It was nice outside yesterday. I'm hopng this is the last of the lawn mowing. Everything looks dead from the lack of rain. Fall clean up began yesterday also as the pine needles and leaves are falling now. I may get the girls down the street to help me do this.

Mel
So sad that you have to have a big bully in the crowd. Very proud of you in the way you are handling things. It's 62 the morning and I've decided to put on a long sleeve sweat shirt. A big cool down is expected on Wednesday.

Laura
I need the company on the challenge. I'm going to be logging my food on Fiday.com. This sight has improved big time.

I'm putting myself on a 7 day challenge. I'd really like to get out of the 190's before the end of October.

Morning all,
Another lovely day in paradise, now watch someone come stuff it up.
This weekend has been a bit of a weird one. There was a stuff up over our accommodation, compounding by Scotty not reading his e-mail properly. We had jokes flying around about the type of bridges we wanted to sleep under. Anyway, I had it all sorted, there is a bridge out on the way to the mine which has a shallow ledge underneath and a path by the waters edge (the cattle and assorted wildlife use it to cross the road - or rather go underneath it). I was asking if a sleeping bag came under the reimbursable costs for the project. To cut a long story short, the powers that be decided it was not a recommended practice to have a project person out on the streets and they came up with a B & B. Now Aussies and Kiwis have never really taken to the idea of B & B apart from when they travel to the UK or Europe, so I rang the B&B from work and spoke to the lady of the house - who was quite happy to wait up for me even if I finished work at midnight or beyond. And she would be dressed as well - did I really need to know that. The couple who run this place are from the US. One from North Carolina and the other from Pennsylvania. Husband and wife I presume. She loves the garden and he loves the sheep they have here. They are some sort of South African breed that have sort of hair rather than wool. At first glance they look more like goats.
These people have a big house on 10 acres a couple of miles out of Mudgee. I think she might have been a Thalidomide child as she is missing right hand and a chunk of the forearm. There is no sign that she ever had one in the first place.
Anyway, they serve the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. I'll put some photos up asap and let you see the view from the patio and laundry.
Yesterday I went to an old countrytown called Rylstone and another called Kandos. They are right on the edge of the Wollemi National Park which is the Western end of the Blue Mountains near Sydney. I didn't go to the park itself, instead I went to a place called Ferntree Gulley which is a walking trail with views. Since I got there too late to walk the track, I had a late lunch there and then came back and went to the Iris farm near Mudgee. Iris' in every shape, size and colour. They were beautiful. The place had some water lilies as well. Photos will be forthcoming eventually. I have them on the computer but need to sort them out and post them.

Annie - Good luck for Wednesday. I just know you will get through with flying colours this time. Good ol' Curtis - there to check that you know your stuff.

Happy - Congrats on selling the house. Must be a big relief. Just do as Annie says - pack not clean. The cleaning will be much easier as soon as the stuff is out of the house. By the way I discovered some window cleaning cloths that work magic on the window and you don't have to use cleaner. Just damp one of the blue cloths and wipe over the window and dry with the white one. Damned if I can remember what they are called but they worked really well on my very dirty windows.

Michelle - hope you got all the reports covered before the freeze. Interesting concept - no changes over the Christmas/ New Year period.

Mel - sad to here that there is confusion, crud and corruption following the exit of a maintenance manager. Stupid *******s, don't they know that without direction nothing gets done. Those women in that clip art on your post are all talking at once. Hope someone is listening

Laura - Sounds like you are getting a bit of exercise in. Good stuff. By the way what did you get up to with those vikings?

Ceejay - Glad you told the neighbour to sod off. She is weird. If you get the girls to help you, will that begin all the problems you had with them before again???

Okay, time to take a walk/ run and then get ready for the breakfast (berry pancakes I believe today) and pack my stuff ready for the next weeks care packages for the blokes. Some get it, some don't. Time to work out where to direct the energy I think.

Back with more scintilating tales from the mines later.

Unfortunately the girls didn't leave. There brother had to much on his plate. Maybe one day. Hope today is also quiet. It was 55 this morning.
You mentioned the landlord in your post. I'm waiting till Thursday for them to come by. My house will not be in such a turmoil by then.

Shad
So glad that you didn't have to sleep under the bridge with the wild life. Your B and B sounds like fun. Enjoy your week end.

Nothing new here. Back to work today.

Good morning all,

Sorry I didn't comment yesterday. Must be goofy from the cold medication Didn't do much of anything yesterday. We went out to pick up a prescription for DH, I got a few groceries to tide us over. We came home and took naps. He thinks he's coming down with whatever I have. I am coughing so hard it makes me gag and my chest hurts alot. It's mostly coughing with an occasional sneeze. I don't think I am contagious. Hoping this goes away soon as I have a 3 day tolerance for sickness and I'm on day 5 or 6 already. If nothing else I see the doctor for a follow up on blood tests, if she thinks I need anything more to fight this I can get it from her. Our nights are cool but it's still getting warm during the peak of the afternoon - DH said it was supposed to get up to 88 today. Then on Wednesday a cold front hits and it's supposed to dip down into the 50's. It's already getting below freezing up north - DH said they are talking about cold rains and snow showers by the time we move up north. Guess we'll walk right into winter up there - missed the autumn completely.

Mel - I'm sorry for what is going on in the office. Quite frankly it sounds exactly like what goes on in business nowadays. Just makes you want to shake your head at the absurdity of it all. You wonder how much worse it can get. I have to admit that I finally gave up - can't give in to it - and that's the biggest reason I am glad to be walking away. I can't change it, no use fighting it - so I'll pull into myself and ignore it. For your own health you have to also. If there is no one there to step up with good sense and force change, things will deteriorate. Just hard to watch it happen before your eyes. I'm glad you got your chair all winterized. Now you need one of those plastic snow shields that go on the blowers - have shack will travel

Shad - glad to hear you had a nice time at the B&B. Was probably way better than sleeping under a bridge. So the woman from from North Carolina? That makes her a bit southern but in a different way than from around here. And all those flowers to admire also - sounds like a nice weekend getaway - just what you needed. Now it's back to the coal mine again - we use that as a figure of speech but you are really doing it!

Ceejay - good luck with your challenge - it sounds like a good one. I agree with the others - probably not a good idea to stir up the girls down the street. It always ends in a hassle for you.

Laura - boy you took me back for a minute there with the analogy to starting school and finding you were already behind! Been a long time since I felt that way but I can sure relate! I have to give props - your company sure takes fund raising to a new level. Sounds like you have some great ideas. If people are going to give up their money, at least have fun with it!

Annie - I hope the studying is going well and you aren't feeling at this point like your head will explode right off your body! I'm sure you will do well - and prayers for you to fly right through it!

Michelle- come up for air - 2 weekends left until the freeze. At least by this time next month you can (kind of ) take it easy. A shame to miss the last days of fall but that's what working in retail is all about, right? Hope you don't knock yourself out.

DH is out in the yard, guess I need to get busy here myself. Going to a BBQ this afternoon - it's a one hour drive each way but I don't want to disappoint her. Need to make some coleslaw and strawberry spinach salad to take with.

Hope you're all having a sunny Sunday except for Shad who's snoozing at this point

Morning all,
Not going into work early this morning as I have to meet some people at the airport. I did think of going in early and then coming back but decided nahhhh....... it's cosy in this bed.
Yesterday I went back into Ferntree Gully and walked the track, then came back and settled into my new digs - which given luck will be the last move until I go home (28th October but who is counting). Ferntree is quite a pretty place but it is not an easy walk. There is lots of scrambling over and under fallen trees, around and over moss covered rocks and underneath big rocky overhangs. But it is very doable. I took some pictures and am trying to download them now. The system is not co-operating this morning.
I'll be back with personals just as soon as I work out what the problem is.

Good Morning/Evening All...

The weekend was long, but short. Spend ALL day Saturday studying then Curtis and I went to my older brother's surprise 60th birthday party. It was at a clubhouse at an apt complex, very nice. About 30 people showed up. He was actually surprised. Spent all day Sunday studying from about 11-6pm,then Curtis popped over and made me go to the park with him for a walk on the trails....it was a good thing as my brain was fried. Then he took me to my favorate Mexican resaurant for dinner. Quite nice. Colts got beat, Bears won...one out of two not bad. AND MY CARDS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES. Yeah. If the Cubbies can't go then GO CARDS! Of course, the Cubbies don't usually go anywhere..lol. Too sad about Indy car drive Dan Wheldon...I actually cried when I heard it. He leaves behind a wife and two little boys...newborn and 2 yrs old. He was such a great guy...

SHADDIE...love the pix. Even in all the BS work places you have to go to, seems you always find something nice to do. Good for you!

CEEJAY..hope the Nasonex works for you....it is good stuff.

HAPPY...sorry to hear DH has caught onto something..maybe it will pass quickly. It has to be a relief having the house sold and able to move on.

MELLIE...You can rant all you want, Lord knows we all do now and again. Hope you got some Mellie down time after finishing the paperwork.

CHELLE...You must be a busy beaver, hope all is well with you and DH.

LAURA...let's get that BP in check. When the pressure is up it can make other parts of our bodies hurt. Like my head....lol.

Not much else going on here, back to studying....oh boy.

Love and hugs...

Good morning ladies,

10 more workdays. Yes Mel, I told DH yesterday that I am afraid to believe it's true. We have worked very hard to get to this point and I half expect someone to snatch it away from us. I was thinking this morning, I won't even have a full two weeks off as the movers are coming on Wednesday and Thursday to pack up the house. DH is making sure we are not here on the 11th After spending the last 5 days coughing my fool head off, the crud in my lungs is finally getting a bit thicker. Not sure if that is good or not. I do have a doctor's appointment this morning for bloodwork follow up - I'm going to ask her about a few things as this will probably be my last chance before the insurance switches over on the 1st of Nov. And I still haven't received my paperwork for retirement including signing up for insurance We pay an outside company for this and it takes them a month to do anything. Yesterday we went to a bbq by my co-worker's house. She has a great house way out in the country. It was over an hour's drive. Lots of land, very nice spread - makes you forget you live in this crummy city but for the life of me, I can't imagine living that far out and commuting twice a day. Her DH made a pork roast on the grill - slow cooked and oh so tender. Yum. And she gave me some garden tomatoes and green beans. Tonight we are meeting a friend for dinner.

Mel - I loved your little table. It will fit right in. I see there's a cover on top where you can store your moose jammies and goose grease Will be fun to pick out your new furniture - just get stuff that will keep you warm.

Shad - sorry you have to play bus driver to the stars. Looks like they found more to add to your job description. Makes it a bit difficult to say no once they've found someone they can impose on. Good that you hung back at the room rather than scrambling to get to work, turn around and disrupt things and then try and catch up. The orchids are just gorgeous. The brown one reminds me of some leather reproductions I saw once upon a time.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend. I'll try and catch up with the rest of you lot at lunchtime.

Morning,
Nothing new here. I do start my newest routine this morning. I wanted to exercise last night but only got in 15 minutes on the stamina bike before I got winded. That will improve.

Happy
Wow 10 more working day's till your out of here--the South. It will go by fast.

Shad
I would have liked to have been on that trail with you. It sounded beautiful.

Annie
Is it tomorrow you are taking the test again? Good for Curtis making you take a break.

Mel
Hope your day is a good one. I also like that little moose table.

Laura and Michelle good morning.

Morning all.

Mel - Things must not be good over there for you to have vented and then edited out the venting - must have been some venting. All I bought this weekend was a single pair of shoes for work. Need to get back out there and shop some more. As for the iron - I just might get a Rowenta this time around. Re the Vikings - I'll never tell.

Ceejay - Good goal for October, and good idea to do a 7-day challenge. Maybe I should do something like that to jump start myself. Okay, I just logged some food on My Fitness Pal. I suppose I should "true-up" my ticker. I will weigh-in tomorrow morning and do that. Glad the landlord is on the schedule for this week.

Shad - Oh, the b&b sounds much better than under the bridge, LOL, especially with a good breakfast. I did a daytrip of the Blue Mountains when I was in Sydney oh so long ago, and Ferntree Gulley sounds familiar...need to open my photo album and jog the old memory. Or maybe it's the Disney movie - which I'm sure I've never seen, so why would that be what rings the bell??? Ooh, the iris farm (and water lilies) sounds like nice things to see. Very pretty - thanks for posting the photos!

Annie - I get the short weekend but long...sounds like yours was nice. Even though the Cards are the enemy, I suppose it would be nice if a midwest team won it. Yay for da Bears. Very sad about that racecar driver...

Happy - Get well wishes to you and that dh doesn't catch what you have. Yeh, I think the country-themed parties were fun, and should be considered again for next year. The Germany party won as favorite - it was either the guys in their leiderhosen (or whatever those short pants outfits are called) or the beer tasting that made it so popular. OMG - 10 work days left!! Woohoo!! I hope all the paperwork is done by then! The friend's bbq sounded great.

Hello Michelle!!
===
Kept fairly busy this weekend, so I didn't make it here. Sat. morning I went to a Circuit class. So hard getting back in the swing of things, but I will persist. Rest of day: stitched the strap on my purse - it was just about to come apart. Sorted and did a load of laundry; lunch; dog walk (we also stopped at the park and took over 3 tennis courts and threw a tennis ball around for doggy); Walmart; supermarket; dinner/tv.

Sunday morning started off lazy, then I got going - went to the market, dropped off my RX, bought a few things, picked up the RX, and then back home.

Dressed and back out to bf's mum's for dinner w/ the aunt, bf's bro/SIL/2 nieces. That was chaos. BF ended up spending most of the afternoon in the kitchen w/ his mom hovering over him. I know his mom thinks it's nice to make a favorite dish for the sons, but it's too labor intensive to make for 8 people. The dish was breaded/fried pork tenderloin. Yes, tasty enough (not a fave of mine though), but not the kind of dish for entertaining unless you want to spend all your time in the kitchen and not with your guests. And then bf decided to save her the labor by doing it for her (butterflying, flattening, breading and then frying the meat), but instead of his mom taking this opportunity to visit w/ her family, she just stayed in that tiny kitchen to hover over bf, who is completely able to make that dish without help or advice.

What was funny was that when bf wasn't in the kitchen, his 2 nieces (10 & 12 yo) would not leave him alone! He enjoyed spending the time w/ them, but he was rather frazzled by the time we left. And he was annoyed that his brother pretty much walked in the door and immediately turned on the tv and spent the afternoon watching football and racing. Oh well, next time we need to make sure bf's mom picks a make-ahead or pop-in-the-oven type meal that doesn't require constant tending. We'd also be fine with having everyone over by our place for these get-togethers, but the aunt is afraid of our dog...sigh.

Back at home, we walked doggy and then sacked out on the sofa to watch the football game and eat chili for dinner.

Okay, gotta run. Yeh, the working meeting Friday afternoon was overwhelming, and I have plenty to work on this week.

Morning all,
Playing taxi driver again this morning and will go out to work around 10.00 and get home around 10.00 as well. Have no idea who I am looking for at the airport but will stand around in a prominent place and wear my 'team' tee shirt. Provided he isn't blind, he will see me. I refuse to hold up a sign in a place when the only plane landed carries 20 people all of whom will probably end up on a mine somewhere. No doubt the office folk have described me to him anyway. Dark hair with streaks, short, round, dressed in PPE gear, probably is frowning and looking impatient, doesn't like finance or hr people and doesn't suffer fools. Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought to be thick, than open it and remove all doubt. Oh and if you are a nervous passenger, get in the back - she drives fast.

Mel - Ferntree gully is a movie - surely it isn't the one I was in. Can't see them getting cameras and gear in there. Picture of the gully attached. More to come.

Laura - my mother used to be like that in the kitchen. She never thought that anyone could do as well as her. They probably didn't either. She was a superb cook.

Ceejay - your turn at retiring and moving will come. Let's not wish our lives away just yet.

Happy - just a word of warning here. When you finally settle down up north and start to relax, you will probably catch all sorts of doozy virus' and bugs. It's adrenalin that is keeping you going at the moment. Be prepared for doing nothing for some weeks after you get up there. DH's quest for perfection will just have to wait a while.

Annie - good luck for the test tomorrow (Wednesday is it not??? Tomorrow for me) I'll be there in the background telling you to knuckle down and concentrate! but you will get through it this time.

Missing Michelle. Hope she is just snowed under with work and coming up once in a while for air. Speaking of which I have more than enough to do to keep me going until next Easter and this must be done by end of November. So with that in mind, I have cancelled my trip to NZ in November and will instead spend a week working from home in order to get my head back together. Then we are off to Yarrabee in Central Queensland not far from the Sapphire fields of RubyVale, Sapphire and Anakie. I might get to go fossicking again. That would be fun. Wish I could say the same about work and this particular project. However I will carry on with more of the same until I have enough to retire. That will be about 20 years hence the way I am going.

See ya. Oh the pictures attached. One is Ferntree Gully and the other is the Cherry Blossom tree at the B & B. Count the birds. More photos to come.
