YoHo! Howdie everyone. Just checking in real quick here then off to beddie bye. It's been a busy weekend. We went to the Buckley Antique Tractor Show Thursday and Friday ... hubby likes the tractors, my daughter and I love the 600 plus vendors! Lots of great stuff to buy that we don't really need - lol. My poor legs tho ... all the rows of vendors are on a hill and we must have walked them all at least 3 times! Then we had company over the weekend and ended going to Macinac Island - MORE WALKING!!! I rested up Sunday and today I started my week again at Curves!

Janice:
WTG on the loss of lbs and inches! I have 2 weeks to go before I get weighed and measured .. but am told not to expect anything so soon so I won't be dissappointed.

Tami:
I'm glad your day 5 went a lot better. Day 4 sounded like a nightmare! Good luck on getting your hours down to part time.

I'm off to bed now ... Need some more resting up from the last 4 days .. lol. Talk to ya all tomorrow.

Love, CJ

Good morning ladies!!! Its Saturday and boy I am glad. I get a day off!!! Well not exactly off, its amazing how ones house can become so trashed in a matter of a few weeks working full time. That &^% damn cleaning fairy still hasn't shown up!

Well I've completed my first week of training and my first week solo on the call floor. I have to admit being on the floor was alot better after the first full day. I still have to contend with really nasty people from time to time, but for the most part....people are really nice and understanding if you smile and try to be helpful. Customer Service 101. I've had the honor of speaking with some very humorous people this week. Boy does that help may my day!

That fair sounds fun CJ, not sure I'd be real interested in tractors,LOL but as you said 600 vendors would be fun! We had an all employee meeting this week one day at the Coliseum. It was actually kind of fun. The music and slideshows were loud and geared more to the 20's crowd, but the luncheon was free and very nice (although I didn't eat). We got to pick up little freebies from a bunch of cell phone vendors and see some of the new phones. I don't even have a cell phone, but atleast I have an idea now of what kind of phones I may be interested in.

My kids went back to school. I had a really rough time of it because I had to work full time and missed my son's first day of kindergarten. My older daughter was able to take him to school so atleast I felt he would be ok. My daughters progress report (2nd) grade was actually kind of funny this week. Her teacher wrote "With Holly I will have my own personal walking encyclopedia this year!" I thought that was funny and was a bit amazed that the teacher picked up on this already. Holly has a real need for information and facts, just like her father. They drive me bats somedays. My husband is off Monday and will be going to the school to talk to their teachers and make sure all is well. My middle daughter (almost 14 now) brought home some homework and we couldn't help with it. Its Advanced Algebra, something we did not cover in high school. Amazing how times have changed. Its kind of unsettling the way people are always saying our kids aren't doing well in school....wonder why? Maybe its because they are required to learn things well beyond what most of us ever dreamed of doing in middle school!
Well not sure how I am doing on the weight front today.....didn't bother to weigh in this morning. I haven't been eating nearly enough over the last two weeks and hubby is getting a bit worried I think. He says I am going to pass out. Its hard to explain that I have been nervous and I can't eat.
Well gonna run, sorry for such a longwinded post this morning. Have a great weekend and happy thoughts to all!

Hope you all are having a great weekend. We are recovering from having 60 people over for dinner last night!! It went real well and now I have tons of leftovers to use up or give away. As usual I bought too much food.I just wanted to make sure there was enough for everyone.
Today I need to get back on track. I ate a few things that I shouldn't have last night. I just couldn't pass up the chocolate cake with cream filling and fudge frosting. I was soooo good! I'm glad it's all gone. The scale was up a pound this morning. I think I'm retaining a little water. My hands and feet feel swollen.
We are going to have a hot weekend. It will be in the high 90's. Next week we cool off and will be in the 70's. The cooler weather is great for working in the garden. I plan on burning a few calories working in the yard.

Default I will be back!

Hi guys,
Just a quick post, as I have to go pack to leave for Washington D.C tomorrow for some training for my job for a few days.

We have not been home, will tell you about our New Orleans trip when I get back, I promise. Late last night we got back from Illinois visiting our Air Force daughter, near St. Louis and have been busy all day getting things done around here.

But it looks like things are going great for our wonderful group. I had wanted to post before now, but just have been gone more than I have been home and even when I am home, I am never here. LOL

I will talk to you guys in a few days, maybe this weekend when I am back and address everyone than. Thanks for asking about me, I knew you wouldn't forget me and how could I forget you wonderful ladies.

You are all doing well and this group is really going strong, don't worry I won't desert you great gals.

Love you and talk to you soon, just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you and am still around. I have been reading your posts and lurking about, but that will end soon.

Love you, Sharon

Default New girl on the block!

Hey ladies,

My name is Heather and I am 17 years old. I am from British Columbia, Canada. I am a senior in high school. I joined another support group but I thought I would look around and see what else I can find also.

As of right now, I am starting to eat healthier and drinking lots of water and doing a little bit of exercise, definitley not as much as I should. I ordered a program called Turbo Jam from BeachBody so I am hoping that will work wonders. It is a kickboxing, cardio, dance, exercise video and it looks really fun because i hate going to the gym, everyone is like a size 2 and the guys are buff and good looking. When I get down to a decent size, I will go tone up and stuff at the gym otherwise I am staying as far from it as possible.

Anyways, I am going to see my brother in Edmonton, Alberta before school starts again (1 week) and he has already started university (yesterday actually) and I really want to see him and wish him well, etc. He is living with my step sister and her daughter so he can cut costs while he goes to school. I am either leaving tomorrow or thursday, we haven't decided yet. I have to pack now so I hope to get to know all or some of you. I will talk to you ladies later.

Heather

Hello ladies!!! And a warm welcome to you Heather!! Glad you've found us. I agree with the gym comment, LOL. I have never even wandered into a gym, even when I weighed 115 pounds in years gone by! Everyone is a size 2. Have fun in Edmonton, I won't even pretend I know where that is, but a road trip is a road trip!!!!

Nice to hear from you Sassy!!! I've missed your postings. And Janicej, hope your weather breaks soon, the 90's sound absolutely frightful. Its been in the 70's and 80's here for weeks now. The last two days its been only in the 60's and miserable misty type rain. Fall is definitely coming soon, the leaves of some trees are showing signs of color change already here. Oh well, I can't complain about that, I love the fall!!! And smack me hard, I like winter too, I just wish we'd get some snow to play in.

And a big hello to CJ and Kim, wherever you ladies have wandered off to.

This week was my week 2 training, even though I've been there now for 3 weeks. We are training this week at our new corporate office. Talk about nice digs! We even get our lunches catered every day there. The computers and computer chairs are luxury at its finest. Gosh, no wonder cell phone service rates are so damn high! There is money in that business. Hopefully after September 11th I will be able to finally work my part time schedule in the evenings that I was hired for. I really am not into 8:30 to 5:30 at all.
On the darker side of things, hubby got a ticket today for running a red light, $209 bucks. He went through the light when it was yellow but a car slowed down in front of him when they saw the cop and of course the light changed to red. There was no way he could have avoided this situation unless he stopped on green. He was upset and wants to fight this but its a real problem up here in Fort Wayne right now with quotas. Everyday someone writes a letter to the editor to complain about this police harassment but nothing seems to help. He knows they are only doing what they are supposed to do but then again, what could he do? The car in front of him slammed on his brakes.

Oh well, daily rant is over. Hope everyone is safe and happy!

Hi guys! This will be a quickie - sorry! I've been really really busy this week - actually have had my computer down as I was doing some re-vamping in my computer room. Also, am trying to get ready for the weekend - having lots of family and friends here. Still going to Curves tho - tomorrow is my weigh-in and measure day - I don't think there will be a change yet but who knows.

Welcome Heather! So glad you found our little group here and do hope you come back and chat more so we can all get to know each other better. Have fun on your trip.

Sharon: glad to hear from you - have a nice trip to Washington DC and can't wait to hear about your New Orleans trip!

Janice: 90's sound good - we're dipping into the lower temps now - Fall is on it's way --- then all too soon it will be Winter - and we do get tons and tons of snow here. Nothing like a cozy cabin in the middle of a snowstorm with the fire going! Your party sounds like it was a lot of fun. How's Curves? I'm loving going every day! Feel so much better.

Tami: Congrats on finishing week #2 of training! Wow, the office you are in now sure does sound plush! Catered lunches? Great! Ooops .. so sorry to hear about hubby's ticket ... that's a chunk of cash to pay, eh?

Kim: Hello to you and hope all is well.

Well ... speakaing of a chunk of cash .. hubby and I went to the casino Sunday nite ... he won $600 and I won $700 ... but that's not all ... I have a 3 digit number that I play daily straight and boxed .. well, that same nite it came in straight - $500!! and another $83 for the boxed bet. We were happy campers ! LOL

OK .. got to go now .. am pooped and have to get up really early tomorrow morning ... Talk to you all soon ... and just in case I don't come on over the weekend - have a wonderful labor day weekend everyone. But I'm sure I'll be back in before.

Good nite ...
Love, CJ

I had my first official weigh-in and measure at CURVES this morning and - DRUM ROLL PLEEEEEEESE - I lost 2 1/2 lbs and 11 inches!!!!! I made her measure me twice cuz I just could not believe it - I put down 5lb for my Sept goal - if I make it I'll get a free t-shirt! And ... i'll be able to add another clapping smiley face to my sig.

Have a great day everyone!

CJ- Woo hoo!!! Great news about the winnings and more importantly, the weigh in!!!! My weight is probably up now because we went and spent a good chunk of my first paycheck and had dinner out tonite. And I wasn't on my diet this time, LOL
I may be kind of scarce for a few days, my router crashed 3 days ago and Verizon is coming out tomorrow. For now I finally got my little mac working as a straight in connection to the internet but the rest of my computers are hopelessly lost without the internet connection.
Gotta run and clean my house, can't let the Verizon man see what a pigsty I have allowed my children to live in these past 3 weeks.

Default Ok I Am Back Again!

Hi guys,
I'm back! It sounds like all is well around here. Got back from D.C last night and thought I had better post while I have a few. I have been going so much lately. This is probably going to be so long as I wanted to tell you about my trip to New Orleans as well as address all of you great ladies and let you know what I have been up to and catch up on things.

My training went well, it was nice this time, the material was familiar to me as I have been doing this part of the study-parent interviews on the phone, for 8 yrs now. It was great that I knew everyone in our group too, had lots of fun, but too much food and not enough sleep with all that we had to do. And of course we had to go go to every evening and sightsee too. Went downtown D.C and saw the White House, The Capital and some other things. We went to Georgetown to eat and what a cute area to visit. They sure fed us well though, catered breakfasts and lunches with everything you could want and than some and all the good eating out we did each night while we were on the town. I am afraid to get on the scale, but I will get back on track with the program, water and exercising as well. But I am glad to be home again. I missed you guys.

needhelp27-Hi Heather and a big welcome to our group. So glad you stopped by and hope that you keep on posting. We are a great group and you will love it here. You are on the right track with all you are doing with eating healthier, drinking water and exercising as well. Also don't worry about jumping headfirst into your program either, slow but steady is the way to start. This is a big change for your body and you don't want to overdo it. I have heard of that Turbo Jam and it sounds like it will really help you out in losing weight. Hope you have fun visiting your family.

TamiL-It sounds like you are having a pretty good time with your training with all your perks. Believe me I know the feeling as I have mentioned with all they gave us in Washington D.C. Sorry about your husbands ticket, I think I would be fighting it too as if the guy in front of him wouldn't have slowed down so much he would have made it through before it changed. Darn stupid driver ahead of him! I know you agree with that fact don't you? Good luck to him and hope they rule in his favor, that much money can really hurt you in the pocketbook.

CJ-Wow you sure won a lot of money between the casino and the lottery. I know you were doing the happy dance. You are sure doing so well going to Curves all the time. I need to get back there reguarly again. Between all the places we have been going I have not been home enough to hardly go at all. I am so glad you like Curves, isn't it a great place? And you meet the nicest ladies there. By the time you chat away your workout is all done and you are out the door to do what you have to do. Congrats on both your 2 1/2 lb weight loss and your wonderful 11 inches off you lost as well. I knew you could do this! I am so proud of you!

janicej-So sorry you got sick, even though you lost weight, that was quite a hard way to lose. How are you feeling now? I sure hope much much better. You too are doing great guns at Curves. Good for you losing 3 pounds down as well as your 3 1/2 inches off too.

KimV-Where are you girlfriend? Post soon and let us know what is happening lately. How are you and Hannah doing? How is she doing in school so far this year. I think you said she started didn't you? She is probably already looking forward to her fall break already. Hope you are doing fine, miss you!

Some of you had been asking about my trip to New Orleans, and it was quite an experience. We got to see alot of Ken's family, some of his Grandfathers brothers and sisters family, which would make them 2nd and 3rd cousins I guess. They arranged a wonderful reunion at one of his cousins home and welcomed us with open arms. They even gave us a big basket full of New Orleans food, things like packages of seasonings, red beans and rice, pralines, and even a box of grits-which I love. These people were truely amazing and we all got along great and now are keeping in touch and we are email and phone buddies.

We had lots of wonderful Creole and Cajun food, we even went to the Emeril's restaurant, NOLA, standing for New Orleans Lousianna. I really liked the food there. We also went to one of his cousins oyster house in New Orleans and of course I never saw anyone eat so many fried oysters than Ken did. Not me, how do you say YUCK! But we had a great time there, everyone there were great and so happy we came to their city and support them in their quest to bring back tourism to their city. We especially loved the French Quarter and of course Bourbon Street was so much fun.Me never being there before was a real eye opener too.

We saw so much devastation too, everyone we met was affected by the hurricane Katrina, even his cousins, who all had to evacuate their homes and move in with some other family members. Even the French Quarter eatery's had to close down and all suffered some damage, even if it was only to replace their cooling system. We drove so we would not get stuck there since it was still hurricane season and we went to different neighborhoods and towns. We went to the Lower 9th Ward, East New Orleans and Lakeview, all really hit hard. We saw whole neighborhoods so badly damaged it looked like a war zone. I felt so sorry for all those people that had lost so much. The newspapers and TV did not even do it justice to what we saw. We also went to where Ken's grandfather and Dad were born and grew up, Buras, Lousianna which is in Plaquimines Parish. The finger or peninisular next to New Orleans that was under 20 feet of water and there is nothing hardly there. Those of his cousins who lived there had to evacuate and luckily they did so before the hurricane hit. Buras is where the hurricane touched down over land. We went there and talked to the Volunteer Fire Dept who was there from New Mexico, since all the fireman left town and went to the YMCA where the United Way and some church groups have been feeding those still left there who are staying in FEMA trailer and have been for about a year now. We talked to the people there and they asked us to stay for dinner, as they were grilling chicken and corn and some other things, but we didn't feel right staying because they were there for the people there. The people there were volunteers from all over the U.S.A and were some really great people to give up their lives to help those in need.

So all in all this trip was a real eye opener and we came home feeling so humbled by the wonderful people there and we felt like we are so blessed by all that we have compared to many of them.

Take care and talk to you later, Love you guys, Sassy Sharon

Default I'm here! I'm here!

HI everyone!

It's been awhile, I know. Life just got extremely busy. Thank goodness it's a three day weekend.

I don't know how I'm doing weight wise, since I don't weigh myself, but I know I have lost something by my clothes. A pair of jeans I bought last spring, and were snug on me (comfortable standing, almost too tight sitting) now feel like they are falling off me when I'm working, and are actually comfortable to sit in. My shorts that I bought for work and too big, and need a belt. I'm curious as to my weight, but then don't really want to know. Seems the weight doesn't always reflect the clothes size. Does that make any sense?

Hannah is doing great in school. In fact, she has met some 1st grade standards for certain things already. She did that last year in Kindergarden, too. She struggles with math, but only because she doesn't like it, not because she can't do it. I love it and hope when she gets older, it will seem to come to her naturally like it does me, and she will fall in love with it too.

My worry today is how to tell her about Steve Irwin (the crocodile hunter). He is her favorite celebrity, and the reason she wants to work and live at the Australia Zoo as a vet or zoo keeper when she is grown up (in case no one knows, he died yesterday in a freak accident with a sting ray). With Hannah's autism, I never know emotionally how she will react to something. She is either not going to be fazed by this at all, or totoally freak. I almost feel silly worrying about it. But I got to figure something out, as she watches animal planet (and the croc hunter) daily, and I'm sure there is going to be something about him on it today, or soon if not today. Plus there is the news breaks, etc. to worry about.

I have an e-mail buddy in Australia that had to contact me to let me know what happened as he was worried about Hannah, too. His advise was just play it by ear. Probably the best thing to do. My dad suggested telling her Steve went to heaven to take care of the animals up there. I don't know yet what to do, but guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Almost funny, in a way. Some guy I don't know about 11,000 miles away can affect my daughter's life so. Any advise??

Guess that is it.

Talk to you all later,

Kim
