I think it's a great idea---if I can afford it by then!! I'm probably the poorest person on the board, so I pick somewhere in my state!! The best month for me would be toward the beginning of July, since school is still out then.
Me and Sherry talked about this for a long time last night. How exciting it would be to really meet each other.
I was thinking maybe somewhere in the central United States, since we all are spread out. Maybe for a 3 day weekend!!! If we start planning and saving our money now, I believe this could happen.
If we plan it for the summer of 2004, there would plenty of time for us to get {skinny} LOL.
Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts and ideas on this!!
CENTRAL UNITED STATES???? Finally, I fit in!!!! No more central then Kansas baby!!!!!! I say Kansas City, it's a larger City with all kinds of neat things to do! Any month will work, probably Summer with all of the school people on our board.
I second Shelley's concern: The only thing that would stop us would be the moola.... I also vote to bring the hubbies along!! I know in our house, Steve knows each of you by name. You guys are regular dinner conversation!!
Or..... you can all come to Dodge City, boring town... but, if your willing to sleep on the floor (no motel expense) and live life with "us poor people" for a few days, your more then welcome!!!
I think it's a great idea! The beginning of July would also work well for me. And Gayle, I am all for saving as much moola as possible, so an invitation to stay on your floor is more than welcome!
If we decide to do this and not sleep on someone's floor, it will probably be cheaper if we were to book a block of rooms during the week rather than on the weekend.
What an awesome idea. If I can afford it, count me in. Right now I am saving for a trip to the Bahamas with my hubby for November (my niece is getting married there). It would be next January before I could even start saving again, but I am game to give it a try.
Since I live in Ohio, Kansas would certainly be closer for me.
Hi girls!!!! Did a little checking if we decided to meet central United States. A good location would be Kansas City Missouri.
I apologize for not listing everyone, this is the list of the people that I did have State and City listings for.
Debbie & Sherry: around 557 miles
Jeanne: 1,628
Carol: 637
Shelley: 1,381
Ramona: 349
Titan Dee: 337
Dee: This one amazed me!! From Canada to Missourri, 827
This is just an estimate of milage, actually, the distance would probably be less to the central location.
I'm still for taking the hubbys. As for ourselves, we never, ever take a vacation and I would feel so guilty if I left Steve at home. Plus, I bet all of the guys would really hit it off!
I'm always up for a weekend getaway...Kansas City sounds fun (I've never been there) but just to stir things up, I wouldn't mind going to Tennesse either because my dh's best friend lives there...Thomson Station (I think it is close to Memphis). Whaddaya think???
Kansas City....Florida........Las Vegas.........Nashville.........Egypt....WHERE-EVER!!! I just wanna meet ya'll!!!!!!!!! Since I never heard from the Oprah show(Where I thought would be awsome to meet) then I thought anywhere would be great!!!
Continue to give ideas........Then later I'll post all the suggestions and we'll VOTE!! Also...we'll vote on "hubby" or "no hubby."
PLEASE save your money! You'll have time! It will be a year from July!!
Jeanne...I live near Memphis and have never heard of Thomson Station. Maybe it's up near the KY border?
Kansas City is about 450 miles from me - a day's drive. I have relatives there. Nashville would also be kick-a$$....especially if we could stay at the Opryland Hotel! (Too expensive, though, I assume....)
Jennelle, Whoops...I just checked with dh and Thomson Station is near Nashville (as you can see I've never been there), I think it would be a fun family vacation for us...dh and kids could hang out with his friend and I could go party with the girls! Las Vegas would be very easy for me (4 to 5 hour drive)...not exactly a low budget destination, and I would be up to any of the other suggestions too.
If you all decide to take families, I still don't think I'll bring mine. I really want this to be a "getaway" for me!! I could actually drive to Nashville, too. That would be a great idea to stay at the Opryland Hotel!!
This whole idea is getting more and more exciting! I hope I have the money by then!!
