Lightbulb Hi All

Just a quick check-in.

I didn't make it to the gym yesterday. I'm going today in an hour.
My daughter has a class there - homeschool PE - and I'm going to
work out before her class. I play the card game Quiddler with the
parents during the class. Tired, if you don't know the card game, Quiddler,
you might want to check it out. It's kind of like a scrabble/rummy game.
The cards are beautiful-Celtic style. The game is made by the same company that makes SET. Your boys and students would probably enjoy the game and I LOVE playing.

I had a pineapple, nonfat yogurt, coconut, nonfat milk smoothie this morning. Yummy--275 calories.

I'm planning on having shrimp salad on pumpernickel for lunch
and vegetable beef stew--made without potatoes.

Thank you all for fogiving my absence. I did think about you alot and didn't read your posts while I was gone because I think that would have been frustrating for me--kind of like standing against the wall at a party. I've caught up, now, though.

Logging on here is keeping me honest with myself.

Thank you,
Roll

Rollmdl your doing well I am happy your back on with us. Together we all need this site and the support it offers us. Accountablity is a big thing for me. If I take the time to count my calories and intake it sure does help. Sometimes its an effort but I know that it is something I should do daily, sometimes I skip, but shouldn't. Counting calories helps because there isn't anything you really can't have sort of say, because you can watch how much you take in before going out to eat etc.. If you want something you can work it in. Sometimes before going to something special eat a bit less the day before or work out a bit extra. That way it balances out. I think it makes sense. I used to go to counseling years ago she told me if you want an ice cream sundae have it . But eat it as your lunch that way its added in. But when you want something you should beable to have it. Not having it sometimes makes us binge trying to eat other subsitutes which in the end add up to more cal.'s than the ice cream would of. Just something to consider.
Todays Intake: Kashi cereal w/ skim milk 190 cal. , 1 banana 70 cal. , 1 low carb 7 gr. toast 90 cal.
Lunch: 1 serving corn curls! Darn that hubby and his snacks! 130 cal.
I'll add the rest in later I am off to the gym.
Tiredoffat that card game sounds good. Let me know where you find it. If you do.
Enjoy that time off from school. I get monday and I am going to shop with a friend to the outlet malls.
Synn thanks for the tips always looking for new info. It sure helps us stay in tune better. New ideas , new tips and more reading. Any good recipes send them this way!

Just checking in! I did well on my workout yesterday. I have beat my regular incline and time on the treadmill. I am working hard on increasing my time and yesterday actually broke out with sweat running down the temples. I felt great!! Full of energy afterwards but hungry. My mistake was not eatting a good lunch before I went. After I ate chinese. I am sure the calories were up there but at least I had burned some off and saved some from lunch time. I just went in to do my wt. down 1.5lbs. from last time. I will take it! I will work hard on reaching my end of the month goal. Need to lose 2.5lbs yet 8 more days! Ooops! The pressure is on! Not impossible to do if I work at it and I will. I feel better since my medication changes not so tired out. Well here is my intake for today. 60 min. work out yesterday. Tiredoffat do you know what our heart rate should be on the treadmill? Let me know if you have any info. or any of you do? Tiredoffat how are you doing with your goal. I think it really helps to have something to shoot for. But wow the pressure is on. I guess maybe I will have to get to the gym 4 times this week and really be good.
Breakfast= 1 slice toast 7 gr. 60 cal., 2 eggs, scrambled with skim milk, mushrooms, ham slice and onions =200 cal. = 260 cal.
Snack= 1 small bread slice w/ 1 tsp. peanut butter= 125 cal.
Lunch = yogurt w/ 1/2 grapefruit
Dinner = out w/ friend I will add it in later on.

Lightbulb check in

Good morning all,
Thanks Carol for your inspirational post. I love hearing about what exercise is doing for you. I STILL haven't made it to the gym. I'm at a point, physically, where working out tires me out. I like it, once I'm doing it, AND it's hard for me to start. I need to drag myself to the gym and start the exercise cycle again (no pun intended).

I didn't post yesterday because I had a not so good eating day the day before. I don't want that to stop me. I don't do well on my own.

Eating plan:

Breakfast: Vegetable beef stew

lunch: chicken salad

dinner: chicken soup

Thanks for being here. I hope you're all having a good, relaxing Sunday.

Julie, are you out there? How's it hangin'?

Rollmdl I am glad you posted today. Sometimes I just happen to be on and ck to see if anyone has been here since me. Good to hear from you. Don't get discouraged it will come together just coming on and checking in says that you want to get going in the right direction. We all get bumps in the road and have all set backs, there sometimes to only hit one more pot hole sorry to say. The important thing is to ck in it helps no matter what you've eaten or if you have exercised or not.I find just reading different info. helps me stay motivated. A friend of mine told me when she started exercising at first she only planned 15 min. 3 times a week. That way she had no excuse and thats better than none. So something to think about I guess. I had read recently that we are all going to hit some tiype of struggle along the way its normal. So don't feel too badly or alone for that matter! I am rooting for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all. Carol, congrats on your stamina. Sounds like you've been having some great workouts. It is tricky to figure out just what to eat one you really start working out. When I don't eat good foods I feel lousy during my workouts. When I eat well I feel so great!!!!

I've been in a slump! Why - the cold, to many to do's, too many celebrations (fun, but a real challenge for healthy living). Today I just have to give in, get some rest and work my way out. I'm going to center myself today and then get back on track. You're strength, Carol, is helping me.

Roll, I hope you hang in there with us. I love to hear from you. My computer has been very fussy which limits the amount of time I can be here. But I need you all for this journey - thanks for being here.

Lightbulb Good morning

Well, I had a mediocre eating day yesterday. I didn't really binge but I didn't track my food. Here is my plan for today:
Breakfast: scrambled eggs with broccoli and cheese
lunch: pineapple coconut smoothie
snack: dried nectarines
dinner: chicken pecan salad

I am going to the water exercise class at 2:00! ----No matter what!

Mondays are typically overwhelming for me. I make my own schedule
and for me it's stressful. I tend to rebel against my own schedule. Kind of makes me sound like a multiple personality.

Tired, there is something to say for staying connected during a slump and I so admire you for your continued presence during all the phases of this journey. I have regrets for disappearing. A feeling of hopelessness about my body became stronger, the more I stayed away.

Oh, before I forget, the Quiddler game is available at setgame.com. You can "preview" the cards. Set is really good too. It's challenging but once you get the hang of it, it really exercises your brain. My daughter loves the Five Crowns game. It's kind of like Phase 10. I hope you guys look into these games. They are so cool!
Thanks for all the support.

Default Good Night Ladies

I finally made it to the water aerobics class. I had gone 3 weeks in a row and skipped last week. I had some fear that I wouldn't make it back. It felt great. My food? Just okay--1800 calories. Well, at least I tracked it and it felt like I had more than it turned out to be. I'm pretty tired right now--punchy.
Tired, sorry about your computer. I know what it's like to have to struggle with a pokey, sporadically functioning computer. Sometimes I'd leave the room to do a little task while my computer was "thinking about loading" and I'd forget to come back. I hope it gets better soon.

Talk with you all soon.

Tiredofat and Rollmdl yesterday I surely slipped up myself with my intakes. It is hard when you go out into the real world to eat. It all sounds so good. At any rate I had a friend going through some hard times stay overnight. So popcorn with Jersey Girl movie, dinner and breakfast. At least I took off some of the breading of my fish and shirmp and ate rye toast without butter but I did have jam. Oh well needless to say it could of been worse. I am jumping back into it today. I didn't get to gym but shopped at an outlet mall all outside walking to place to place. It was a nice day off. Then went to the Casino last night. I played on the ticket they sent me for 10.00 at least for about 2 hrs. It was fun I only lost a few of my own dollars. It was a real Carol day from the time I got up until I went to bed. That doesn't happen to often. Well its back to work today and getting on track with exercise and intake. Tiredoffat you are going to get right back into it girl! You have come so far, this is just part of the learning process I think. We all take a step back and find its not so great in any way or manner and then we start again. I did that too! Rollmdl did too! The important thing is your realizing it for yourself that its time to get serious. I do think we all challenge ourselves to see what will happen if I just do eat this or that! Then we find out it sneaks back on us quick like a sponge absorbing liquid. We need to stick together here so lets all work hard to stay on track. Write yourself a goal make it reachable and go for it. Oh my goodness I'd better do that myself or I won't come near the goal I have written.I am staying away from bread this week for sure. That was my downfall yesterday. Toast and a grilled rueben. But it was tasty!
Rollmdl good for you going to swim and exercise. Your doing well and even know your calories were up a bit. You worked out and burned some too! I wish they hadn't filled in the pool at the gym. Too many problems with it I guess. They made it an exercise room. My hip has been bothering me at night. I take my motrin 800mgs. and icy hot but it didn't touch it last night. I have to becareful with increasing that incline it could be bothering it a bit. I intend to workout this afternoon after work.
Then I better get home and spend some time with the hubby. He was feeling a bit left out yesterday.
Intake plans: Breakfast: whole wheat shredded wheat cereal w/ skim 210 cal.
snack; yogurt
Lunch: salad w/ reduced cheese, almonds, turkey, olive oil and vinegar spices. 300 cal. apple 70 cal.
Dinner: crock pot recipe w/ steak, salsa, brown gravy pkt. spices. over light egg noodles? cal. guess around 450? salad greens w/ dressing 150 cal.
Snack: 1 pear

Lightbulb Good Morning

Tuesday is a busy day for me. I really want to fit a vistit to the gym into my schedule. I took my daughter with me yesterday and she spent an hour and fifteen minutes in the weight room while I did the water aerobics class. I'm so glad that this gym allows young people to weight train. Her mood was much improved when we left the gym. At almost thirteen years, my daughter's moodiness is becoming more pronounced. A friend introduced me to a wonderfully helpful book. "Uncommon Sense for Parents With Teenagers".

ANYWAY........ Here's my food plan:
Breakfast:Scrambled eggs

Lunch: egg salad sandwich on pumpernickel

dinner: chicken vegetable soup with cheese and nuts

snack: dried nectarines

I may stop by the library today to see if Dr. Phil's book is in.

Keep up the good work, ladies.

I've been away from the computer for a few days, visiting old friends in New York and having a great time checking out the old neighborhood. I went off program, not to terribly, but I could have tried harder. I will have to have a plan in hand (and in my brain) before my next trip out of town, which will be in mid-March. Carol, your pep talk to Roll helped me, too!

Went to the gym last night, and have been EPP so far today.

Tired, how do you center yourself? I'm supposed to be doing hypnotherary/meditation and yoga, but I haven't in some time.

Synn, sometimes I read Shape, too, Prevention and Cooking Light. I subscribe to Fitness, and will probably re-subscribe to Self. I'm re-reading Thin for Good, which talks alot about emotional eating. There are times I feel like I'm reading the same stuff over and over, but it's the kind of reinforcement I need.

See ya tomorrow--have a great evening!

Hey ladies~
Well, I didn't start yesterday as intended so....I guess I will start today.
For breakfast I had a bagel with butter, no lunch, and for dinner i just had a 4 oz piece of steak, some peas, and a few potato wedges.
I am not counting calories or doing points...yet, I am trying to get the size and frequency of my meals under control first. A few more days of this and I will be right back on track!

Well girls yesterday didn't go at all as planned not to bad but some comfort food. I had to rush the hubby to the doctors in the morning after I had already gotten to work. We needed to out rule the heart issue. Thank God it wasn't that so then I went back to work for the afternoon left a bit early to take him to the primary doctor. They are treating him for inner ear infection with hopes that its right? He needs to go back on thurs. for bloodwork. Time will tell he says the pills knocked him for a loop! So I needless to say grabbed a 1/2 of turkey sandwich while out yesterday. So much for no bread at least it was dark rye. Then dinner wasn't bad but I ate 1/2 of a brownie ice cream sandwich with him last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well not to get discouraged just go forward right? No work out yesterday to many things going on. But today I will fit it in after work.
Synn careful skipping meals. They say its not good for us it screws up your metabolism. Better to eat 3 meals or a health bar etc... Just some thought in your direction. Fibers keep you full longer ck them out.
Rollmdl you go girl! Going to the gym is a step in the right direction. Once we go it gets easier each time with feeling more comfortable being there. Your intake looks good. What do you put in the pineapple smoothie? Hang in there with that teen its sometimes a bumpy road. But then somehow later in life they become your best friends. Its all a process I think, there was times the going got quite rough with my one daughter but now we get along great!
Tiredoffat hows it going? Hope your enjoying that vacation!
I have been reading info. from South Beach Diet. I am checking into it all and figure I will do my own thing. But the info. is useful. I am going to request the Ab Diet book at the library. I saw it actually in the Prevention Mag. advertised. I briefly checked it out at the book store.
Intake; 1 cup Kashi cereal w/ skim 190
Snack: yogurt 80 cal, green tea
Lunch; salad w/ mozz. ch, almonds, few croutons, veggies, oil and vinegar w/spices
Apple small = 300 cal.
Dinner: Seafood I have to pick it up yet. Maybe shrimp and make it with a stir fry w/ garlic sauce., green tea
Today I need to get my water intake up and my tea. The green tea is healthy and helps with your metabolism.

Hi all. It's great to read about all your diet ups and downs. Actually, I like hearing about the slumps as well as the triumphs. I've been waging battle. Like Dr. Phil suggested, I threw out all my clothes bigger than size 14 and now my current clothes are feeling tight - there's no way I'm going to buy bigger clothes so it's back on track - I have too. I love wearing the size 12 clothes - I feel great in them.

I tried on bathing suits yesterday - that's incentive. I could see every bit of the 20-25 lbs left to reach goal sticking out of the suit in all directions.

I'm finally rested. There's a real correlation for me between exhaustion and over eating. Getting enough rest is crucial for me. Exercise works wonders too. The non fat yogurt smoothies are also a great way to get protein/calcium and burn fat.

The sun is shining today (finally!!!!). March is the toughest month in the year since we're all tired of winter - we can do this, we'll be so happy if we can hang in there during this tough month of the year!!!!!

I'm rooting for all of you. I'm here to listen to both the ups and downs. Hang in there - we can and will reach goal!!!!

sw210 cw 170 (or a little higher - haven't weighed myself during this downturn)

Lightbulb Good Morning

I have been avoiding doing some simple paperwork and it's nagging at me.
It's a trigger.

I am committing to tackling paperwork today.

I had 1900 calories yesterday. Too much food. The upside is that the selections weren't necessarily unhealthy the downside is that the number and quantity were.

I am having SUCH a hard time sticking with my morning intentions. At least this week I've been treading water and not sinking.

My food plan for today:

Breakfast: berry smoothie

lunch: egg salad on pumpernickel

dinner: ground beef with vegetables and cheese (normal portion--no super-sizing!!)

Carol, my pineapple smoothie has frozen pineapple from Trader Joes,
fage 0% yogurt from Trader Joes, unsweetened coconut from Trader Joes, a little nonfat milk from Trader Joes
and splenda. The coconut is high in fat but I love the taste and I don't use much so I don't feel too bad about it. I do track and allow for the extra fat and calories.
I know how hard it is, living with illness. My husband was sick before he died and I used food for comfort and wouldn't take time to exercise. You are doing such a great job. My heart goes out to you.

Tired, I'm with you about the tail end of winter. I start having tropical dreams at this time of year. We have a few beautiful days and when the inclement weather returns (as it always does) we all feel frustrated and caged.

Well, off I go. I wish you all well today. I think this is going to have to be a big praying day for me.

Julie, I'm thinking of you and miss you. I know you are here in spirit.

Thank you all for being here.

Love,

Roll
