Hi!

I hope Peaches is okay.

I've been swamped with school work, especially since the school changed books without telling the students, so my book doesn't have any of the assigned poems in it. Me and my super slow computer have to do internet searches for the poems. Plus I feel stupid in one of my classes. Oh well.

Lushie, I think Librarian sounds good, but I don't think I would want to be a librarian in a regular library because I've heard that weirdos sometimes hang out at libraries and I'm scared of weirdos. I wouldn't mind being a middle school or high school librarian, though. Maybe. I'm like you. I just want to spend the day doing something pleasant, look nice (and have enough money to buy nice clothes), and have nice lunches with dh.

Well, the school band teacher told the kids they couldn't do solos in the upcoming band festival unless they take private lessons. Since then, he has told two other versions of the same story, each trying to make himself look better. DS1 says he and another girl asked specifically if they weren't allowed to play and he said yes and now he says he didn't know DS1 wanted to play. (The teacher also says it was just a "suggestion" that they not participate.) The other girl doesn't want to get her parents involved because he retaliated against her last time her parents went to the principal. He also chewed DH out for going to the principal. With someone like that, you have to cover the bases BEFORE confronting them. Now DS1 is afraid he'll be yelled at on Monday. THIS is why I don't want to become a teacher. I couldn't work with people like that. DS1 is first chair. He's very good. He could be great one day. We're going to get private lessons for him, but we have to wait a couple more months. Now, it's like we're being blackmailed. (Need I say, said teacher offers lessons for pay? Not for DS1's instrument, though.) DS1 has a chair test next Thursday. If he is punished, we're transferring him to another class for the rest of the year. He can start up again next year in private school.

It's been one thing or another since he started at this school.

Oh, yeah, and I've gained weight and my knees still hurt.

I never do either. One year I got him a mailbox (actually just to replace the one we had) and a lamp shade. I swear. And he was delighted. Go figure. Usually if I give something I would consider a good gift, like a book or some clothing, it never gets read/worn.

Congrats to the big guy!! Amazing -- 10 years old!

Well, the coffeehouse thing was a bust. We got there and there was a sign outside saying they were closed because of a benefit concert in the next town. So, having driven an hour to get there, we decided we'd go to the benefit concert. It was in a town hall, which was quite spacious and had a nice stage, plus refreshments, so I was thinking Good Choice! Then the music started -- first up was a woman, hmm let's say she would fit in quite well right here, who sang 3 original sort of folkie type songs. DD and her friend did a lot of this: Then came the main act -- some 50-somethings in a 6 piece band doing mostly rock songs from the 60s and 70s. It wasn't bad, actually, but after about 3 or 4 it started getting tedious. And the girls were practially lying on the table groaning. We finally took pity on them and came home.

So next time we decide to do this, we will be calling first.

And I only got a subway sandwich -- I didn't get to go out to dinner! And I'm starving now! Must go eat popcorn....

What a nightmare, Cherry! You would think they would be very careful not to seem to "exclude" anyone based on what they might be able to afford outside of school!! Unfortunately some people just should never be involved with kids at all. I'm so glad we have had very few problems like that with DD's teachers. Probably because the school system is so small, I don't know.

I know what you mean about library weirdos -- when I was in college, I was doing some research in the Boston Public Library one time and this woman came up to me and started asking me to help her make a phone call. I naively tried to help her. About an hour later, I was doing everything I could to get away from her without actually screaming at her -- I think she was looking for someone to take her home or something (seriously deranged). Creepy.

This is sickening -- read the announcement at the top of the forum. Why would a porn spammer think they were going to get a lot of business from people here? Just pure meanness if you ask me.

What porn? No one sent me porn, unless you count those emails I receive promising to give me additional "length" you know where.
DS11's bday party was today, raving success. I'm exhausted.
Other than that, I'm fat. More at 11.

I didn't see any spam here either - they must have removed it. Spammers are such idiots. What a waste of time.

Bagzieeeeeeeeeeeee! Thank you so much! You are soooo sweet. She is hanging in my kitchen window now.
