Morning all,
Just got back from putting the DS2 on the plane to visit his brother. He is hoping that the two of them will be able to have some time together on their own. It is a difficult situation and I know just how he feels. They usually have a lot of fun together but it doesn't always suit the other half!!!

Ceejay - yep, there were a lot of fireworks going on. Sydney always puts on a big display. I'm getting a bit so-so about them. That's a lot of money to spend on a 20 minute display when there are so many more worthwhile causes to spend our money on. Still life would be a bit mundane without the occasional pleasures I suppose.

Mel - my fitness idea is to use what I have and only go to the gym for strength and weights. I want to reduce dependence on the gym and rein in the budget somewhat. If I want to travel this year, then I will have to work harder than I have been doing, and save money where I can. So what I am thinking is:
Two days on the walking circuit with a bit of jogging thrown in
Two days on the Wii Fit doing at least 45 minutes a time
Two days at the gym on the weight machines.
And on the 7th day, she rests from her great labours.

Joey is doing just fine. Has a couple of new buds on him as do most of the other roses. Sometimes I think they are indestructible.

Michelle - hope the pain decreases and/ or goes away asap. Must be big needles to produce such pain. Anyway, take it easy and ease back into the swing of things slowly. Sorry I missed you on Facebook yesterday.

Happy - you did better than me. I didn't make midnight. How sad is that?? But at least you enjoyed the wine. I am slowly sipping on a Montana Sav. Blanc and it is beautifully fruity and zesty. So it should be for the price of the bottle.

Laura - happy new year to you too. How did your 'do' go? Did the friend come and enjoy herself?

Annie - Hope you managed to get some sleep before fronting up at the 2nd job today.

Okay - so now I am on my own here for a week or so. Better make the most of it and get some work done. Time to get cracking

See ya

Good afternoon people and a very to you. Yesterday and today are just running away from me. There is some time for relaxing but my head is swirling with all sorts of things I want to get done before the weekend is over. I am in the mood to start the new year on the right foot - beginning with focusing on all those little things (like taking vitamins and warm compresses for the dry eyes) that I should have been doing all along. My scatterbrain is fighting me all the way. And I should put some time in tomorrow on work because I didn't get much done on Thursday. But if I keep my resolve to get into the office earlier then I won't have to work tomorrow

Shad - I have seen some news articles and pictures of the terrible flooding out your way. It is heartbreaking. Such destruction that water can bring. And everything that gets soaked much gets ruined. Don't know how they can salvage some of the crops. Not good for people, not good for the economy. My heart goes out to those who are suffering. Hope the 2 DS can meet and spend some quality time together. I take it that he is off to NZ or are they both in Aus now? Sounds like you have a good exercise plan. Get some resistance bands and you can probably give up the weights at the gym. In fact for what you are spending at the gym you could probably buy yourself some dumbells.

Laura - glad your friend was able to make it over. Sounds like you had a nice little gathering - and little as to not too many people. How nice to have Sunday to yourself. You can cheer the Bears to victory Hey I figure what's the fun in having a long weekend unless you can hoard some of that time to yourself. So enjoy!

Ceejay - I saw the guitar drop in Nashville. It was a little cheesy perhaps had some technical problems due to the rain but it so SO NICE to actually see something live in our time zone so for that I'm grateful. You're right - you have to experiment with the grill. I burned the fish I did. It seems to work with burgers the best.

Mel you dirty lady. Had a good laugh at your squeeze balls Give us a rundown on that one, will you? I'm glad you got to stay up, even if you were busy cleaning. Was Jen and Ritchie with you?

I think the other ladies are sleeping in today. :ssh: Let's not wake them

My plans for a better year ahead are to:

Keep a reminder of the little things I should be doing for my betterment to include things like taking my vitamins, warm compresses on the eyes, a committment to clean up and keep clean one drawer, hot spot or shelf at least once a week each week throughout the year.

I need to save more money so I am reviewing what I spend and looking for less expensive ways to get the things I need and cutting down the discretionary spending. I already told the cafeteria manager that come January she'd be seeing less of me as lunches are one of the easiest ways to control my spending. I feel bad because they are struggling to stay open as it is. We lost alot of people in our building and she is caught in the old catch 22 - the less income she gets, the more they cut back and they more they cut back on options, the more people tend to stay away. It would be a shame to lose them completely but I wouldn't be surprised if they were not profitable enough and forced to close.

On the food front I am giving Weight Watchers one last try. I spend money each month for the online services which I have used sporatically so I made a committement in saving money that I'm either going to use it or give it up. I do admit right now it's a pain because I have to recalculate most of my food and recipes to work with the new points system. But since I consider counting calories far more tedious, we'll give this a go.

I need to get serious on the exercise too. DH said I could use the treadmill upstairs, just please don't trot on it - it is a gym quality treadmill and weighs something like 700 pounds - he was a bit concerned with the floor squeeking when I was trying to ramp up my workout with bits of actual running. Don't want to go crashing into the kitchen I've got some new gentle yoga tapes I've been wanting to try and will also use the exercise bands twice a week for resistance training. I think that will round out the program.

Now that I've published them, I have to stick to them, right? With that, I'm going to go look up additional WW foods for my weekly menu. Have a good evening folks.

Quick post...glad you all have rung in the new year okay.

Injection site is still sore today. So I mostly took it easy. I did get the ornaments off the tree, and did a couple loads of laundry. The injection site is sore from the needle and also the heat being transmitted from the electrode. I am having a bit less pain from walking and bending...though I'm not overdoing either. I'm also having to use my cane left, which is very nice.

I'll write more tomorrow.

Love and hugs my Worldly sisters,

GOOD MORNING CHICKS
I HAVE BEEN VERY LAZY THIS WEEKEND. SLEEPING IN AND NOT DOING MUCH OF ANYTHING. I THINK THE MOST I GOT DONE WAS THE TIDY JOB I DID NEW YEARS EVE. AND I MIGHT JUST DO NOTHING AGAIN TODAY!!
THE KIDS MIGHT BE GOING TO FLORIDA. DAD IS NOT FEELING WELL AND WANTS HIS 2 SONS THERE. I THINK IT'S MORE DRAMA THAN ANYTHING. HE SOUNDED STRONG ON THE PHONE. TODAY IT'S GOING TO BE 47 DEGREES...I SHOULD OPEN A WINDOW LATER AND DUST....WOULD BE THE SMART THING TO DO. BUT MY BODY IS SAYING....>
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY/MONDAY

CEEJAY....I WONDER IF THE WEBSITE HAS ANY INFO. YOU WOULD THINK A COOKBOOK OF SOME KIND WOULD HAVE COME WITH IT I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THE PARADE!

LAURA....I AM HAPPY TO HEAR YOU AND THE FRIEND HAD A GOOD TIME. SMALL GATHERINGS ARE THE BEST ( I THINK...LOL) THE DOGGIE IS ALL SET WITH HIS POOPY-FREE YARD FOR 2011!! HOPE YOU'RE GETTING YOUR LAZY SUNDAY WITH THE PAPER

SHAD....SO JOEY MADE IT. HOPE HE IS INDESTRUCTIBLE...I THINK I MIGHT BE!! I DO HOPE THE TWO BOYS GET A CHANCE TO BE OFF ON THEIR OWN DOING "MANLY" THINGS...WHATEVER THAT MAY BE. IT WOULD BE A SHAME IF THEY HAD TO BE WITH MISS PRISS THE ENTIRE TIME.
LIKE YOUR NEW GOALS AND WILL JOIN YOU IN THIS. I HAVE REALLY LET THE UPPER EXERCISES GO TO THE WAYSIDE
I JUST EDITED THIS:MY SCHEDULE:
MON-FRI: PEDALS &MODIFIED EXERCISES(20 mins)
SAT & SUN: BALLS & GENTLE STRETCHING(20 MINS)
THIS IS THE DR'S SCHEDULE I HAD A FEW YEARS AGO. GOING TO GO EASY THIS WEEK TILL I GET LIMBERED UP. DON'T WANT TO END UP EVEN MORE CRIPPLED!
HOPE YOU will save lots of BUCKS UP AT THE
SHAD-Y MEL GYM!! $$$$$

HAPPY....LOVE YOUR GOALS TOO. GOOD LUCK WITH THE WW SITE. I ALWAYS "FORGET" THE HOT COMPRESSES...THE DR GAVE ME SOME DROPS THEY GET "SAMPLES" OF BUT TOLD ME TO GO OUT AND BUY THERA TEARS. I COULDN'T FIND THEM SO I ORDERED THEM ON DRUGSTORE.COM AND I HAVE TO SAY THEY WORK THE BEST AND FEEL LIKE REAL TEARS. NOT THE GLOPPY MESS SOME OF THE OTHERS ARE. THEY LAST ALL DAY FOR ME NOW. I CAN ACTUALLY SLEEP GOOD AT NIGHT WITHOUT THE DRY EYE FEELING. HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORK TODAY!

MICHELLE....JUST STICK WITH RESTING AND WHATEVER ELSE THEY SAID. BETTER TO LOSE TIME NOW AND GAIN LESS PAIN LATER. KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED

ANNIE.... SENDING A GOOD THOUGHT YOUR WAY.

Howdy kids,

This weekend is going by quickly too. I had a nice chat with my sister yesterday - 4 and a half hours! Guess that made up for the Christmas visit we didn't get to have.

I am debating about going out to the store today and getting with the food program right off the start or adhering to the spend less money committment and using up what I have in the refrigerator - less diet friendly but I do have enough to get us mostly through the week. I really hate to even leave the house on the weekends now. It disrupts my flow

It cooled off considerablely but this morning it was sunny and all the birds were outside singing. Like spring is here but even in the short southern winter, we still have another month of "winter" so the birdies must be confused.

Mel - I don't like the gloppy eye drops either. Thanks for the suggestion - will have to try that.

Too easy to waste the better part of the day on the computer so I'd better get away from the desk and doing something more productive. Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday. Later chicks

Good afternoon ladies -

I'm on my second movie of the day...first one was "Gone in 60 seconds", now "Life or Something Like it". I folded a couple loads of laundry...rested...backed a batch of cookies...and am now resting. Later today, DH and I will be watching the Packer game.

Mel - Too funny to choose 9 pm to start decluttering! That sounds very Fly Lady to me! Glad you got to enjoy the benefit of waking up to clean rooms. You are naughty...but inventive...getting squeeze ball exercise using the maintenance men's equipment! I'm so very glad you had a lazy, relaxing weekend. Sorry to hear about the dad...I hope he keeps the drama to a minimum.

Shad - I like your idea of determining realistic fitness goals. I'm really impressed by your workout schedule. I want to work up to something similar. I'll be starting off slowly...and really, really listen to my body. I hope DS1 and DS2 get some time together, and I hope that the gf doesn't get in the way of their good times.

Ceejay - How cool that they drop a guitar on Beale St! That's unique! Sounds like you had a nice relaxing NYE and New Year's Day.

Happy - I didn't make it to midnight on NYE either. DH had to wake me up for the countdown. You always impress me with your drive to get so much done on the weekends. I feel so lazy. I do really, really like your cleaning commitment too. If there's one thing my back pain has taught me over the last few months is that I can accomplish a lot in 15-20 minute bursts. Fly Lady style! I've been in too much pain to clean for hours at a stretch...but I can hit hot spots for 10-20 minutes once a day. I want to learn the new Weight Watchers. I really have a bit of reading to do because like you...all the points I've memorized for my favorite foods are now different. As for trotting on the treddie...when you want to burn more calories, it might be best if you increase time or to increase intensity, you can increase the incline rather than the speed. I'd hate to think of you hurting your foot trying to trot or jog on the treddie. I really like using resistance bands for strength training because you can adjust the resistance so easily. That's so great you had a lovely half-day conversation with your sister! I say use up what you have in the frig/freezer...it's less diet friendly, but it will save you $$. And then monitor your portions. You only have another month of winter?! I'm so dang jealous!! You and Laura will be rooting for the "bad guys" this afternoon. While I hope the Packers win so they can get into the playoffs.

Laura - How nice of bf to take care of the cleaning after NYE. I'm so glad your friend was with you for NYE. It was good that she wasn't alone.

Annie and Kasey - I hope you both are having a great day!

As for me, it's back to resting until the football game.

Love and hugs to all,

C'mon Happy...the Bears have nothing to gain by winning today. They've won the division, they're in the playoffs. Wouldn't it be nice if the Packers got in the playoffs too? GO PACK GO!!

No apparently not Michelle. You have to do what you have to do and as far as sport goes, losing is not an option.

Morning all,
So far, so good. I've been for a walk/jog and have now showered and should be getting ready for the day. I have my 'to achieve' list (sounds better than to do list) worked out. It's not too onerous so there should be some spare time today.

Happy - as far as I can work out, none of the crops are salvageable. However the cattle and sheep which survive will be good to go as soon as things start to return to normal. They are predicting the price of vegetables will rise around 50% and having bought some the other day, I think I tend to agree. Back to growing my own again asap. Unfortunately more flooding is predicted for the State in the near future.
Both of my men are in Aus - currently in South Australia (Adelaide)
I actually have some dumbells - 4kg ones, but I prefer the static weight machines since I can up the weights easily and also I don't have to think about how to go about doing whatever without the machine.
Maybe you need to bring the treadie downstairs to get the best out of it.

Michelle - good to hear that things are on the improve and that you managed some time on the wii fit. As long as you are not in pain while doing it and not getting winded, then go for it.

Mel - so Dad is not feeling well. Oh dear. So Dad, quit with the viagra and the hair dye and act your age. With gentle exercise and quiet living you just might get to 100 however you will be broke by then and have spent the kids inheritance (SKI) so will it be worth it?
Are you okay with the gentle stretching of the balls? And whose balls might these be anyway? Is the owner okay with gentle stretching? Oooops getting base here but inquiring minds wish to know.

Think that is about it. Better go and get out of this towel and get on with the rest of the day. It's going to be hot and steamy here - and not just because of Mel's balls.

Nope

Simply because that is the reaction we'd get from the Packer Backers. Remember 2 weeks ago when you were cheering on a team whose quarterback you despise and have no use for - Brett Favre and hoped his team would win so the Bears would not get into the playoffs? Well it's kinda like that

Mel
Glad things were quiet for a change this week end. You deserved it.

Happy
I'm still not through with house cleaning. It's been three week's since I've done anything and it's taking some time. I'm going to start with the Fly Lady routine's this week. Your goals sound good. I stopped Weight Watchers on line this week end.

Michelle
Good for you in taking things easy this week end. Are you going back to work tomorrow?

Shad
I like your fitness routine. Does your gym have an inside walking track? The one I use does have one but I'd rather use the treadmill. I really need to start back to the gym but January has a lot of people that have made resolutions.

Laura
Glad you and your friend had a good time.

Nothing exciting happened this week end. Back to work tomorrow. Guess we'll see what is in store for the New Year.

Hello Ladies,
I hope you all don't mind me dropping in. Starting my exercise program and I need support and encouragement to stay on track. I know this is the right place to find it.

Good morning all,

The last 2 long weekends were so nice and with the office rather empty that was more pleasant too. Pop that bubble, back to reality. Doesn't help that I only got 4 hours of sleep last night too.

But trudge on. At least 2 weeks from today I'll have a 3 day weekend with the Martin Luther King holiday and the week after that we are planning a little trip again - weather permitting. Something to look forward to.

And I am actually happy to be going to the dentist on Wednesday. I've had a broken crown since September which has been very very irritating. Ran out of dental benefits back in June so it's been a long wait. That's one of the first things I'd dealing with in the new year.

Gotta get my sleepy self up and out of here. Happy new year to y'all, will be back at lunch time. Hope everyone had a good holiday.
