T.G. Weekly Chat Nov 29th to Dec 5th

  • Good Morning all;

I thought I would start the thread, not that I did so well.
I stayed the same this week. Not too dissappointed as I did not stay OP all weekend.
I did not write down anything nor did I drink my water.

I was watching CNN last night they did a documentary called "Fat Chance"
they interviewed people who lost weight and kept it off for over a year...

Had 7 things they found worked:
    Here's the ones I remember:

    1. Keep at it even if you fail, continous attempts work.
    2. Weigh yourself regularly so you know what you gaining.
    3. Exercise at least 1 hour a day.
    4. Do small changes to activity every day... taking stairs, parking farthest from place ect.
    5. Eat high carbs ( complex) low fat diet

    Can't remember the other two...

    anyhow...
new week, we get to start again and to do differently what we did last week...ie pizza, chocolate, chips, chicken wings, ice cream... now you know why I did not write it down...

    Well,
good luck all... keep writing, we can do this together.

  • Hey Shaun!

Good job starting the new thread - nothing bashful about you, eh? LOL ....

You are so right - this is a new week so if we messed up last week, we can start anew! I forgot to weigh myself this morning before we left for downstate so now will have to wait until Wednesday when we get back home as I don't have a scale here at our downstate house (took it up north with us) .. slowly getting this house cleaned out so we can put it up on the market!

Well ... where is the rest of our group? Getting ready to go out to dinner with friends so will check back in later ...

    Love, CJ

  • Hi Everyone;

CJ : I thouhgt I'd give you a break on starting things off...
Hope you have a great trip downstate... funny how every country has a way of describing itself...
In BC they say going out east... and out east we say gone west...
unless you live on the island of Newfoundland where you say gone up along...

Anyhow.. if ever a good time to eat my sorrows nows it...
in past 48 hours I have found out I need major house repairs, $4000.00, hubby's car broke down..$$$ and are being audited by income tax for $8000.00...

needless to say I broke into a pack of hershey's mini bars and ate...well last count..over 10...
awoke this morning with food hangover...
Well try to get back on the go today.
    best of luck all
    shaun
  • Good morning everyone! Waiting for my coffee to get done so thought I would pop in for a quick one here.

    Shaun:
MOVE AWAY FROM THOSE MINI BARS! NOW! LOL .... Wow - sorry to hear of your $$$ woes! Sounds like you need a good case of "lottery winnings". I know it is a lot of stress but I'm sure all will work out ok. Todays a new day ... hide those mini bars out of sight and get back on track! I know you can do it!

    Loon, Alana, Slyvia, Peggy, Sharon:
Hope all is well and that we hear from you all SOON!

Also, anyone else, old members or new - come on in!

Well, coffee is ready ... gonna get my hair cut this morning! Yeah! Can't wait. Getting a new style and going shorter.

    Later ...
    Love, CJ
  • Good morning gals,
yes it is a new week. And so far so good. weighed in today and unfortunatly have gained a pound, so up the exercise and down with the food.
    shaun:
sorry about the $$ things. It seems like once something starts it runs in a row for awhie. My husbands service engine light just came on and is staying on, so he has to bring that in this week. Hope it's not to bad, he wants to get a new truck anyway, but it would be nice if we could get something for the old one.
    CJ:
Hope your trip was good, good luck with getting back op.
I'm still enjoying my time not working, I'm not bored yet, of course there is alot to do.
I used to have a cleaning business and I kept one of my clients houses when I quit. so am doing that this week. I also am going to clean and older gentlemans place for free this week, as he really needs it done. I told him not to tell evryone or I could be doing a lot of free cleaning.
I'm thinking about maybe going and doing some Christmas shopping today to get out of the house for awhile.
    Talk at ya later.

  • Howdy Ladies!

You see Queen CJ, I didn't forget about my chickies! I know it's been a while but, here I am. Wow, quite a few new members! Welcome ladies!

My parents are finally back home and my housesitting days are over (until January when they leave again). The good news is that my hubby fixed their computer and internet access! Let me tell you, computer withdrawals are BAD!!!

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I did pretty well this year, I didn't stuff my face like years past. I think that's a step in the right direction. I decided to join Weight Watchers at the end of this week. I FINALLY figured out that I need some structure to my weight loss. I need to be held accountable for my weight. I hope that makes some sense. I know I've been wanting to go back to the gym....I think it's time. What has really inspired me is that shoe "Biggest Loser". I can really identify with all of the contestants. That show has been my wake up call, so to speak. I have my precious little boy to think about. He needs his Mama and, I need him. After all that I went through to have my precious Nico, I think he deserves to have his Mama be able to have fun with him.

CJ- Hello my friend! You know I wouldn't abandon you or our little group. Life with a rambuctious toddler hasn't been easy...but, I'm enjoying it. Getting a new 'do? I'm sure you will look absolutely fabulous!

Sharon- Were are you my friend!!! I hope all is well.

Peggy- How are you doing? I hope all is well and you are getting better.

Shaun- Welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your $$$ problems. We had a lovely encounter with the IRS this year and it wasn't fun. I can relate to eating everything you see. Just take a step back, close your eyes and take a deap breath. Everything will work out.

Deb- Welcome to the group. Congrats on staying OP. You are very nice to clean that gentlman's home for free. Have fun shopping!

Well ladies, I've got to run. I have to take Nico to the hospital later to get blood work done. They have to strap him down and take it from his arm...I don't look forward to that! Wish me luck!

  • I'm here. Hi to everyone. I actually type a great big long post last week, but hit some key (don't know which one) and the post disappeared. Then I didn't have time to post again, so if you hear from me, it was through telepathy.

Shaun - Great job on starting the thread. I notice that CJ didn't call you the big BRAT, so I will. BIG BRAT, BIG BRAT, BIG BRAT!!! Sorry to hear about your repairs and audit. However, these are the times to stay focused, make a plan (which unfortunately means tightening the old belt), and get through one day at a time. I think we have all been there at one time or another and what seems impossible today will be a memory of "We did this." Just doesn't seem like that right now, though. On your house repairs, try to find out if there are any government sponsored programs to help with the repairs - in Canada, there are sometimes those programs that assist families with major repairs. For your car, see if there is a college that teaches auto repair looking for a car to work on. They are often less expensive than taking to a shop. Good luck and sending hugs to you.

Sylvia - Hi. Glad to have you back. Hope your Thanksgiving was great. Mine was spent at the computer at work... . Course, it wasn't Thanksgiving here, so what more could I expect.

CJ - I can't believe that you didn't call Shaun a BRAT. You are falling down in your responsibilities here.

Me - I have been crazy busy. Yesterday, I started work at 7:00am and finally lifted my head at 5:45pm. I didn't get any breaks or lunch, so, of course did not get my exercise in last night. I did intend to go home and workout, but by the time I finished supper (was starving, BTW), I was too tired.

We (DH & I) finished stippling the ceiling of our bedroom on Saturday. DH took all the lights down to get ready for that, so everything is in the dark. It affects the bathroom that we are still using, so it is difficult to put makeup on, match socks (navy and black are the hardest) by candle light. He doesn't want to put the lights back up until we finish installing the hardwood floor because it makes such a mess. I guess this weekend will be flooring...I am anxious to have it done.

After supper last night, I decided that I should have a piece of brownie cake that I baked on Sunday. Yep, I did get into that one, alright. But, the good news is that I still lost weight yesterday in spite of no exercise and a piece of cake. Probably had a lot to do with not eating all day, though.

Well, gotta go. Have a meeting with an icky student in a few minutes. I am hoping to control my temper while meeting with him, but that may be difficult. Will check in later.
  • Oh my! I'm so sorry for not getting in here sooner ...it's been such a busy week I have hardly been on the computer at all. But where are all our people at? Busy too? Hope all is well with everyone.

    Slyvia:
Sooooooooo glad to finally hear from you! I thought we were going to have to call out the National Guard to find you - lol. Good Luck on joining WW ... I know you'll do very well ... I just know it!

    Peggy:
Glad to hear from you also! I see you've been very busy too. LOL - I didn't call Shaun a BRAT cuz I didn't want to scare her off! I promise I wont' let it happen again .. and I will give her a BRAT! Your bedroom sounds like it's going to be really nice ... bet you'll be glad for the work to be done.

    Shaun:
OK .. here goes! BRAT - BRAT - BRAT - BRAT!!!!!! You are officially a BRAT cuz you beat us all to starting the new thread! I just didn't want to scare you off! This is something that got started a long time ago when we all used to race to start the new thread! I used to keep Sharon ( you haven't met her yet) talking in MSN instant messenger with me and all the while I was starting a new thread! Too funny!

    Loon:
I agree - that is so nice of you to clean that gentleman's house for him for free! You can come and do mine anytime - of course, it's a bit of a long trip to get here - lol. Did you get out and Christmas shop? Mine is all done and wrapped (except for a few I ordered online and am waiting for delivery). Today, I finally got up my tree and decorations! Got the Christmas Carols going and all the lights lit, and presents under the tree .. I'm ready for Christmas! I LOVE Christmas.

Well ... yes, I did get my hair cut. I'm still getting used to not having hair down my back! I got it cut just barely shoulder length. I do love it though .. was tired of the long hair. Needed a change. I don't like having my picture taken but I will work on it so I can change my avatar pic.

OK ... hope to hear from you all soon. Have a great weekend (what's left of it that is) ...

    Later...
    Love, CJ
