Hello, hello - out of the fantasy world and back to reality for me. Geez what a LONG trip. Hauling the trailer we can't go much faster than 55 or 60 mph so that's a 12 to 14 hour trip one way to Rockford, IL where we stop for the night and another 7 hour trip up north to the new house. I did drive, but just a bit to spell DH before he fell asleep at the wheel. We brought my cousin's trailer back with us - it's big and I'm not entirely comfortable driving with it but I know I have to help out DH with the driving.

New house is wonderful. Now that we are there we see little things that need to be fixed or attended to but outside of the deck, nothing major. I did not have TV, internet or a phone for 10 days and can't say I really missed it much. There is lots of light from the windows and it gets lighter earlier up there (I got up at 4am one morning as DH was snoring up a storm) and was surprised at how light the sky was. It also threw us out of whack because it looked like dusk - we thought it was 6pm and it was actually 9pm - really screwed up eating dinner as it turned out to be way later than we thought it was so a couple of nights we just opted for some cheese and fruit for dinner or a light salad.

We walked over and met a couple of the neighbors - all very nice people. Did not get down to the farm at the end of our road. It's so peaceful there - each evening deer would come through the yard, as well as a flock of wild turkeys and there is a big bunny that lives in the yard. We put out a hummingbird feeder and within 2 hours we had hummingbirds. We sat out on the porch in the evening and listened to the sounds of the birds, the wind in the trees and crickets. No honking horns, no airplanes, no long train whistles or people yelling at one another. The stars at night are just gorgeous - we can easily see the Milky Way and lots of shooting stars and satellites at night. DH wanted to see a bear and might have seen one on his ATV ride but he wasn't sure. We went to the local casino one day for just a short visit (my cousin's wife and I are the gamblers so next time we will leave the boys at home - DH played a dollar poker machine and hit a royal flush - $4,000 Needless to say we bought dinner that night He gave me part of the winnings for my up north "toy" fund, will set aside some for taxes to be paid, use a bit for things we need at the new house and I think he has enough left over for that new rifle he's been eyeing. We have indeed been blessed this year.

The first couple of days were tiring between the long ride and unloading boxes and finding places to store the stuff. Lots of stairs in that house! We did get 2 days out of the 10 to relax and rest. Poor DH - once he stopped moving all the energy just drained out of him. He was working really hard these last few weeks.

The bad things about the house are flies - lots of them for some reason - killer mosquitoes which even with bug spray make it almost impossible to sit out in the evening after the sun sets though I did not think of sitting in the gazebo - duh - and TICKS. DH mowed most of the property and I was very very careful where I walked but Wednesday night I noticed my first tick on my calf. I tried not to freak out but the idea of something buring it's head in my body does not make me happy! DH got it off me. Forget about wearing crocs and capri's out that way even though I had long pants and regular shoes on when I got the tick (probably when we walked across the back yard over to the neighbors). I think from now on it's jeans with flea and tick collars binding the ankles

For some reason I took a beating on this trip. DH accidently closed the hatch to the SUV on my head when I decided to duck under the hatch and drop something into a bag without telling him I was doing so. Then I kicked into the tow hitch on the car and banged my shin. The day before we left I was eating a soft pretzel and a big filling broke in my tooth losing 1/3 of the tooth. I was very lucky I was able to get into the dentist. Cost me 2 hours of time I couldn't afford to lose and $450 bucks out of my pocket for a temporary crown. Lately every dental procedure is an expensive crown. Later that night as DH and I were packing the trailer, we were pulling hard on a bungie cord to secure the boxes in place and the dahm thing snapped right on my arm full force. I guess I was lucky it didn't snap in my face or break my arm. I have a big lump on my arm and half my forearm is bruised but at least nothing is broken. Then mix in a few aches from climbing about 2,000 stairs carrying boxes back and forth. We got in about 8pm last night and didn't have much of anything in the house to eat. Dinner was popcorn and a Coke. As I was chewing, I felt a sharp piece on my tooth - broke another darn tooth!!!!! I have a pretty bad overbite and I guess I bite hard - the dental tech last week suggested I get a night guard because she said I am hitting the teeth awfully hard - harder than even crowns were meant to take and I'd start to break all my teeth after a while - isn't that a scary thought?

Today I have laundry and grocery shopping to get done. I'm glad DH insisted we leave on Friday so we could have today to ease back into things, I went to bed early last night and woke up at 5 today. Even with the extra rest, I sure was glad I didn't have to go to work today. Now that we are back, it's time to go full force on getting this house ready to show and sell so things will only get busier. However, after spending some time up north and each driving trip getting longer and longer, we are both eager to get this house sold so I am motivated to move.

I have read through your postings and hope to at least catch the highlights here.

Shad - so sorry to hear that you are under the weather - and food poisoning on top of it all. Just thought you were exhausted from all the extra time you've been spending working. Hope you can rest up and feel better. Must follow Mel's easy on the tummy diet for a few days. Are you at least done travelling for a bit?

Mel- nice that Jen came up to see you but that's a bummer about the kids. They must be teenagers or near to it? I think there's nothing harder than dealing with someone ELSE's kids by another relationship. You can't ever seem to get quite the grip on them that you do with your own. I'm glad you are getting over your tummy troubles but as you can see, don't be over doing it. Did you enjoy the Indiana Jones festival? So sorry to hear about John - is he the one who drives the bus? I hope they get someone as competent and caring as he was - I can imagine it will be like losing a friend.

Ceejay - was passing through town and noticed for once that the cotton fields are actually green at one point! So used to seeing them ready for harvest - I can see where all those crops would give one major allergy issues. I just got my first laptop after having desktops. I was leary of the laptop - figured I'd have more storage on the desktop but I'm kind of liking the portability. Why are you thinking of going back to a desktop? All the troubles you've had? Hope you enjoy the Johnny Cash show. I find that when I'm eating too much rich food the skin tags start up - I tested my theory on DH and confirmed it.

Michelle - geez girl - seems like you are spending most of your weekends working on website work - I know it must be a catch 22 between the money is good but remember that half the summer is over and you'd better enjoy some of it before old man winter sets in - especially if DMIL is heading back in a few weeks. I'm happy to hear that you are able to add more movement to your day - I'm sure that makes you very happy - just don't over do it.

Annie - well if my vacation is over, I guess yours is too. Did you find enough to keep you busy but at least get a little R&R time in? I saw that Sissy's yard sale did well - that's a good thing - I hear they can be hit or miss. I saw your comment about giving your nails a rest - watch how much faster you can type After so long with the acrylics, it's probably a good thing that you are giving them a rest although I think it's almost impossible to have 10 good looking nails for very long when you are dealing with natural nails. I have weak thin ones myself - just like my hair

Ellen - sounds like you've had a busy summer so far. I will join you in the laundry-thon. We got to join the tourists in town at the laundromat on Wednesday - cost me almost 20 bucks to do 6 loads - I don't see how some people can afford to go to the laundromat every week rather than getting a washer an dryer of their own.

I can't seem to find the . key on my laptop. It's getting annoying I guess one of the things I definitely like on the desktop is the regular keyboard rather than typing on the laptop one.

Laura - thanks for the tip on the sodium - that's a good rule of thumb and using that it probably means eating NOTHING packaged Thats a bummer about BF's back. He needs to ice it alot and apply gentle hear periodically - hope he is feeling better by now. I'm glad you don't have hepetitus C - that would be a real bummer. Don't have any advise to offer on the BP - you do get a lot of regular exercise - guess you just have to really watch the sodium in foods - bland food here we come That's too bad that the produce store closed down in your area - there was one we'd go by near to the Pancake house that was rather crowded but had good stuff - maybe that's the one they remodelled?

Speaking of produce my cubemate gave me some stuff fresh out of her garden - a giant tomato, a cucumber, some grape tomatoes and some baby ears of corn. She gave it to me the day before we left so I brought it with me up north. Put it in the vegetable crisper in the refrigerator and was bummed to find out the crisper was too cold and the veggies all froze - one of the problems with a side by side frig and freezer Everything was mush so I lost it all.

Well I guess this is enough for catch up - been sitting here for too long and I have things to do so I'd better get busy. Enjoy your Sunday ladies.

Morning all,

Had the best nights sleep in a long time last night. Yummy. And as a result feel ready to go demolish the list of to do's for Monday. Only 4 days left of this job, and I won't get the lot done, but I will get much of it out of the way. No more travelling, just office stuff and queries now.

DS2 is on the road to recovery as well. The bacon I put in our pasta had been in the fridge and was the 'homebrand' variety. I don't know if you have generic packaging overthere in supermarkets - can't remember seeing it while shopping with Happy, however this was some of that. Now I might be a bit snobby, but I never buy 'generic' brand anything because I can't tell where it comes from. I like to see labels on my food with country of origin, food values, and addresses to which I can complain. I'm convinced that much of the generic brands are offcuts from less than good hygiene practices and also a bit of a rip off because they contain more water (or salt) than food. Still DS2 thinks they are okay and buys them. He probably should have stored it differently, but I am almost certain that the bacon is what did us in!

Anyway - good to hear that the chicks are coming along - Annie had a good garage sale, Michelle's back is getting better, Mels gut is getting better (most of the time), Happy is home, battered, bruised and nearly toothless but home. Ellen is out on a date, ceejay is playing interior decorator and Laura is exercising and taking diurectics. Laura, I have taken them for years and don't have a problem. You may find the odd bit of cramp from time to time but that usually is fixable with one of those electrolyte drinks. I love bananas but they are the price of gold at the moment so I don't buy them often. Apples and oranges also have potassium as do many fresh veg.

While I think of it, I would never go back to a desktop computer. Apart from the portability of the laptop, I can plug in a normal keyboard and monitor and have the best of both worlds at home and contact with the world while I am away. In fact I can have two monitors showing two different things if I want. Could I have three? Probably if I have enough usb ports.

Gotta go wrap up the comsumables situation at Coppabella and then dig into the group timesheet for Red Mountain.

I will be back.

Happy
It's nice to see you posting again. The location of your new house reminds me of my uncles. There are no bears though. Glad you are home safe and sound. Wow, on the winnings. Your dh may need that rifle if the bears get to be annoying.

Shad
Glad you are feeling better also. Yep I do like to move the furniture around.

Alrighty-----you two have made me rethink my possiblity of getting another new laptop. I do like the portablity of them. I really should have gotten one when this one died. Do the ones with laptop's use a mouse or the mouse that's built in the computer?

I was glad to get home tonight to a nice cool house. The a.c. went out today at work. Our new supervisor came up to check on it. I'm hoping and praying it's only out of free on. I checked and the lines were not frozen. He said it could also be the compressor. Boy it was hot in there. It was actually cooler outside. I'll probably end up with a sore throat from sitting under two fans blowing hot air.

Ceejay - you can use either. I have an external mouse because I really hate the built in knobby thing and/ or the pad where you slide your fingers around to get the mouse to move.

I use an external keyboard as well at home - so if your keyboard is in good condition, don't throw it out with the computer. If it has one of those round plugs that go in the back of the computer, your computer shop should be able to give you a plug/ usb connector and you can then have the useability of the keyboard. Same with the monitor. Some laptops are so small that it hurts just to look at them - or if you set the properties high so you can see it, then you have to scroll across the page to see everything. So if the old monitor is okay - don't throw that either.

Do be sure to destroy the c: drive on the old computer before giving it away or chucking it. You don't need your information sent around the world by someone else accessing your mail or information.

E-mail me if you want some more help.

Ceejay - no a/c in this bloody heat and humidity? That's just criminal. I was soaking wet just unloading groceries from the car to the house. As for the mouse - I am a bit external mouse fan. Hate the touch pad - always have. I got a docking station with this new laptop so I can use the bigger keyboard, my nice big monitor and the external mouse with less hassle. However, I have yet to plug everything in. Right now just using the laptop wireless at the desk in my kitchen. Aside from not being able to find the period key, I'm doing just fine so far. I agree with Shad's advice about destroying the hard drive before you give / discard your old machine.

Shad - we have a similar (food contamination) problem with produce coming from countries that have less than sanitary conditions. I check labels now and wash produce much more thoroughly than I once used to. We have some frozen meat that is called No Name - is actually quite good from what I understand. How ever No Name is an actual company with an address and customer service department. You give new meaning to mystery meat Glad you got some sleep and are back to your fiesty get it done self.

I did alot today but still could use a few more hours left in the day tonight. Ah well, it will keep me on track for the rest of the week. Good thing there is nothing on TV that interests me this summer season. Now I just need to stay off the computer. And with that, I bid you all a good night. Talk to you tomorrow.

Good Monday Morning to you all...

Back at work today, blah...supposed to have hit and miss bad storms today. Kinda hope I get a bit of the rain at home, I am tired of watering the garden every night. It is not really the watering part, it is the winding up of the hose that gets me.

No time for personals really, got a bazillion email messages and my red light on my phone is lit up indicating messages....not to mention it says I had 63 missed calls. It all sounds scary. lol

Glad everyone is feeling better, sorry you got beaten up on your trip to new house Happy....I stubbed the same toe 3 times on the day of the garage sale. Feels broken, but sure it is not.

Gotta get at it. If I find a lull in the action, I may come back later...haha. Working both jobs today, what a way to jump back into the race.

Loves and Hugs,

Annie
Welcome back to the work force. Hope you had a good vacation.

Mel
I hear you on not cooking that much anymore. The more simple it is the more I like it.

The a.c. was back on this morning at work. My boss/friend also has a license in heating and cooling. He seems to think the compressor kicked out on it. I think he was more concerned about the sensitive montor's that we have instead of us female employee's. They had a company here first thing this morning cleaning the unit. I wore my pedal pusher type pants this morning I was prepared.

I'm wondering if I should be using a mouse that plugs in instead of an electronic mouse. I might try that and buy a new battery for the lap top.
It hasn't been long since I have a new hard drive in it.

Hope every one stay's cool.

Monday already??? Dang!

I had a good weekend. Woke up early on Saturday and did some website work before everyone else woke up, then we took a lovely drive to a Nature Sanctuary. On the way home, we stopped at a nursery to get some perennials for the lovely new planter ring that DH built. Early Sunday morning, it was more website work, and DH changed the oil in both cars and the riding lawn mower. Then we ran errands (DH and DMIL to the home improvement store, and me to the grocery store). There was a tremendous sale on fresh fruit...so I bought a lot and after unloading all the groceries, I washed and cut the fruit (strawberries, canteloupe and blueberries - which did not need cutting), and put them into containers in the frig...for a quick and easy fruit salad dessert or addition to my lunch.

Yesterday was SO HOT AND MUGGY! Hopefully the storms we're getting today take some of the humidity out of the air.

*************
Ceejay - The allergic reaction I had to Niaspan was actually an extreme Niacin flush to the point where I had burning itchy bumps on my face, arms and legs. That's awful that you have to work in such heat/humidity with no A/C!! I have both a laptop and a desktop computer at home. Unfortunately, my laptop isn't as powerful as the desktop...so when I need power/memory, I use the desktop...but when I need convenience and portability (and I don't feel like going upstairs where the desktop computer is) I use the laptop. Oh, and I HATE the laptop mouse (knobby thing or the finger slide pad). Ugh. Whenever I use my laptop, I ALWAYS use a regular (external) mouse. And for my work laptop, I use an external keyboard...but for my home laptop, I use the laptop keyboard. I hope you don't get sick from all the excessive heat at work.

Shad - Glad to hear you're feeling better and that you had a great night's sleep the other night. As for generics, there are some generic/store brand things that I buy...but when it comes to meat...I'll pay the extra and get quality meat from a reputable grocery store or butcher shop. I hope the final few days on the job go well. Has Mick set you up with something right away, or will you have time to relax and decompress between projects?

Ellen - I'm so glad you and DH and the kids have been enjoying your vacation!! Sounds like you had a great time!!

Mel - I'm so glad to hear you had a quiet weekend! Congrats on getting a new microwave! When I figure out the secret to getting cloned, I'll let y'all know so we can all enjoy more leisure time!

Happy - I'm glad to hear you made it back safely, despite all the bumps, bruises and broken teeth! Yikes, girlfriend! It sounds like just one thing after another for you on this trip. Congrats to DH on the $4,000 Royal Flush!!! That's fantastic! I hit a Royal Flush on a Quarter poker machine a couple years ago, and I was ecstatic about winning $325! Moving is so tiring and hard on the body. Ticks are nasty. There's an insect repellent called Permethrin that works against ticks....but you have to apply it to clothing NOT your skin. So you can apply it to shoes, but if you're wearing shorts or capris, the little buggers can still get on your legs. Glad to hear you have nice neighbors, and wonderful wildlife in your yard. With all those deer though, you'll have to plant deer-resistant plants so they don't eat down your lovely landscaping. So nice that you're enjoying the peace and quiet of the country. I hope you get your house on the market and sold soon so that you can enjoy your lovely new home full time. As for me working most of the summer away, I know...you're right. I'm trying to do most of the website work in the evenings or in the early mornings on the weekends before DMIL and DH wake up, so that we still have time to do fun stuff on the weekends.

Laura - I swear by those electrolyte drinks, especially in the summer, to keep my potassium up and my electrolytes in check...I've found that if I drink at least one a day, I don't get as many migraines (or leg cramps). Hope you had a good weekend.

Annie - We're getting lots of bad storms today too. Probably Laura and Ellen are as well. My lawn and gardens definitely need it. Good luck getting caught up on email/voicemail. Bummer on the stubbed toe. Did you and Sissy sell a lot of stuff?

Lots of love and hugs,

Ceejay - You snuck in! I'm glad the A/C is back on at work. Good for you for dressing prepared for the heat. As for plug in mouse versus wireless...I prefer plug in. But that just comes down to personal preference. If your laptop seems to run fast enough (when it's plugged in) and you're otherwise happy with it...except that the battery doesn't hold a charge, then maybe a new battery will suffice for now.

Morning all - barely!

Mel – Glad you had a nice quiet weekend. Nice that Jen got to slip away for a bit of a break from the kids – not an easy job being around them at that age, as well as the circumstances of their upbringing. Yay for the new microwave! Ours is relatively new and I wish we’d known how loud the !@#$ beep was before we bought it! Hope yours is perfect in every way!!

Michelle – Sorry you had to spend most of the weekend working on the sites. Hope you can squeeze some quality time into your schedule to spend with your MIL before she goes back to CA. Yum re the fresh fruit – it’s always nice to have it all prepped and ready to enjoy. I think my water pill rx is a low dose, so hopefully my current diet and multivite will be good enough to stave off any muscle cramps.

Ceejay – I can see how the battery thing would make you go negative on the laptop, but I still can’t see going back to a desktop after having had the freedom of the laptop. Even if you did have to plug it in everywhere you went around the house… Also agree w/ the gang re connecting external mouse and keyboard to it. At work I have a laptop and it’s connected to a docking station with external mouse, keyboard and monitor. At home I always use an ext. mouse. Sorry the b12 shot gave you a belly ache. Have to ask your doc how to prevent that when you get the next one. Glad the AC is back on, even if it’s more for the benefit of the control room equipment than the employees!

Shad – Sorry you’ve been sick, but glad you’re feeling better and ready to tackle the to-do list. Yes, we have store brands here and I generally thought they were mostly the same quality as the name brands, for the basics at least – i.e., frozen veggies, dry pasta, etc. Other stuff, I taste the difference. I’ve learned, for instance, after two or three failures to not try anymore store brand equivalents of Post Grape Nuts cereal – they just don’t taste the same! As for bacon – I eat it infrequently, and now that I’m scrutinizing sodium levels, it’ll be rarely!

Happy – Sounds like you had quite the trip to the Northwoods. I’m thrilled that you get to enjoy real quiet and lovely night skies! The bugs – not so much, LOL. Glad you made it there and back safe and sound. Congrats to DH for his big win – are you really going to leave him at home the next time you go to the casino, LOL?? Sorry about the beating your body took - bumps, aches, tick bite! And especially your teeth! I definitely recommend getting a nightguard if they are at risk like that. Not that insurance covers the cost of one – how does it make sense that the insurance company won’t cover it, but will ultimately have to pay even more for repairs to the damaged teeth?? Yes, the produce store by the pancake house on Golf is Valli, and that's the one that was remodeled.

Ellen – How was date night? Sounds like you had a nice week.

Annie – Ugh, first day back after vacay is a tough day – especially you working both jobs! OMG, 63 missed calls – I can only imagine how long it’ll take you to catch up if you even got half that number of phone messages, not to mention all the e-mails…good luck with that girlfriend. Ouch to the thrice stubbed toe! I stubbed mine last week when I got up during the night to adjust the ceiling fan (remote was on bf’s side of the bed and he was sleeping on the recliner). Not bruised, but still tender to the touch.

All caught up w/ personals. Quick update re me: Saturday I went to Zumba class, then later in the day I washed all the windows in the 3-season room (12 of them), inside and out. AND I removed & hosed off the screens and reinstalled them. Then walked doggy. Also some laundry.

Sunday/yesterday I went shopping and didn’t buy much – 4 tops, but no shoes. I’ve decided to try the Brooks brand of athletic shoes, since I’ve heard good things about them. As for dress casual work shoes – I found nothing. All the shoes in those stores that sell “comfortable” shoes are not very attractive at all. And they’re expensive as ****. For work, since I don’t do a lot of standing or walking, I’m going to compromise and see what I can find at the usual shoe stores – DSW, etc.

I got my usual train this morning, with dark skies looming. Shortly after we left the station, the train had to stop because of the weather. For a few minutes, the wind was really making itself felt – the train was swaying a bit. Then it started pouring. I hope we got a nice amount of rain at home – the grass was really getting dry and starting to brown out. We arrived about an hour late, but at least I didn’t have to walk to the office in the rain.

Straight up noon!! TTFN!

Laura - Good for you for getting to Zumba class! Are you enjoying it? And washing all those windows? Want to come to my house and do mine, please? Bummer that you couldn't find dress casual work shoes that you liked. Scary about the train swaying in the wind, but I'm glad you didn't have to walk to the office in the rain.

Morning all,

Quick one seeing as I am on floorwalking duties this morning. I tell ya, do not wear a red shirt around this place or you WILL be accosted and taken to an office to figure out the problems of the person and the system. And there is plenty of them.
Yesterday I went over the road to number 5 and got waylaid for around an hour sorting out timesheets for people. They are all worried that they won't get paid. Not true since they will get their basic pay but may not get allowances or extra hours - not that many of them over there get overtime - they are all on salary.

I'll be back with personals later. Only 3 more days to go.

Good Giggly Wiggly....worked in the cooler all night replacing tags and signs, liked to froze to death. Then went out to come home and it was still about 90 millions degrees and who knows what the heat index was...yikes. It would be a perfect nite for skinny dipping. Reminds me of my home when I was married and had a built in pool. I would go out about 10 pm, naked and swim for about 45 minutes...so refreshing. (Of course, we lived on two acres, in the country, nuttin' but hoot owls and foxes).

Shaddie...just hang on, a few more days and you are done with that crap. Isn't it nice to be wanted...haha

Laura...wow, come do my windows. I hate doing windows..as much as I love cleaning and doing...I don't do windows as often as needed. LIKE NEVER!!

Chelle....well, we didn't get one storm here in my area. I should be out watering my garden instead of posting, but that is too much work at 10:30 at night. The fruit sounds delish....swing on by for a visit and bring some fruit with you.

Happy...wow, dh won 4K. EXCITING...I woulda peed my pants...then used the $$ to go on a trip or something. Lucky duck.

Ellen...glad you are enjoying your time off.

Ceejay....I work off a laptop at work, but use a regular keyboard and mouse, keys are just too small for this fat fingered person to use the laptop keyboard. Sounds like you are getting great use out of your new recliner. Gotta love it.

MELLIE MELLIE....hope you are taking it easy, so I don't have to come by and wop you. Nice that Jen snuck in to visit with you....I had two step-kids when I was married to the pr*ck. Neither one were worth the effort I put into them....oh well..live and learn.

I think Hella B got spoiled last week when I was home with her...she won't leave me alone....and she is a loner. She wants all my attention and for me to hold her...now that is rare. She NEVER wants to be held or coddled. She is such a b*tch. lol.

Humana work is a bit crazy these days, but understandable since I have been out for a week. October 3-7 I am taking the classes to prepare for my insurance licensing test. I haven't been to "school" in 30 years. This should be interesting. I am more concerned with passing the test....I know it is hard and most do not pass it on the first go. I sure hope I do....how embarrassing if I don't. Oh well.

I need to hit the hay. Sweet dreams/good day to youse.

Love and hugs.
