Happy Valentines Day, ladies!

Words can't express how much I love you all and how much I appreciate all your support and encouragement!! It's had to believe it's only been 18 months since my life changed so drastically...and it's through the love and friendship I've received that I'm rebuilding my life into something even better!

I know a lot of people think Valentines Day is a rough holiday for those not in a relationship...but I look at it as a day to celebrate the love you feel for your self and others (hence the title for our thread this month). Everyone is loved, so let it in.

As I logged in this morning, I couldn't help but think how Mellie used to post fun and lovely graphics each holiday to brighten up these pages. I'm going to see if I can find something to post in her honor.

I'll check in for personals later.

Much love,

One more pic from Roatan - the monkeys. Very cute mischievous creatures, and we all have pictures with a monkey on our shoulder - several in fact. We were the only ship in port that day, so the photographers took a good amount of photos, and we they sold a DVD with them on it - the $10 went to the preserve, so it was a good cause.

Anyway, no sooner had our guide told us to put away our sunglasses, hats, scarves and any other dangly things that the monkeys would snatch, than one monkey stole the little bottle of hand sanitizer dangling from a holder on my friend B's purse. It happened so fast!! The monkey actually opened the bottle and it even looked like she tasted it! She dropped the bottle shortly afterward and B snatched it back - hope that monkey wasn't harmed by the sanitizer!! You can see her with the bottle in the photo.

Susie - I'm also very happy today is Friday. Our office closes at 3 pm today (that's our custom, to close early the day prior to a company holiday), so that's nice. And we also have Monday off for President's Day - whoo! Enjoy your weekend. Re the .25 - a loss is a loss, and that's a good thing!! Good to have smaller goals along the way in this journey, otherwise it's like any other project - taken as a whole it's very overwhelming. Glad you liked the photos!!

Awww, Michelle - very sweet graphics. I agree, people shouldn't get depressed on V-Day because they aren't in a romantic relationship, they need to celebrate all the other loves in their lives in the form of friends and family and especially themselves.

HAPPY HEART DAY LADIES!

Went to the doc this morning. Not only do I have a ganglion cyst but also carpel tunnel in that wrist. Cyst is too close to the artery to aspirate it so instead he put me in a brace to see if that helps with the carpel tunnel. Sheesh. Brace on right ankle and left wrist. Maybe just go with a body cast and get it over with.

LAURA....thank you for the recap on your vacation and the pictures. Very Nice!

CHELLE....I agree valentine's day is for everyone.

SUSIE...down a quarter of a lb. That is equal to one stick of budda! Good job.

CEEG...buying a bed opens the doors to company...yikes

HAPPY...yes, DS got things in order, finally, took him two days. Kiwanas was great. I joined this time when we went.

TERRA..great job on walking. Your doggie is cute.

SHADDIE...sounds like a working weekend for you rather than a fun weekend.

Got to get busy, didn't get in work till noon and have to leave early to get taxes done. Wish us luck, this is the first year married and Cs business. Bleh.

Hugs and Happy V Day.

Hi Annie - In late, out early - that's my kind of workday, haha. And such a romantic V-Day - getting your taxes done!! I should talk - 14 years ago today, bf and I moved into our house. Now that's romantic! Have a good v-day anyway and have a lovely weekend.

Sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel and the arm brace. Never fun to have yet another medical thing to add to the list. Bleh.

Good afternoon ladies!

Just a few more hours 'till the long weekend!! I just wanted to celebrate two accomplishments...unfortunately neither are weight related, but that will come in time. First, I finished the video for my friend's birthday and her husband (who is also a dear friend) LOVES it!! And...I finished my research and report for a new website hosting recommendation and gave it to my boss and another manager. My boss isn't all that interested in the technical reasons behind my recommendation, but the other manager is, and he was very impressed with all that information and feature comparison data I compiled.

Today after work, I have a meeting with a nonprofit organization that I do part time website work for. And after that D and I are either going out to dinner or he's going to fix me a yummy dinner.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. A friend of mine is coming down from San Francisco and we both are getting together for lunch with a friend of mine who is in town this weekend from Wisconsin. After that, I'm heading over to the location of the surprise 50th b'day party to set up the laptop and test it out.

Then Sunday, I'm meeting some friends at the dog park and then going to a workshop in the afternoon. And on Monday, more workshops.

Somewhere in there, I need to do some writing and other work for a website client.

===================================

Laura - I'm so glad your review went well, and you're right a gain of 0.6 lbs after a cruise is not bad at all. I love all your vacation photos and stories! It was almost like living it vicariously through you! I've never been to NOLA, but I've heard it's an amazing place to experience! I especially liked reading about Belize since my step-brother lives there now. He had told me about the barrier reef there. I'm glad you enjoyed the snorkeling. I hope to get to Belize in 2015. Roatan, Honduras looks lovely too! I love wildlife preserves. I hope the monkey only sniffed the sanitizer and didn't drink much if any. I'm so impressed that you finished your challenges while on vacay!! Wow! So nice that you give Coal a steak and peanut butter biscuits on his birthday!! Maybe next weekend I'll make some biscuits for Santa; this weekend's too darn busy. You're already off work for the long weekend, lucky lady! You and I definitely are on the same page about feeling all the love in your life on V-Day. Last year, Santa was my V-Day date, and it was lovely spending the evening with him.

Ceejay - I'm glad your time with the trainee has improved. Some people brag about themselves a lot. I'm glad he's getting less annoying. How cool about high school photos being posted on FB. My cousin has posted some of my pre-teen and teenage years.

Shad - The software I used for the video is called Wondershare. You can download it. It's $39.99 for a one year license or $49.99 for a lifetime license (I opted for the lifetime). It's really easy to use. You just add your images (and videos), choose the kind of transitions you want between photos (I chose random), add audio if you want to, and you can customize the intro screen and the "credits" screen at the end if you want one. I sent you a message via FB with a list of the various softwares I looked at. There are some that are cheaper or even free, but some don't let you burn to a DVD and I needed to that. I chose Wondershare because you could upload your own audio...not just choose from the software's audio library. Sounds like a busy and fun weekend ahead! I am so hoping to get my back better so I can do some hiking in the lovely hills around here. I'd love to see photos of the botanical gardens and the zoo. Have fun at the Petone fair. Be careful of the ominous weather though.

Susie - So nice that your boss was able to go into China on business after all. Hopefully it will all work out as planned. Congrats on the loss at TOPS! Any loss is better than nothing! So good that you have a new incentive to lose weight. Thanks for asking about the insomnia...what brought it on the other night is working on the video until after 10. Normally I try and start unwinding at around 8. Also, I forgot about taking Melatonin, so I took some at 11 or 11:30. I slept better last night.

Happy - How wonderful that you'll be given an award for all your help with the Humane Society!! Enjoy the Crabfest buffet tonight. Wow, no sales at the store on Thursday. Must've been boring. I'm glad your hair appointment went well. I think New Orleans is like a lot of big cities...parts that are fascinating and beautiful and parts that are downright scary. I know San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles are like that. Does a cold water rinse help preserve hair color? Whenever I get my hair colored "strawberry blonde" the reddish tones always fade out in a couple weeks and then it's just blonde. Good thing I like that color too.

Terra - Your dog is adorable. Good for you on all your walking...and on going to the support group meetings. Support is very important as we deal with life's challenges.

Annie - So sorry to hear about your ganglion cyst and the carpel tunnel! I hope the brace helps it heal. Good luck with your taxes. I have to compile all the paperwork. Mine are complicated this year because of working in two different states. Have a great weekend, sista!

I'd better get back to it. Still lots more to get done even if my website hosting research report is done.

Much love and many hugs,

Hi. I'm taking a break from balancing the checkbook and paying bills. The bills from DH and my January health issues are hitting. We have met our deductibles. I am now happy that I worked all those long hours and can just pay the bills and not have to set up a payment plan.

We received 5 inches of new snow yesterday. The commute home from work was 2 hrs. But we made it before dark so I was ok with it.

Busy day today. We slept until 7:30 a.m. and then DH shelved snow for an hour while I cleaned up the kitchen and did a load of laundry and straightened up the house a bit. DH had a friend who was coming into town for a dentist appointment and so after his friend was finished with that we all went to breakfast and then DH and I went and got groceries so when we got done we could be in for the day. We took a nap, then cleaned the rest of the house. We have wood floors and all this snow and going in and out means a lot of mopping for me.

We fixed tacos for dinner and now I'm working on the checkbook and bills and he is watching the slam dunk contest on tv.

I finished the Fern Michaels book I was reading. It was a romance novel but it did have a bit of mystery to it and it was a fun quick read. Now, I'm reading the new Nicholas Sparks book. I just read the first chapter and will most likely read a little when I get into bed later.

Terra: You are doing great getting your walks in. How long/far do you go on each walk?

Ceejay: YEAH for the refunds!! We get our taxes done next Saturday. I'm hoping for a refund.

Annie: Sorry about all the braces you are dealing with now. I hope that it helps the carpal tunnel...I have heard that can be really painful.

Michelle: Great job on those accomplishments. You have been really working hard on that video and it sounds like you had a lot of irons in the fire....so good for you!

Laura: I hope you are enjoying your 3 day weekend...I know I am! I loved the picture of the monkey with the hand sanitizer bottle. He looked so cute.
Your trip sounds like a wonderful time and I'm glad you shared it with us.

Happy: How did the doctor appointment go?

Ok..back to getting this checkbook balanced and bills paid.

Evening all,
Well the weekend certainly got away on me, but I got most of things finished that I wanted done. Today has been a beautiful day and I have walked and walked - to the markets, to the supermarket, up the hills etc.
Yesterday I went to the Petone fair and it was very interesting. Lots of crafts, lots of interesting stuff and lots of home made jams and chutneys and things. Yummy.

So the weekend has gone and it is back to work tomorrow to do it all over again. Just two weeks now until the guys begin training. A bit early I would have thought, but that's not my decision.

It's now time for bed. I'll be back with personals in the morning.

Good morning all,

I had done a big giant post of personals and was multi-tasking (which I shouldn't do). The network has been slow lately and I went to close a browser window and impatiently clicked too many times and lost my post. Can only blame myself. Didn't have time to re-do it.

Went to the doctor on Friday. They x-rayed my knee. 2 spots of severe arthritis She is recommending a better physical therapist in a town 30 minutes drive from here. The one in town who was good left to start her own practice and I was less than satisfied with the guy I was seeing. So we'll give that a try and if it keeps flaring up, I'll get another steroid shot. Our weather is warming up a bit - to the 30's even (just in time to mess up the ski race next weekend). And just that bit of warm up changes something in the atmosphere that really brings on the aches and pains. I am in a world of hurt today. We got more new snow yesterday so I have to go and help DH who's been doing most of it himself. The crabfest on Friday was very good - huge king crab legs, delicious shrimp scampi and a cheesy crab bisque as well as some batter fried cod rounded out the seafood selections. They also had an excellent roast pork with apples, baked chicken with bbq sauce and some other stuff I can't remember but it was all quite good - their new chef makes good stuff! I was a bit disappointed that they had limited side dishes and salads - cole slaw, potato salad and lots of delicious fresh fruit but we enjoyed ourselves and stuck to one dish each. We didn't bring any extra money with us so did not go to the casino which was a first Yesterday I caught up with a bunch of recorded tv shows. I have recorded the Olympics and have yet to watch them but it's nice that I can breeze right past that which I'm not interested in and just get to the good stuff without having to devote 20 hours to it.

Grocery shopping today after snow shoveling. I am running low on fresh stuff and the Mongolian hoardes will be arriving in town soon for the race and it will just be horrid maneuvering around town. I'm not sure how I am going to get to yoga and my 2 shifts at the shop later this week as yoga is right near the start of the race and they are doing the opening ceremonies just about the time I get out of there. The race ends in town right on Main street where we are so they will be blocking the roads off starting Wednesday which means I will have to walk over at some point. One of the thrift volunteers is trying to solicit us to help out bussing tables for a church fundraiser spaghetti dinner on Friday but I will have to see how my leg is holding up. They serve about 700 people in 4 hours so it's a pretty good turn out and helps out the church too.

Blah blah blah. Ok I'm done.

Shad - sounds like you had the most wonderful weekend. So nice that the weather cooperated and you were able to mill about and see the sights and stretch the legs out. I take it that your refrigerator is filled with delicious foods for the upcoming week. I hear you on the training - it was amazing to me what little importance they placed on the most important tasks.

Susie - yikes on hitting your deductibles already but at least that's out of the way. I have wood floors too and like you, noticed that they seem to need an awful lot more cleaning with the salt and snow - they are slippery with snowy boots too. Glad you enjoyed your books. I guess you got your exercise in with snow shoveling!

Ceejay - yay for tax refunds! Yes you overpaid but it's still nice getting those refund checks I think. Did your guest finally leave?

Michelle - what a lovely video you made I'm sure it was labor intensive but when I saw who it was, I knew it was your very good friend so I can see why you did it. I can't imagine how the wife would not be moved to tears with it. What a great gift!!! Thanks for including the info on the software - I might check that out too. Sounds like you had a busy weekend with friends - hope you had some fun. As to your question - yes, a cold rinse after washing your hair will close the hair shaft and help preserve the color. Make it as cold as you can stand it. I generally put the shower nozzle as close to the wall as possible, bend far forward and just get my head in the water, then I jump back, turn on the warm water again and warm myself up - it surely WAKES you up One of the things I like about the red tones is hair is that it not only puts some color in one's face but it also fades out nicely - just wish it didn't fade as much as it does. Thank you for the Mel graphics - I do miss them...

Annie - poor lady with all those braces! But they do make one feel better except for the restrictive carpal tunnel one. I hope your tax session didn't go too badly. Hey, get all the lumps and bumps done with now so you'll be raring to go when garden season is just around the corner

Laura - I have really enjoyed your pictures and narrative about your vacation. I guess monkeys are curious and mischievous. My ex-boss loved to go to Costa Rica. She has a little Elvis doll - think Barbie sized - that she takes with her. He is the focal point of many beautiful scenery pictures she has taken. One day she was setting up a shot and one of the monkeys grabbed Elvis and ran off with him. I think another local was able to rescue him but she said it was both funny and a potential disaster at the same time. Are you back used to your land legs and the cold again? Enjoy your 3 day weekend.

Hi Terra

Ok, time for me to get something constructive done. Later ladies...
