Hi guys,

Late start for me - wound up chatting on FB with friends and family. Went last night to see 3 comedians at the local theater. We noticed the parking lot was rather empty - only 10 paying customers. That was rather sad but the guys were funny. I just wished they had done more than a 20 minute set each - hardly worth coming out for, especially since the skies got really dark and we had a downpour of rain.

I spent the better part of yesterday out trimming plants of dead leaves, watering and taking inventory of my plants and pots so I can plant ahead what to put where in pots and garden. We're supposed to get near to freezing again on Thursday when the temps dip but after that I think it will finally be warm enough to put everything into the ground. I am trying to figure out how were are going to manage a trip to Chicago without killing my plants. It's REALLY dry up here. I water the flowers and within 4 hours they are bone dry again. If we go we'd stay for a few days just to make our rounds and see some people and things. I guess I can ask my cousin to come and water a few times but I hate to bother him. The garden would probably be fine if I gave it a good soak, it's the herbs and flowers in pots that need tending too.

Michelle - that's funny to think that a good dog groomer would be booked up way in advance like a good hairdresser but that makes perfect sense. Not ever having a dog I guess I never thought that you cut certain styles for particular breeds. Hope you find your former groomer.

Annie - sorry to hear about the toe. Guess you are going to have to splint it when you are out working. I hope it doesn't develop a weak spot prone to re-injury! And I agree with the others - you sure are one busy busy lady - puts us to shame! Sounds like a nice long weekend with Lil Man - guess you will have to get all your regular errands taken care of ahead of time to make time for grandma and baby fun.

Mel - yikes - poor Jen has to go to the airport again Hope she has a decent drive. So you can hear the birds calling to you on the other end of the phone when Shad calls? Maybe they are asking you to visit

Shad - more beautiful pictures - thanks for posting. You seem to have a lot of really pretty sunrises/sets down your way. I guess certain areas have the right conditions for nice colors. Memphis was that way too but even that doesn't rival some of your pictures and I know photos don't quite capture the real thing so can only imagine how darned pretty it really is. I imagine the stars are more prominent too since you don't have as much artificial city light from the densely populated areas like we do. Nothing like the Milky Way cloud in it's full grandeur. How's the beat up hands feeling this morning? Screening holding well?

Ceejay - thanks for the warm air. Going to be an early summer for you down there?

Laura - guess you won't be planting soon - looks like some heavy storms your way the next few days. Bad weather season seems to be a bit late this year. Usually it's April.

Guess I will finish this off and get some lunch in me. It's trash day and I need to clean out the refrigerators and make a list for fresh vegetables and meat to pick up at tomorrow's shopping trip. Have a good day everyone.

Hi CHELLE...glad you had a wonderful weekend even tho the groomer didn't do so well with Santa's hair do! Hope he is not embarrassed to go outside. lol. Yes one busy weekend. At least the garden is mostly in.

HAPPY....were the comediens not that well known? Seems odd only 10 paying customers. Yes must get all earrands done ahead of time. Tonight is fishish laundry and mop the kitchen and baths, scour. Tomorrow night is dust and vacuum. That is all I am doing. My brother and dreaded sister in law will be here Saturday afternoon, leaving Monday morning. Kinda ruins my weekend a bit. Oh well, you can bet the next time I will already have company staying at my house, even if it is a fib. Bad Annie. lol

Better post and get the rest of this ship done.

Hello Worldlies. Happy Monday/Tuesday.

Mel - I hope things remain quiet around the building since you don't have much confidence in the office in the boss's absence. Leopard print case! Pretty flashy!

Ceejay - Good BP reading - hope it doesn't creep up when you return to work!!

Shad - The window project sounded frustrating, and ouch to the fraying metal screening! Loved the photos you've posted. What stunning sunrises! Glad the run walk jog routine is going well and your knee is almost better.

Michelle - Sounds like a great weekend. So glad you enjoyed dinner with your friends. Along with the rest of the gang, I think you sound happier these days. Not sure I earned the title Exercise Queen this past week, but I'm going to try my darnedest during the next two because I have 10 classes left to use on my punchcard and only 14 days left in this session(through June 2nd) to use them!!

Annie - Poor sass with the eye germs. Ugh, yeh Coal seemed to like the stinky compost we've added to the garden soil in the past. Dogs!! Such little beasts! Sorry you re-injured your toe. So you've got li'l guy this weekend instead of your brother & SIL - good for you.

Happy - Sorry the fish fry wasn't as good of an experience as it could have been. Is this strike two for casino dining?? Too bad. But more of the seasonal spots should be opening up soon... Sounds like you're enjoying your hummingbird guests and that they're enjoying your hospitality. I hope they appreciate the feeders and the fact that you have to take them in each night so the marauding neighborhood bear doesn't lay waste to them!

==
Nothing much else to report. I didn't do much of anything after I posted yesterday, except to walk the dog. Oh, in answer to your question Shad , I usually walk doggie around 1-1.5 miles. Yesterday we went by the creek and it was very warm for Coal, so when we got back I took him to the basement to cool down on the floor. I did that several times over the weekend since he's been panting heavily a lot in these warmer temps. This is something that's become a regular thing in the past year or so, poor guy. But the cold basement floor works like a charm. Saturday I was down there with him and I ended up on the phone with my mom for a while and Coal got a bit too chilled - he got up off the floor and moved to his corduroy-covered cushion. We do still have that cooling pad we bought last year, still in the box. Not sure where we'll set that up...maybe out on the patio.

Quiet around here with the boss gone, but I've got a deadline I'm working against this week. Looking forward to the long holiday weekend.

Okay, back to the fun. TTFN.

Two sneaker-inners!

Happy - No, I probably won't be planting during the week, but I hope to do some this weekend. Hope HD's garden center still has the few things I want in the way of flowers/veggies. I wonder if they get shipments in to replenish what sells on the busy weekends... re leaving your flowers - can you put the pots in the tub and/or sink or somethng and fill the tub a little bit so the pots soak it up as needed?

Annie - Oh, I see you are stuck w/ the bro/SIL. At least the li'l guy will be a great distraction.

Mel
How funny that woman denied opening the window. Don't work to hard this week.

Happy
You are having a learning experience with gardening! I know a wee bit about flowers but veggies nothing. Mom always had me pulling weeds.

Annie
Good grief woman you make me tired. I wish I had all your energy.

Michelle,
It's nice to meet up with friends you haven't seen in awhile and play catch up.

Shad
What are you up to today?

Laura
I thought about you this morning when I saw that our local hospital is offering some exercise classes, and one of them was Tighter Assets. I should go but they are offered on the day's I work till 7 p.m.

-------

I really didn't want to come back to work today but I did. I've been a busy beaver playing catch up on all the paper work. We each to do the same thing so I'm responsible for my part. Also forgot until I got to work that they are draining one of the water tower's for cleaning and repair today. Took 3 hours to drain it. It will be off line for the rest of the week more than likely.
I'm finally getting my strength back from that sick spell on Sunday. So far today no Zantac. My appetite has not completely returned. I'm not complaining about that but kind of surprised that it hasn't.
My lawn still hasn't been mowed and if it isn't by the time I get home, I'll tell the boss man to forget it, I'll do it. If Annie can do all that I can at least mow my lawn.

Happy - Suggestion for ensuring that your plants get enough water while you're away. Watering Globes. They are pretty and if you fill them up, they only release the water when your plants need them. My ex and I used them indoors and out all the time. It was very handy. Here's a link to get them online, but you can probably also get them at Menards or Home Depot for cheaper. We bought all of ours at Menards. http://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Globes-AG.../dp/B000FHAJ90 Also, Laura's idea of putting the pots in the tub is a good one.

Annie - Bummer about your brother and SIL's visit. I'm sure you'd much rather spend the weekend with just C and lil man.

Laura - Good for you for taking Coal out for such nice walks. Santa's walks aren't that long. And I don't even walk him on days he goes to day care because he seems too tired. Since I'm working from home today, I'll either walk him after i get done with work or I'll take him to a dog park - still trying to find the best one in the area. I'm hoping my back will hold up for two doggie walks this weekend - one walk is roughly 2 miles along the beach, and the other walk is about the same length and is on the beautiful campus of Stanford University.

Ceejay - I'm glad you're feeling a little better. I hope your strength comes back soon. Don't overdo it.

Hi Java Turtle.

LAURA....That is a lot of walking exercising when you take Coal out. Good for both of you.

Evening all,
It's late and it has been one heck of a day. I'll leave personals until tomorrow I think.
I have an appointment with the Doc tomorrow to get the results of my biopsy and to get the stitches taken out. So I can bring you the results of that tomorrow.
Some times I think I am going crazy. Today I went to go out for my run, locked the house, and took the keys to their hidey place. Only problem was - wrong set of keys. I used to be able to break into my place easily but not any more since I got the DS2 to burglar proof it while I was away. So I ended up having to break in. The neighbour heard the breaking glass and was about to ring the cops when he decided it was my bottom disappearing through the kitchen window and yelled at me to make sure it was me. That would have been memorable having the cops arrive and arrest me for break and enter. So for the rest of the day I had to wait around for the glass man to arrive. He said he would get here between 2pm and 4pm. And he did. Rang about 1.30 and said he would be 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour and he was. Took him half an hour to fix the glass and relieve me of $180. Still it is fixed and is clean and new.
So for the afternoon I have been working on this document I promised the big T. It should be near enough finished tomorrow. Another day of work on it should put it into reasonable shape to take to him on Thursday for screen dump insertion and the final version should be okay on Friday or Saturday. It's not easy when you can't do it step by step by step and have to rely on memory.
Anyway better go and get some shuteye.

SHADWICK...do you have a neighbor you can trust with a key? Would beat spending 180 bucks to break into your own home. If we forget the key we just use the keypad combo into the garage to get in and my kids both know that one and have keys. Hope you get some good rest. Nighty night.

Morning all.

Mel - Maybe there weas another Worldlie posting when you were trying to navigate the thread. I get hung up on here all the time, mainly when I'm on the computer at work.

Hello Miss Java. Good to see you.

Ceejay - Ah ha! Another Tighter Assets class does exist! Yeh, by the time I eliminate all the exercise classes that won't fit into my schedule, there aren't many left! Frustrating. Back to work for you, bleh. Especially when it's summer and it only seems fair we should get to enjoy the nicer weather!! Hope you catch up on the paperwork. What's with this guy who's supposed to be mowing but isn't???

Michelle - I thought of those aqua globes too, but it sounded like Happy has quite a few pots and that would run into some money. I did buy my mother a couple of those for Christmas one year - they are pretty glass. I'm sure Santa gets all the exercise he needs for the day at the doggie daycare, no need for a walk on those days! Those weekend walks you mentioned sound beautiful! And what great exercise walking on the sand. I meant to tell you I laughed re your comment about eye candy being preferable to the sugary stuff!

Annie - Yes, what a horrible tragedy in Oklahoma. Very sad, so many people lost and so much destruction. Congrats on finishing the garden.

Shad - Hope to hear good news re the biopsy results tomorrow. Sorry you got yourself locked out of the house! We have a key in the garage, which is accessible via the door opener code. I think we used to have a key with a neighbor, but not sure we do anymore. We probably should give one to our neighbor on the other side now - they are more reliable if we were to need the key or have them to go in the house.

Hi Happy!

===
Went to the Corebar class last night even though 1) I don't like using the bar 2) my one hamstring was sore 3) my right knee is slightly strained. But it was a good sweaty workout. This morning my left knee is strained. Groan. But at least it'll get a rest today because tonight is movie night.

Loud thunderstorms hit right as I was going to bed last night. Still, I fell asleep after they'd moved a bit further away and were not as loud. Glad we didn't get hail. We still have to get the garage squared away after the hooks came out of the concrete block wall and the tools fell down so the car won't fit at the moment. Good Memorial Day project?? Perhaps.

We're seeing the movie "Mud" tonight. I think it's a coming of age movie akin to "Stand by Me", not sure, but I've heard good things about it. We'll see.

Back to it. Everyone have a great day.

Good morning ladies,

Super quick check in for me. It's a morning full of meetings, and I've got a big programming applicaition to build.

God Bless those people in Oklahoma. Those poor families who lost loved ones and also their homes. Tornadoes are nasty. I think I'll take the occasional earthquake. No, you don't get any warning with earthquakes, but they very rarely wipe out entire cities.

Laura - Sorry you've now got two strained knees...but I do admire your dedication. I was looking at the websites for local gyms, and am having trouble finding any with classes that are late enough so I can go after work, and yet early enough so that I can pick Santa up from day care. Have fun at the movie! Are you taking any extra days off for Memorial Day weekend? Or just the Monday holiday (which is all I get since I'm a contractor).

Annie - Good on ya' for getting the garden in. I would love to plant some veggies. But my step-mom has both the front and back yard beautifully landscaped, so there's really no room for veggies. I'll have to wait until I get a place of my own.

Shad - I'm saying prayers and keeping my fingers crossed for good biopsy results. Breaking into your own house? It's very good that you have observant neighbors, especially one that recognized your derriere - probably from seeing you work in the garden! Sorry. I don't mean to laugh. What a hassle to have to break into your own house AND wait for the glass man to repair the window you broke.

Mel - I'm glad Richie is back home. Bummer that you're not feeling well. I hope you get better soon.

to Happy and Ceejay!

I've got to get some more coffee.

Much love and many hugs to all,

I'm finally caught up with the paper work. But now I'm watching the radar for the upcoming rain/storms and trying to stay calm. And yeah, the guy's mowed the lawn last night. It looked good.

-----
Annie
It's a wise idea to leave a key with some one you know. I used to have one with a neighbor until I found that she was taking advantage of it. Your gonna have fresh salad mixings before long.

Laura
We had loud thunder for a little bit. The system moved through quickly. Then more this morning and more is on it's way. I'm dreading all this rain. The guys mowing the lawn, is my boss and his son, mainly his son. He has some other projects going on. He's only 12, but his dad was with him when he mowed.

Shad
Hope things go well with the biopsy results. I've broken into my apt too, several times.

Mel
Ugh on the bathroom issues. Sure praying that you do not get that norovirus.

Michelle and Happy hello:

Nothing new to report, which is a good thing.
