the pub was called James Gate, it's not downtown it's in Jamaica Plain which is a neighborhood in Boston. It's very cosy with a fireplace which is nice when it's frigid in April!!!!

I'm skipping running today, from running in this stupid cold my throat is scratchy so I'm going to call and see if they are having spinning this morning.

My family is irritated with me about Easter but I'm not too bothered by it. I don't know who else is single on here, but being the only single sibling it's like my family just "informs" me of holiday plans instead of seeing if they work for me. Well today my sister made all these early plans because she is going to her inlaws later. Well we usually we don't do anything until late afternoon, and because nobody even checked with me I told them I couldn't make it until later. My family is great but I don't need to spend the entire day with them, I told them I'd be available after 2. Oh well they'll get over it, now I can exercise and clean my house in peace.

Scale is up today, I ate really well yesterday....oh well, residual fish and chips effect probably.

Have a great day and happy holiday all.

I don't really watch much TV unless its something I really want to watch ... never watch it at all during the day and quite often don't bother in the evenings.

Certainly can't remember the Waltons. Obviously the Chavs watched it. Was it good?

Sarah, The Waltons used to be on years and years ago, may have even been a BBC2 programme...it was a nice one, all about goodness and helping one another out through troubles.... which they had a load of...Johnboy, the eldest son was wanting to be a writer, so he was always narrating the stories through the years...the g'night Johnboy, elizabeth, maryellen, Grandma... bit did get exceedingly annoying after a while though..

So you're still a bit blue hey? I always get covered in paint whenever I seem to open the lid, it's very atracted to me...and Lew's the same as George, he always ends up with a streak or two...last year it was brilliant white on his nose and down one whole side....came off in the pool though.

Your dinner sounds scrummy... I don't know if I've ever had duck to eat, had pheasant once and didn't like it at all...enjoy yours

As for the tracker, you said just what I was feeling, I seem to set myself these goals for all the world to see, fail abismally and then berate myself constantly...I don't like being told what to do wither, even my myself... I'd be no good in the army... I'd tell those nasty men who shout at you, where to go....Garage cleaning hey? Dave and J did ours a few weeks back one afternoon when I was at work, it looks spiffy and I can now open the car door without knocking into something...I loved the fact that they did it too, there's a mouse in there and apparently I'm the only one who see's him....

Veggie, enjoy that creme egg, a friend over here is bringing me a willy wonker one to try, she said they're lovely and very similar to cadbury's creme one's. Won't get it until next Weds though when she arrives for a few days on the island with me...

RSG, I'm not single but I hear ya. Good for you for not running about like a chicken with it's head cut off to be where other people think you should be. You're right, too cold to run... hope you get the spin class.

Simply....well done on that pond... tha'ts a great achievement with all this Easter guff around

Have a lovely day all, off to get ready to go to breakfast.....

Happy Easter everyone.

A beautiful sunny morning but cold brrrr.

Sarah we did an easter egg hunt for in the house for Heather. She's happy as larry going around hiding them again and finding them over and over.

Chris miss you. Enjoy your breakfast sounds good mmm pancakes and syrup love it. So are you not going to go over for the wedding?

I'm feeling very emotional today thinking about home. We had our easter dinner last night as my oldest will go back to uni just after lunch. Although we will be eating leftovers tonight and ham and turkey sandwiches the rest of the week.

The Waltons bit like Little House On The Prairie always feel good stories. That's going back a few years.

Have a lovely easter girls don't eat too much chocolate.
