Good Saturday Morning,
It's much cooler and very breezy out there. We have the greenhouse butted against the house which is good because DH said it shifted a bit in the wee morning hours. We have it on the cement patio so no way to bolt it down although DH said he was going to put some wood on the outside flaps. I could also take some big rocks and do the same thing. I did snip some leaves from the lettuce mix pots I bought - yum yum. The lady at the nursery said to clip the first few sets so the plant got nice and full. We had leftover pasta for lunch and we kind of full so we had a nice big salad for dinner with thin sliced left over pork chops, lots of fruit, several lettuce greens and some nuts. Topped it with an apple vinaigrette I made and it was good. I think I would have preferred the white balsamic dressing I had but wasn't sure if DH would eat that so I did the apple stuff.
Spent almost all day outside yesterday. Laid out the plants in the garden beds so that DH will know where he needs to build me some support braces for the climbing stuff. I started weeding and prepping the beds too, we will need more compost and dirt and will pick that up when we take a ride to the home improvement store in the next day or two. For being outside all day, I sure didn't get the good night's sleep I thought I would. Just one of those nights. Now, like Annie, I have a full day of chores ahead of me.
Ceejay - Baldnobbers what a name! Glad to hear that you are having fun already. Hope that sets the tone for the rest of the stay.
Annie you busy busy lady. But a good busy doing the things like the garden that you enjoy. Just be careful of that toe - no mowing in flips, ok? I think with the cooler weather now it's a great time to be out doing the hard stuff in the yard.
Mel - I love your new avatar! It's so you and makes me smile to see it. You're getting to be a pro with the computer stuff. Glad you got a smile from the card, I thought it might be something cheerful for those days when life kicks you in the knees. Hope you get your wish for a quiet and peaceful Mother's Day weekend.
Shad - very sorry to hear of your friend G. What a tragic situation. I'm glad you are there to comfort him. And to help Chris too. I had to dig deeper into Excel with my last job and found it most frustrating from the prior version - they flipped some things around and even admitted it didn't work out as well as they would have liked. But if she's learning now, she'd never know that. I found that a lot of times, it's just getting into it and muddling through it. But you are good to teach her and help her out. hope she finds something soon. Would probably be a wise idea to plan a few quiet days after the tooth extraction. People who have had it done said the extraction was the worse part of it because not only do they remove the teeth but have to work on the bone to prep for the next step. The bone is sore afterwards so ask for some extra painkillers. Had to laugh about your magazine selection - I've done the same, only 1 subscription and that's to a food magazine - more for cooking tips and techniques rather than recipes. And I will pick up the occasional magazine on the rack if the cover has good organizing or gardening articles.
Laura - most of the snow is gone although there are still a few spots out in the woods protected by tree cover. With as dry as it is here, I'm shocked things don't dissipate more quickly. Yes, I can't see a windbreaker doing much good for walking in the rain. And the hoods on those things never did fit very well. Guess you need a rain slicker for sure for dog walks, although maybe Coal is ok staying in from the rain too? Sounds like you have a nice quiet weekend - enjoy some relaxing and those killer exercise classes
DH just peeked out the window - it appears that my greenhouse is trying to go aloft. I'd better go out and help him secure it. Have a good weekend everyone.
