Good morning. I am off work today and my plans are to pay some bills, take down the tree and other Christmas decorations. I will leave out some of the snowmen though. Also have laundry to do.

I will also do my walking DVD today and I want to sit and write a couple of letters. That should make for a full day.

Hi Annie, I am glad you had a nice Christmas. The engagement sounds exciting for your family.

Have a great day everyone. I might pop back in later this evening.

Morning all
Susie
No I didn't ride the bike. In fact I fell asleep on the couch. I'm like you I'm going to take down what little Christmas decorations I have up and put them away, do laundry and then a trip to Walmart.

Annie
Seems like the police car was what the lil man wanted. Too cute for sure. And congrats to Sam and Chris on their engagement. Yesterday was a little odd to me. Felt like a Sunday cause no one was there.

Michelle
Have you decided upon which job you are going to take?

Need to get started on my chores for today. Not really wanting to do any thing. I half way have a headache but that will soon pass.

I understand you completely about the "movement" thing. Since the last bout with the diverticulitis, I've had to watch my food intake and eat smaller meals. From now on it's cooked food only with possibly a salad and apple along the way.

Super quick post....just to say Happy Boxing Day!

I hope those that are having tummy issues feel better soon.

Susie - I hope you get all the things done that you want to.

Annie - Sounds like a great Christmas! I'm so happy for Samantha and Chris!!

To answer Ceejay's question...I've decided to take the SF job. The commute on BART isn't bad at all (hopefully it will still be so good after New Year's. And I hope the commute to/from the train station stays good as well. The money with the SF job is better, and I like the Benefits starting Day 1...and that it's not just a 4 month contract.

Hope you all have a great day!!

Much love to all,

Good morning girls,

Happy Boxing Day. Actually boxing day for me was 2 days ago when I finally busted up all the boxes from recent deliveries that were clogging up the dining area and DH hauled them out to the garage until he takes a run to the recycling place.

Yesterday was a quiet day. We got about 5 inches of new snow. And it's snowing again today. I got hungry about 2pm and so was DH. It was sort of late for lunch and kind of early for supper. They did have a promotion at the casino for loyalty card members for a free buffet - and the monthly specialty buffets they put on are really, really nice. DH said we had gotten too much snow to go out and he preferred not to. So I defrosted some pre-cooked shrimp and opened a bottle of cocktail sauce. I had some TGI Friday's brand potato skins I popped in the oven and grabbed a big hunk of the rare prime rib roast I made the night before. Sautéed that in the pan with a bit of garlic butter and seasonings just to make the "bits" that create the base for the sauce. Crusted the meat on both sides and removed it to a plate. Added a bit of cream and some Dijon mustard to deglaze the pan and slowly cooked the sauce to thicken it a bit. Sliced the beef into "steak bit" sized chunks which we had with the mustard cream and also a horseradish dipping sauce. It was a light brunch but quite tasty. Told DH there was his surf and turf Christmas dinner and he said he enjoyed it immensely. He was going to clean the snow but it kept snowing so he decided to wait it out and went up on the computer while I sat in a chair and enjoyed the fireplace and the Christmas tree. Afterwards he went out to plow and the deer parade came walking down the driveway. 9 deer in single file. By then it was dark and he had turned on the lights on the garage and man cave so he could plow. Those lights on the white snow really cast a lot of light. He set out some food for them and they were really enjoying it - especially the special package of cherry cobbler bird seed I had purchased for them just as a Christmas treat. He said he put that seed down next to corn piles and they went specifically to each cobbler pile, ate every single seed and left the corn for some other less fortunate bloke. We have to set out about 5 piles across the yard because they do fight - particularly 2 sets of mommas with their youngin's. He came in the house to tell me what was going on but was eager to get back to work outside. I told him to wait 15 minutes to let them eat and then go about his business. He did just that. Much to his amazement (and delight) when he started shoveling again they paid him no mind and actually pranced around him as he worked. He was even able to start up the snowblower and walk around and they still stayed which amazed me. He came in all excited like a little kid. He said that we had 2 great dinners, it was nice and quiet, he didn't have to drive all over and the cherry on the sundae (or should I say Wednesday :s ) was having the deer prance all around him like he was one of their own. He said it was just the perfect Christmas for him. Which was nice I watched the movie Steel Magnolias which believe it or not, I had never seen before. I had recorded the colorized version of the I Love Lucy Christmas show but for some reason, that didn't take and I had to delete 1 hour of a blank tv screen.

My poor sister on the other hand was missing me (as I was her) and was dealing with my less than cooperative Mum. My sister unfortunately has to be the food police because my mom will eat all the sweets and ignore the tasty food my sister worked so hard to make. Sis said that she noticed that my mom makes a very pointed attempt to avoid anything my sister cooks low sodium or healthy for her. Mom was going for something last night which had she eaten it that late, would have resulted in her being up most of the night being sick. So Sis reminded her of that (gently) and offered other suggestions instead. To that Mom got mad, said she "wasn't hungry" and gave her the silent treatment all night. This is becoming more typical behavior for her sadly. Sis and I were trading messages and advice on FB last night.

Annie - congrats on Sissy getting engaged! That's nice that C overcame his reluctance and realized that not all women are out to burn him. You must have been thrilled. Loved the cute story of Lil Man and his police car. How cute that they pick something and pour all their love into it. Just hard to figure out what that attraction is, isn't it? Sounds like you had a very nice holiday. Today you are - as my niece said on Tuesday - The Captain of The Ghost Ship at the office today. Enjoy your reign. Give the peasants some treats I am about to head to the thrift shop myself shortly.

What's with all of you taking down your decorations already? There's still another week of holiday!

Susie - we have more than enough snow to share. We are well over 28 inches on the ground so far. Our first snow never had a chance to melt and it just keeps 'a coming. So pop over if you want some and bring a truck with you Sounds like you had a nice time with your friends. Good food and fun. I am going to start my exercise with yoga to get me in the habit of moving and do those stretches I seem to need a lot lately. I am waiting for my new yoga mat to air out - it smells badly of new plastic but they said it will dissipate. Right now it's between the outside and storm door off the laundry room. What is My Fitness Pal?

Michelle - hope you had a nice dinner with the stepmum and got to work on your website stuff.

Shad - come on over - I'm sure S will love playing in the snow. Just bundle her up. I'm sure we can find a makeshift sled and you'd love walking the lanes out here. I have boots and coats to lend out. Sounds like you had an interesting time as always with the DS and M. Is the baby starting to talk yet? I don't mind people talking about potty stuff - just like sex or other body stuff - let's not get too graphic I think there is far too much cheese this time of year which tends to stuff people up! And I'll share my roast if you save me some of those yummy prawns and scallops. Love seafood!!!

Laura - how was the nephew's dinner? Up to your culinary expectations? The luminarias must have been lovely. How many people participated?

Ceejay - how nice that the boss brought you Christmas dinner! What a nice surprise - hope it was tasty.

Sorry to be so short - I looked at the time and I need to get ready and out the door. Will be back later.

Happy - What a lovely special day for your DH! How cool it must've been to see the deer prancing around with him so nearby! I too would've been as giddy as a little kid had I seen that! The prime rib pieces in mustard cream sauce sound so yummy!! We had a very nice dinner with my step-mum, and I got home in time to finish my freelance website work, which was good. My Fitness Pal is a neat app that you can use online or on a smartphone to track food AND exercise.

Gotta get back to work. I'll try and check in this evening!

Love and hugs,

Afternoon all. It was so nice having the day off to do almost nothing.

Yesterday was nice. My nephew made dinner at his aunt's house and we all enjoyed his beef tenderloin, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. We also enjoyed the cookies my SIL and her sis baked, as well as the home baked cheesecake my sister & BIL brought. I was told my deviled eggs were tasty. I didn't care for them myself as much as others I've had. This recipe had whole grain mustard, cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce in them along w/ the usual mayo & egg yolk. I'll try another recipe next time.

Michelle - Sounds like you had a nice day with your stepmom. Is your step bro still going to South America? I'm glad you like the SF job!!

Happy - Yum, your lunch sounded delish. My nephew made a horseradish sauce to go with the beef tenderloin and it was wonderful - not too strong for me. How fun that must have been for dh to be amongst the deer prancing around and you seeing it!! Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. Sorry to hear your sister was having difficulties with your mom...just trying to keep her feeling good. I have to say I feel like I could make a meal out of pure junk food of the salty and sweet variety, but it doesn't take me long to get tired of that and long for "real food".

Susie - Sounds like a nice meal spent with your friends. I hope you enjoyed your day off. Nice you can work from home tomorrow, and only a half day - yay!!!

Ceejay - Wow, you and Susie taking down your Christmas decorations already!!?? Because I was so late with putting up ours, I'll keep them up until at least after New Year's Day.

Annie - Sounds like you had an eventful holiday. So cute the li'l guy loved that toy!! And congrats to DS and her DH-to-be on their engagement.

Shad - Yum, scallops. They sure are expensive, but so tasty! I hope "all systems are go" concerning your digestive tract, don't want to feel badly during what should be a nice family visit. Speaking of family, I hope there was a plan to do something special during your time there. The beach is sounding really good to me right now. Which makes me think of wearing a swimsuit and in turn makes me think of printing off both the ab and squat challenge forms and try to work both to some degree starting very soon given my cruise is coming up in a little over a month now. I'll modify both of the challenges just to get me some core and lower body work going until I get my heinie back in the gym mode.

---
Today I was lazy til mid-morning, then went to Walmart. Not much I wanted from the Christmas clearance, as it turns out, but I need some "female supplies" so I was there anyway to at least look. Stopped at Aldi, and then the thrift shop. Bought a Christmas ornament, a pair of brown corduroy pants and a brand new sweatshirt with the tags still on it, all for $6 and change. Can't wait to get the sweatshirt washed up - it's a lovely raspberry color with a V-neck.

Watched a movie, walked doggy, shoveled snow (we didn't get much) and that brings me up to date. Off to eat dinner. TTFN gals!

Hi. Successful day here. I got the house back to normal and also cleaned out a cabinet.

I didn't get my walking DVD done but with all the dusting and sweeping and mopping and such I feel I got a pretty good workout in.

I just finished eating dinner (leftover pasta dish from O Charlies when we ate there Sunday evening with friends).

I logged everything into My Fitness Pal and I am in my range for the day.

I am about to hit the shower, relax with a book and get to bed earlier than I have been.

Laura: your thrift shop purchases sound lovely.

Michelle I think you made the right decision with the job. Doesn't it feel good to have that settled?

Happy: I broke down boxes today as well so they can g with the recycling.
Michelle explained My Fitness Pal. I find it helpful because I can put my food in right from my smart phone and see where I am in my allotted calorie range for the day.

I found 3 yoga stretches I think would be helpful to me if I did them daily. They take about 10 minutes to do so I will start doing them and pretend we are doing yoga together.

Ceejay I hope your headache passed and you got those decorations put away.

See you all tomorrow

Good Friday--> Payday. Yeah!!

Picked up the living room and kitchen last night from the Christmas diaster. Tonite I will take down the tree and box up all the holiday stuff. Stopped by Sissy's last evening and she already had her house back in order. Lil rat! We watched "Man of Steel" over the holiday. I was not much into it, too much fighting going on for me. I am a lover not a fighter. Last night was leftover homemade chicken and noodles and I made C a grill cheese. He could live off of grill cheese. Too much bread for me so I just ate a small bowl of soup. My calories were excellent yesterday, under 1000 for sure. Breakfast and lunch were 420 total. Trying to get a head start on this better eating, exercising plan before the new year. I pray the Lord is with me all the way, cause I need every bit of help I can get.

SUSIE....you sound like a cleaner like I am. I can especially clean like crazy if I am upset. I should really try yoga also as I have many aches and pains that would probably benefit from it.

LAURA...good for you on relaxing and taking it easy for a change. You are always doing something. The nephew's dinner sounded delish. I love horseradish in food. I even like Arby's horsey sauce. lol

CHELLE...so glad you chose the SF job. I just sounded more inviting to me than the others. Glad your move went smoothly and you are fitting in like a glove. Hugs

HAPPY...oh how fun DH got to play with the deer. Reminds me when we used to live out in the sticks. The deer used to come right up to our back porch and we could stand at the door and watch them. They seemed a little on the tame side of things too. It is the small things in life that make us the happiest. Sorry to hear you momma is giving your sis a little bit of a hard time.

CEEG....nice that your boss brought you your dinner to work. Hope your headache as gone away by now. Feel better.

SHADDIE.....MELLIE and I always had PMs about movement.lol Hope things are moving right along for you. lol. How is lil Miss S? Growing like a weed I am sure. Safe travels girlfriend.

Once again, I am the only one here so far, kind of getting used to it and liking it. Next week is back to the norm. Bleh.

Have a wonderful Friday/eve.

Love and hugs

Good morning. I'm working from home this morning. I'm almost caught up with my work emails--well at least reading them and flagging them for action.

I only have to work until noon--sure if nice to sit on the couch in my pj's and work.

We will be seeing my brother and his partner and their two boys later this evening to open gifts and have dinner. One of my cousins from CA is also in for the holiday's and she is going to meet us at my brothers' so we can all spend some time together. I'm excited!

After I get done with work, I WILL do my walking DVD, then get a shower, maybe write a letter and get it in the mail and then it will be time to head to my brothers. I think I could get used to this routine as long as the pay stayed the same! lol

Annie: I love knowing other cleaners...we get each other! When I clean, I feel better mentally.
Wanted to ask you, how you can have energy when eating no more than 1000 calories? I just couldn't do that. I have always been told that a person shouldn't go under 1200?

Hi to the rest of the Wordly Chics...I hope to again check in later today and see how everyone is.

Have a great Friday!

SUSIE....it was only the first day and I am sure I had enough in my body from the holidays to have enough energy. lol. I have always been told the 1200 cal a day thing also. From previous dieting, I just know I lose better keeping it at 1000. I suppose if I moved more, I would require more. I do not like exercising, as all the other worldlie chickies know. Cleaning...yes...I can scrub the heck out of a bathtub when I am upset. It does make me feel mentally better when my place is clean. Where in Ohio do you live?

Morning all.

Susie - Before you know it, it'll be noon and your weekend begins!! I could certainly get used to working half days - or working three days a week. Someday perhaps. When I'm "retired", LOL. Enjoy the day with your brother & his family and your CA cousin.

Annie - Yay for paydays, especially after Christmas, lol. Yeh, I recall Man of Steel having all those fight scenes, and I didn't particularly like them - waaay too many of them, and I also didn't care for the way they were filmed. I love grilled cheese sandwiches!! Re the 1000 calories - I have the same question as Susie - how do you do it? It just wouldn't be enough for me! Unless I was eating tons of fruit and veg - I guess that would be filling enough to keep the headaches at bay.

Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies!! Have a great day.
==

Temps will be milder today, and tomorrow too. So I guess our snow will melt. I don't mind that at all! Our big oak tree in back still has leaves and has been dropping them bit by bit. Once the snow melts we'll have some soggy leaves on the lawn and patio. Bleh.

Shame on me, I didn't exercise yesterday, but I did take doggy for a nice long walk, and I did shovel the small amount of snow we got on Wed/early Thurs. So I got a bit of activity in.

I'm pretty happy to have a free weekend coming up! Tomorrow is a holiday party given by a couple we know. Honestly, in the past I haven't really enjoyed that gathering much... Bf actually has other plans that will require his early departure from this party, so he has already made excuses for me to be absent - the logistics work out better that way. Besides, the next weekend will be a surprise birthday party for the wife, so we'll see them then.

Sunday we were supposed to go to bf's bro's house for his side of the family's holiday gathering. BF did not respond to the invitation personally - his mother relayed his rsvp. Guess what - last night his brother texted bf that he shouldn't bother coming, taking offense that bf didn't care enough to respond personally. Sigh. This is the brother that used to be a nice, normal person and is now a superficial, materialistic jerk. His daughter has even unfriended him on fb - he can spend oodles of [his wife's] money on his clothes, shoes, gadgets, and golf crap, but won't help out his daughter, who's a single mom to 2 kids living out of state. The way he's changed is really sad when you think about it... Anyway, this is another gathering I wasn't too thrilled about attending, except to have the opportunity to see other members of the family. I feel bad for bf, who was looking forward to seeing his two nieces (his other brother's kids). I guess we'll arrange something separately with the other brother. Sigh.

Well, that was depressing. Anyway, I better get back to work. Everyone have a good day.

LAURA...I understand the brother thing. I have one of those in Illinois like that. Bleh on them. His wife did the Christmas cards and wrote in mine. Having fun in the Phillipines. Love it. Like rub salt in the wound. First her english sucks, they HAD fun in the Phillipines instead of going to dad's funeral. You know that story...anyway, bleh on them.

Good morning ladies,

I have to keep this brief. I came into work early so I could leave a bit earlier. I'm getting together with friends tonight to play poker...really small stakes, the most anyone really wins or loses for the whole night is $5. We just mostly play for the fun of it.

My step-bro is going to start his drive to Belize either tomorrow or Sunday. I'm hoping for Sunday so I can see him once more before he goes.

D is getting prepared for a big bridge tournament that he both participates in and coordinates. He's been playing bridge since he was a kid and really enjoys it. The tournament is in Monterey and since it runs from morning until late night each day, he'll be staying there for a week starting Monday.

I'm going to spend time this weekend getting settled in.

Laura - sorry that bf's brother is being such a jerk.

Annie - Your brother and his wife are a real piece of work too. Bleh.

Sorry I don't have more time for personals...gotta get back to it.

Love and hugs,

Laura
How rude of the bf's brother. I would do the same thing with my sister though if she did me that way. How ridiculous is that any way. I'd say taking the doggie for a long walk was plenty of exercise.

Michelle
1000 calories would cut it for me for sure. But I do need to decrease my food intake a bit more. I do better losing weight at 1400 calories and then I feel as though I'm starving. I like to call cleaning exercise too. IO can work up a sweat at times.

-------------
Yesterday I did take down the Christmas decorations, did the laundry and cleaned the bathroom and kitchen. But didn't even look in the office. Today
I've cleaned the living room and my bedroom. I'm thinking about starting in the office. I also rode the bike for 20 minutes and then did 10 minutes of strength. I also went to pick up my rx's that needed to be refilled.
It's a beautiful day. My jacket was to warm. Also stopped and filled up the tank the RAV4. Ughhh, Annie I didn't that low price this time! It was 3.26 per gallon.
Hellos' to Annie, Shad, Happy and Susie
