Mel
Springfield, MO is about a 5 hour drive from my house. I'm not in the mood any more to go anywhere. I'm in a depressed mood.

Happy
You've hit the nail on the head about the wanting to switch jobs. 20 years at this one is long enough. BUT I'll probably be here another 4 any way, if they don't fire me. I am, however, calling about the job opening at my doctor's office Monday. I'm willing to cut the salary a bit.

Morning all.
Back in Blackwater and getting ready to do the nightshift for the first week. Hopefully it won't last all night. They will get sick of me and send me home or something. Woke up this morning and went for a walk/jog/run around the block and then came back to shower and breakfast. Now I am thinking about doing some shopping for dinners for the week and then back to bed. I guess I will have to leave here around 4pm so need to sleep or at least rest shortly. It's now 9.am

So for now, no personals. May be back in the middle of the night to chat with you all. I've done nothing since the last post except sit on a plane, drive 73km and sleep.

Good Monday Morning All..............

What a groovy weekend. Cleaned house on Saturday then Sam brought the babe over to babysit. Lil man got to spend the night with Nanny. First overnight stay was at Nanny's house. He was so good. Went to bed at 9 pm and did not wake up til 7 am. He stirred a couple of times...tooted..then went right back to sleep...I see he has a LOT of his momma's side of the family in him...lol. Sunday, sissy came for the babe at 10 am. We went to Curtis' house and picked up an end table and lamp for my DS. Then met his oldest DD her BF, Sissy, Chris and babe at Chicago's pizza. First time my oldest and his oldest met...it went well. Of course, lil man was the center of attention. Went shopping at Menard's Hardware,..got new toitie seats for both baths and a few other items. Came hope and had leftover teriyaki baked chicken breasties and sauted veggies. Yummy....today I have beef stew in the crockpot. I love the crockpot cause dinner is pretty much done when I get there...all I have to do is make the salad.

We had terrible tornados in Indiana on Friday evening. Wiped out two entire towns in southern Indiana. Marysville and Henrysville. 13 people dead. The local radio station has already made 100,000 dollars for that area. They are having a telethon. (WFMS 95.5) if you want to go on-line and read about it. It looks just devastating. One family lost 5 members...the only survivor is the grandma. Daughter, hubby and kidlets are gone. The 14 mo old baby girl was found in a cornfield, but died later at the hospital. I can't help it being so emotional, it makes me so sad and cry. Please keep these people and their towns in your prayers.

CHELLE....thanks for texting me on Saturday to find out if we were all ok. Fortunately it did not hit us. It is about 1.5 hours south of Indy near the state line IN/KY (Louisville) area. Sorry to hear about DH, but all is good and he will be good as new before you know it. The 19th seems so far off but will come soon. It is the waiting and unknown that drives us nuts. Don't forget to take care of YOU first or you will be of no help to DH....GOT IT? How nice of your neighbor to clear your drive...it is all about karma...and you and DH are such good people...you are sure to have great things come back to you. xoxo

SHADDIE...work, work, work, girl, you need to take some time for you. I would love to come clean your place for you, for free, but you have to sit back and stay out of my way as I am a whirlwind and when people get in my way, it tends to agitiate me and slow me down....will work for wine. lol

CEEJAY...have you talked to your doc about an anti-depressant? There is nothing wrong with taking them if you need them. I have been on them for 20 years. Every time I go off of them I have to many tears. I am sure I was a depressed teenager also but didn't know enough about it to get help. I look back to my teenage years and know I was depressed. Hope you tummy troubles are behind you now....not in your behind..lol

HAPPY....yum, chinese food, I do have to spread the time between visits tho. Not all chinese food agrees with me. I love love love Kohls...hope you find some good snags. Babysitting was awesome. He is so kissable...lol Better get to reading your gardening books...planting season is upon us and will be here before you know it.

LAURA....OMG, hustle up stairs...you would probably find me on the 3rd floor landing passed out, much less hustle my way up there. NOT. BP is a funny thing...couldn't get mine in control til they doubled the daily dose. I just pitched a major b*tch....I don't want to be on any meds. I am doing well with taking my iron and extra potassium since my blood work came back low on both. Get my thyroid retested tomorrow. I am stopping by the blood draw clinic to get it drawn. I didn't know this but low potassium can be bad for your heart..so I am sure to take it now. I don't remember the connection but will look it up and let you all know.

MELLIE....really? Taking the phones back already...um NOOOOOO. You are not 100% and that was the deal NO WORK til you are 100%. I am serious, this is really not setting well with me. You listen here to doc Anne, she knows her stuff. I WILL be there with the rolling pin and torture weapons. The 8th is your inspection day and also decision day for Peyton Manning's future with the COLTS. Big day for all.

Better get this thing posted and get at it...I have my work cut out for me this week. YIKES!!

Have a wondfully blessed day/night...

Loves and hugs

Annie
When I had my heart stress teest a couple of years ago, that's the only thinig the cardiologist found was low potassium and told me to keep my level at a 5.1. It's lower that I like now but I'm not very good at taking my meds. I had light "heart racing episode" which he called a panic attack. not long ago. but they are few a far between now. Hope you pass the thyroid test. It makes my heart smile to see you so happy. Also glad to see you are okay and the tornado's didn't lave a mess in your town. I was thinking aboaut anti depressants yesterday.

Mel
Don't you dare cancel that appointment next week. We want you 100% before that's done.

Laura,
Stress and worry will most definitely make your bp rise. Mines bee a little high the past couple of days.

Happy and Michelle

----
Had a talk with my friend/boss concerning some things going on here at the plant. He's working with me which is a blessing, therefore, I'm feeling better.

Morning all.

Michelle – I sure hope you can get the biopsy surgery moved up – that seems so far away when your dh is feeling so horrible! That’s quite an involved procedure in terms of hospital and recovery time. I had no idea. I’m praying he’ll start feeling better in the meantime. How nice of your neighbor to plow your drive!! I’m glad you didn’t have to deal with that!! Did you get a nap yesterday? I’m sure you needed it!

Mel – I can just tell from how you write about your doc, he is near the top of your gratitude list. Glad you got a laugh out of my doggy’s antics – he always puts a smile on our faces. It will be fun to see bf’s face if we’re both down there on the floor rolling around on our toys, LOL! I like those graphics – espec. the dinosaur one!!! I understand getting tired of tv. Sometimes I just get so sick of sitting on the sofa, regardless of if I’m watching tv or reading a book. But you know what I’m gonna say – watch so you don’t overdo it!! BTW, boring can be good! Maybe you should think about what your doc would say about taking back the alarm responsibilities, LOL!!! Speaking of overdoing it – my hams are so-so. They feel better with rest, but…no rest for the wicked!

Ceejay – The Smokey Mountains b-day/reunion trip sounds like it would be fun! You’re right, that would be a very long drive – you need to figure out a way to catch a ride with other family members, or to fly there! I sure hope you can work it out. Surprised you’re not going to MO for some vacay time, but sometimes it’s good to have the alone time, and a bigger chunk of it than just a weekend or three days here and there because you can dig into bigger projects. If you finish your spring cleaning you can come up to my place and get a start on ours too, LOL. Sorry you’re feeling depressed – is it general, or about your job/retirement decisions? Maybe a job change would be good, but you’ve got to weigh in as to “better the devil you know than the devil you don’t” and “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence” and so on. Coming from my standpoint, 4 years doesn’t sound too bad either way!

Happy – Bf’s also of your opinion re sanitizing dishes, but I think of all my years growing up and into adulthood washing dishes by hand and never having had any episode of tummy issues (very rare for both bf and me anyway) that I would ever accredit to unclean dishes. So I assume what I’m doing has been fine, no extra drying cycle needed. Good luck with your DW shopping. We love to shop at Abt in Glenview because they will negotiate with buyers... As for the BP log, when I print off my BP report from my monitor this week before I go to the doc, I will at least track back my PMS and TOM weeks and see if I see anything there. As for an eating connection – ugh. It’s already a struggle just to track my eating, but I suppose it might make it easier for me to track if I were also trying to connect my sodium intake to my bp readings. Re the fire stairwell access, yes they do lock those doors. We have no internal stairwell within our space (4 floors), so we use either the elevators or the one set of fire stairwells, and we can access our floors using our key cards. I tried walking the stairs a few times for exercise – ugh, boring and difficult! If I were keen on training for something like that, I’d rather use the stairmaster machine in a gym and at least have a tv screen for entertainment. Or weather permitting, climbing stairs outdoors, like in a stadium or something.

Shad – Did you get DB’s computer sorted out? I hope your son gets those test results soon – must be difficult waiting to hear if everything is okay or not. Those drawer-style dishwashers sound like they would be energy efficient and good for small households too – need only fill one drawer for a small load. How was trip back to the mines? Good luck with the night shift. Another sleep challenge for you I bet!

Annie – These tornadoes have been horrible so far, and it’s still early in the season for them!! So sad to hear about all those deaths. We had them last week in southern IL, and a friend of bf & I lives not far and works really close to Harrisburg where 6 people died. Awful. Sounds like you had a great weekend and enjoyed hosting the little guy. We’ll see how my bloodwork comes back re potassium levels – I should hope they’d be okay because I take a multi-vite, and I also try to eat bananas on a regular basis. Maybe my bp was off kilter because I didn’t eat many last week…we’re not all that good at timing our banana purchases to ensure a steady supply of ones that are ripe & ready-to-eat!
==
Saturday night was fun – my friend told me about her trip to Nashville & showed me photos. It sounds like a long weekend seeing all the live music would be a blast. Then we went out to dinner and then on to the bar that had the band. They were good – a mix of country (some Gretchen Wilson (I think) and Lady Antebellum), and also rock (Journey, the Beatles, Styx, Blondie, etc). Great mix. Bf met us during the break and got to see the 2nd set. Late night though, and I woke up too early on Sunday. Boo. I made up for it with a nap later in the day.

Sunday was lazy – my friend stayed until nearly 1 pm, and we just talked and talked. Dog walk, then lunch out, then out to the library to pick up the dvd I had on hold. I have decided to start watching the “Doc Martin” series (shown on PBS) from the very beginning. Last night (after my nap) we watched 3 episodes. I really enjoy it, and the scenery is just stunning (shot on location in Port Isaac, in Cornwall region of England.)

Nothing much else to report. Might go to the easy step class tonight to get another punch on my passport. I have to register for the new session Pilates classes – starts next week!

Happy Casimir Pulaski day, being observed today in Chicago and the county. Schools and county offices will be closed, but sadly, not where I work. So that means I better get this posted and get back to it. Happy Monday/Tuesday everyone.

Hi everyone -

I'm going to try and play catch up here. After the consult with the lung surgeon on Friday, I had to work (thankfully from home) that evening. I didn't fall asleep until after 11 (which is quite late for me). Right around 10:30, our doggies started going crazy and wanted to go outside. My wonderful neighbor from across the street was using his ATV with plow attachment to plow our driveway. He asked how DH was doing, and I told him not well, and it's pretty much going to stay status quo until after the biopsy. Yesterday, I delivered him a 12-pack of really good beer (the Wisconsin bartering system) and a gift card to Pizza Hut for him and his family to enjoy. He didn't want to take either, and he said that if I need anything else (snow removal or anything) until DH is doing better...don't hesitate to ask. What an awesome guy! I told him that if he ever needed computer repair or car repair...we can help him out in those areas.

On Saturday, I ran a couple of errands and went to hear readings from a local writer's group that holds readings roughly twice per year. Members in the group are working on novels, short stories, and poems and span many genres. The group meets once per month at which time every member delivers 12-15 pages of their writing to each of the other members...then the following month, they meet to discuss what was turned in the previous month. I'm thinking it might be the impetus to get me to write - I'd have to write a dozen or so pages every month. I also am trying to do better in the area of time management, so that I have time for cleaning, decluttering, caring for DH and the doggies, website work AND writing. The rest of Saturday was spent relaxing. I was exhausted probably from being up late (for me) on Friday night, and all the stress lately.

DH wasn't able to go to work today...he felt too dizzy and like he was going to pass out, so I didn't want him behind the wheel of his SUV. Since he's out of sick/vacation days, if he can't drive tomorrow, he might just start his short-term disability now, which would mean he'd be on disability for at least 5 weeks (2 weeks until the surgery and at least 3 weeks post-surgery). Whenever he starts the short-term disability, he'll miss a week of pay...so that sucks...but we'll manage. The important thing is his health. Quite frankly, I'm scared of losing him.

Frankly, I'm now scared of losing my sister as well. I talked to her yesterday to tell her about DH, and she told me that her blood test came back with VERY high protein values for her kidneys. She has type 2 diabetes, high BP and high cholesterol, and though she won't know until Thursday when she sees the kidney specialist, but this could be a sign of her kidneys starting to shut down. I'm praying that she doesn't need to do dialysis or a transplant...but of course if she needs a transplant and I'm a compatible match...I've got one to spare.

As for me, my bronchitis is getting better - not 100% yet..but getting there. I'm done with antibiotics and have a few days left of steroids. DH is still cautioning me not to overdo it. He reminds me that I need to get better so that I can be healthy enough to take care of him.

**************

Mel - I'm sure the inspection this week goes well. I know you feel ready to take back the alarms and such, but PLEASE don't overdo it. It's too easy to relapse, not to mention you don't want the cut on your head to get bad again. And definitely don't let the office or tenants suck you into any drama. I'm not feeling good about your increasing your workload while you're still recovering. And DO NOT cancel your appt next week. Your health is far too important. I'm really glad the doc is calling to check up on your and make sure you're behaving yourself. I know what Jen is going through being exhausted from worry.

Ceejay - Did your sister's place in Branson sustain any damage from the tornados? Bummer that you felt you had to cancel your trip to Missouri. I agree with Shad, do whatever you have to do to get to the birthday/reunion. Families are so important. I hope you're feeling better. Try and get some sunshine - that might help your mood and make you feel better overall. I'm glad your friend/boss is working with you on your concerns.

Annie - I'm so glad you had such a wonderful weekend and that the tornadoes weren't near you. So sad about all the devastation and loss of life. You must be getting excited about vacation too! That's excellent you got a good paying cleaning job from your co-worker moving!! I like the March Madness thread title, but I definitely want to move the muck out of March (and my body and DH's body) this month. There's lots I want/need to accomplish...and I will get it all done.

Laura - Thanks for posting the link to more of the mastiff puppy photos! So cute! I've pulled that upper hamstring/glute muscle before and "rolling it out" on a foam roller does help a lot. Another good stretch is to lie on your back in a doorway and put the sore/tight leg vertically up along the door jam and get your butt as close to the wall as you can. I agree with Happy...tennis ball is okay...but not nearly as good as the foam roller. That's a really good hamstring/butt stretch. I hope you had a good weekend with your friend and that the band was good.

Happy - Do you have overhead power lines? We live in the country, but have underground lines so we only lose power when the substation takes a hit. However, with all the wet, heavy snow, several communities with overhead lines in and around Milwaukee lost power for hours. Go figure. Sounds like you had a lovely drive to Rice Lake! DH goes there at least once per year for work. He really enjoys the scenic drive. Congrats on the $200 win out of the slot machine!! That should definitely cover the cost of a hair appointment. Wishing you and your DH a happy anniversary!! If you still need stuff from Kohl's, we're having a "Friends and Family" discount weekend coming up March 16-18 to save 20%.

Shad - Unfortunately, they can't do the biopsy any sooner. The doc is away at a conference this week and booked all next week. You're a good sister to help out DB1 with his computer woes.

Anyway, I hope we all have a good day with minimal stress, maximum health for us and our loved ones, and lots of smiles.

Much love and many hugs,

Quick fly by. Bored stiff here. Nothing much to do. The guys are too busy with other stuff. I've been banned from wandering around the plant and must stay in my office until someone comes over to fetch me and then I get escorted back as well. It's not something I did, just the guys making sure that I don't get bitten by a snake or fall over a brick or a truck or something. But it makes for a slow solitary evening. I'm tired of solitaire spider or any of the other games on this computer. Might have to see if I can get the wi-fi modem to work on my laptop out here. I suspect not, but you never, never know until you try.

Everytime I get to start on this post, some one comes in to distract me. Maybe I should just stay typing until dawn or whatever. 6.00am is coming - in about 2hrs and 25 minutes but who is counting.

By the way, did I mention that a snake (a very small one) came into our training class one day? It slithered across the floor. Have no idea where it thought it was going. One of the blokes saw it, stood up, put his chair on the snake and sat down again. When I asked what type of snake it was, he replied ' a dead one' and chucked the body outside. Such is life in the training department.
We have had butterflies and bats, lizards and rats here at one time or other. I will put up with anything other than rats.

Hi folks,

Thank you for the anniversary wishes. 35 years today. Time does fly and I must say it gets better as time goes on which is a nice thing. We were supposed to go to dinner at a steak place but they called this morning and said only the bar area is open during the week (things are really slow in town this time of year so many places are closed or have limited service during the week). This is a nice, pricier place - not sure I want to eat on a small high bar table. DH is going to check it out on his rounds today - if I had known that, we could have gone to full service dinner yesterday.

Shad - sorry you are bored - night shifts are the worst. Maybe you need to pick up a Suduko book again although that's only good for a few hours. Or an e-reader and read some books although you probably don't get much in the way of internet service out that way. My sister and I were talking about all the cool things you see in your part of the world. She said she'd drive off the road if she saw flocks of birds - especially what we consider exotics here - just sitting in a tree checking out the human traffic I said you don't want to drive off the road by you - might get run down by a loaded mining truck

Mel - please don't cancel your appointment. I know you must be sick and tired of being sick and tired by now but you also know you have to take good care of yourself. I'm glad you are feeling back to your old self again. Maybe Shad needs to teach you Suduko Loved your quote today - it's a good goal to strive for. And yes, those pine squirrels are petite and cute but everyone says they are major destructive and I was shocked at how vocal they are. To us. Ballsy little things

Annie - glad you had a good time babysitting. It's really scary about the tornadoes and damage nearby. Makes you count your blessings. I guess there is a huge price to pay for unseasonably warm weather. My heart goes out to all who have lost things - it's unbelieveable how devastating that can be until you see it for yourself.

Michelle - nice of you to offer beer to the neighbor but helping out in times of need is what makes us good people. We should be there for each other. I'm glad you have one of those people nearby. When I had my biopsy it was in an awkward position in the bottom of my lung and my ribs were in the way. The doctor did an amazing job of getting it with a needle. He said you want to avoid DH's type of biopsy as a last result because of the chance of a collapsed lung which I guess is not as easy to reinflate as one would think. I know money is tight but he may be better off on short term disability for the time being. He's been so sick and run down - seems like he is in worse shape than any bronchitis or severe cold that we have had to deal with. And I'm sure he's not the kind to over dramatize how he's feeling so the poor guy must just be wiped out. Thanks for the tip on the friends and family sale.

Laura - I'm not a freak about santizing things, I mostly laugh at the intense heat of the dishes and figure nothing will survive at that temp The only time I get freaky about sanitizing is those rare occasions when I forgot something in the refrigerator for a long time and I am afraid to breathe when I open the container and look inside But that hasn't happened in years - I keep better control on the rotation now You are smarter to air dry the dishes - it really burns an incredible amount of energy to let the dishwasher dry them. Happy Pulaski Day to you too. I think it's a holiday in Chicago as a nod to the large Polish population in the city. My dad would tell me about Pulaski when I was a kid. I thought he was trying to explain how the main street on block over where I grew up got to be named Pulaski So have you noticed any difference in your body having done Pilates for a while? Are the movements any easier for you?

Ceejay - you remind me of me with the restlessness of work. It's hard to get refocused again when you are just so tired of the junk at work. All I can say is that I agree with the others about giving up a 20 year career over the unknown. I guess one consideration is it you stand to get more in retirement benefits if you add more years of service. Alot of places cap pension at a certain dollar amount after x number of years so it doesn't matter if you work 20 or 25 years. And maybe a part time doctor's office is not so bad if you retire and start to collect a pension and use the doctor's office to supplement. But would you continue to get medical benefits? My friend left a stressful job at a grade school to work in a doctors office and saw her hours cut drastically as more and more people opted out of elective surgery which was the doctor's main practice. So it wound up not being what she thought it was. So much to consider... and then my other advice is to figure things out on paper as much as you can, see if you can make a go of it and then just do it. Just don't blindly jump into things

Guess that's enough computer stuff for now. Happy Monday - must be wash day!

I told myself last night that I would talk to my boss/ friend this morning. I did. And he agree's with me.I feel 100% better. I still do not want to go to MO. Hope she understands. I tell Her I'll try to come in May when she is more settled in her new job and surroundings.

Yikes on the snake. That bloke acted fast. Being excorted in and out of the building at night isn't a bad idea. I'll have to think about the Smokey MT trip a little more.

Had to go back and read your post. My heart's desire would be in the medical field, maybe at retirement. Never did call the dr's office today.
I figured my income based on the federal minmum wage and I could not make it. It would make a nice supplement income. With my boss helping me get to the bottom of some things here, I feel a lot more confident.

Well here we are again - another lovely nightshift. And it is piddling down out there. The toads are having a wonderful time. I don't think the guys are from what I overheard.
We're not having the greatest time with this implementation. It's a disaster to try and find something in the store and if you do manage to find it, then it is probably stocked at Moolarben or if it is at Yarrabee store, then there is none in stock. Twice we have had to go over to check out the shelves because we can't find it in the system. It's fun driving along in the dark and seeing some interesting wildlife.
Talking of wildlife, today I saw a pheasant on the side of the road. It was a reasonable size bird too. Would have done nicely in the pot. that really wasn't what I meant to say.

It's March 6th here today - DS1's birthday and they got the test results back on the baby. All is well so now I have to think about being a grannie. Yesterday was also my nieces wedding anniversary - no 1. How time does fly. To think that one year ago, we got together in NZ for the wedding.

Mel - Happy birthday for the 7th. Hope it is a good one for you. Like the others, I wonder about you taking back the alarms, but like me, you have this horror of sitting still for too long. If Jen has managed to stem the tide of alarms, then maybe you could take them back for the daytime and leave them with Jen overnight or whatever.

Happy - Hope you told the squirrels where to get off. Who pays the taxes on this joint babies.

Ceejay - you must do what you must do to ensure you live your life to the fullest possible. If you don't feel like going somewhere don't. You spend a lot of time going to see family, never seems that they come to you.

Annie - Happy Annie. It's good to see. Long may it be

Laura - Still stiff and sore? Hope things have come right for you by now. You sure are the exercise queen around here.

Michelle - hope you are both feeling better now. You've really had a bad stretch this year. Look after yourself.

Gotta go.

Shad
thanks for the reassurance that some times we have to have some down time.
----

I did call my sister last night and she fully understands why I did not need to come. She told me that when I didn't answer the phone she thought I was sick again. She and bil stayed in the condo this week end and she by herself this week. I really want to go see the area. It's by one of the lakes. She told me that bil was willing to retire there. One of his past time is fishing. He would't have to go far. Think I might like to retire there also
