Good morning to all,

Alot going on in my life at the moment. Busy busy.

Mel - good for you for standing up for yourself and taking the long weekend off. You finally learned not to push yourself too hard! Enjoy.

Annie - it's a good thing that you find pleasure in the simple things like cooking and gardening. You really need to get to a warmer climate so you can do it year round. Well the gardening at least How could you stand SITC - they get cheezier and more ridiculous with every movie they make - the idea of being scantily clad in a middle eastern country - gimme a break. You can see I was never a fan of the show.

Ceejay - your goals sound very reasonable. I think counting calories is one of the big success factors that goes hand in hand with journalling the food.

Shad - I hope things come around with the contractor and you find something after the first of the year. Take a little time to catch up on things around the house and don't worry about it.

Laura - the one good thing about fitness clubs is that there are so many that you and usually find at least better equipment if not a better deal if you look for it. Bally's was big on mind games telling you that your membership will go WAY up if you let it expire. But then you realize how much you threw away by not using it. I guess it's a true sign of winter coming soon when you have to put the bike away. With the time change I am now too chasing the sun trying to get home before it gets too dark and the car headlights give me problems driving.

Lots of trains going by this morning. They are really blaring the horns today for some reason.

Michelle - glad the inversion machine got put together with all the right parts and no leftovers Hope it helps that poor back of yours heal up. Sounds though like you have quite a bit of herniation on those poor discs. Feel better!

Hi to LindsB and Zoochick.

Time to get a move on here. Talk to you later.

Happy Tuesday everyone -

I mowed the lawn in the dark last night using the riding mower. It is now getting dark here between 4:30 and 5 pm. Hopefully today's training class will get done earlier than yesterday's. Last night, I got on the inversion machine shortly before bed, and it was the first night in a long time when I didn't have to take pain meds! I did end up using my TENS device nearly all day during the training class because the chairs in the training room are not comfortable for my back.

Annie - I haven't been grounded in over 30 years! You're so sweet, sista. But if I wait to exercise until my back is 95% healed...that may be a looooong wait. I understand what you're saying though. That I'm probably doing too much too soon. Glad the birthday party went well and that your dad had a good time. Hopefully the stalker will take the hint and leave you alone. Snow? You had Snow? OMG! We had sleet the other day...but at least it's warm now. Sheesh, all that vacuuming, mopping, etc. at CVS! That's quite the workout! Funny that you say I'm hanging around like a bat. DH says that between my eyesight and now hanging upside down, I must be part bat. And then last night, when DH went down to the basement to get something...he noticed a bat flying around. He tried several times to catch it in a fishing net, but couldn't. Now we're just trying to keep it in the basement until we can catch it. I'm not afraid of bats when I and they are outside, but when it's inside my house...it's a very unsettling feeling. Please don't be saying that "W" word....it's bad enough that people (including me) are using the "S" word, and also the "C" word. "W" is just way too long up here in the frozen tundra.

Mel - I will join you on your end of year challenge. I'll weigh myself tomorrow am to get a starting weight. I can't exercise much (or per Annie...not at all), but maybe if I just watch portions and foods, I can lose a pound or two by the end of the year. I'm so proud of you for not letting the office VOLUNTEER you to work on Thursday and Friday.

Kasey - I'm jealous of your 30 minutes of Tae Bo! I hope your back isn't sore anymore. I've got enough back pain for all the Worldly chicks combined. If your muscles are sore, they will retain fluids as they heal. You should see a weight loss whoosh in a day or two. Congrats on your smart use of loans and grants to keep you out of debt for undergrad!

Shad - Love the photos! I hope DS2 likes his temp job, and I hope Mick finds you something wonderful. I also hope your headache and sinus pain left quickly. A company would be foolish to blacklist you...you are so organized and hard working! And you get things straightened out. Maybe Mick can find out what the issue is.

Laura - Luckily, the workload deadlines have been pushed out due to the training. Good for you for getting in the dog walks and the Bally's visit over the weekend. Hope the doc appt went well, and the massage was wonderful!

Happy - I hope that despite all that's going on with you, you get to take some time for you. The doc says my discs haven't herniated yet...they are just bulging (just like my waistline) But the discs are pressing on nerves, which makes them very painful and is causing the sciatica I have. The hope is that by using traction at PT and the inversion machine, the decompression can suck those discs back into place. I'd like to get back to exercising (any kind of exercising) one of these days to take this weight off.

Ceejay - Good for you on your goals!!

Gotta get ready for training! Catch ya' later, chicks!

Love and hugs,

Laura
Like your avatar.

There's not much going on except trying to keep up with my goals. I've found out goals require some of my time. Rode 12/15 minutes last night on the bike.

Michelle
One thing about a riding lawn mower is that you can mow in the dark. I used to laugh at my mom when she did that.

Hello's to every one else.

Hello all!

Michelle - I'm glad the inversion machine is helping with the pain. Hopefully the training will pass by quickly. My sore muscle pain is almost gone. I figure the more I do the video the quicker my muscles will adjust.

Laura - Bally's definitely should update their gym. I always thought that they were supposed to be one of the nicer gyms. I hope you enjoyed your day off and your massage!

Annie - I wish it would snow down here more often. It snowed when I was 2 or 3 (either 1989-90), then we didn't have snow on the ground again until Christmas '04 (I must say I loved that it was on Christmas Day that year). It snowed again one day in winter of 2008, I believe. I'd be happy if we could get at least 1 snow day a year! I think it is absolutely gorgeous.

Shad - I hope you get rid of your headache and sinus pain. My sinuses have been acting up really bad since the temperature change.

Mel - You definitely deserve a long weekend!

Happy - to you too!

Morning all,
Lovely morning out there today. As soon as I finish here I will get outside and get some bits and pieces done before it gets too hot. It's been uncharacteristically cool at nights lately, but that only makes it better for sleeping.
I can see Sunday the cat out there. She is wondering how to make it across the grass without getting her feet wet. She is trying to get over to the hedge so she can sleep in the sun over there. After all, she has been awake for just about 20 minutes. Must be tiring just getting out of bed to eat. And how come, with so much rest and so much food, she doesn't put on any weight??? Always amazes me how a cat can sleep for 23hrs out of 24 and then look like they are in training for the Olympics when they hear the fridge door opening.

Kasey - snow is wonderful stuff - as long as you don't have to live in it. I fondly remember the years in NZ when we spent long winters amid the snow and ice and sometimes couldn't get to school because of it. Can't imagine doing it now. I'm all for finding a place near the sea, on a hill, with views but no snow unless I travel to get there.
Good going on those grants and study options. It is a terrible thing to start off your adult life with what is essentially a mortgage which has to be paid back - I remember having long and detailed discussions with the DS1 about HSEC (uni fees) and how I would pay for his education as long as he didn't fail any subjects through lack of study and discipline. That's a long story and suffice to say, he didn't actually believe until he failed a subject and I paid his semester fees for only 3 subjects rather than 4 and he had to find the money for the other by himself. It was a wake up period for him, however since he still speaks to me, still comes to visit, still gives me the odd hug or two, I gather he now understands what I did and why.

Mel - Well ****!!! You've discovered the word 'no', as in what part of NO do you not understand!!!! Well done. Rembrance Day here tomorrow - the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day. Lest we forget! It is not a holiday here, but most people buy the tokens that support the Old Soldiers homes and the Returned Services Leagues. I always stop to think about and thank the old ones who gave me the life I live today.
Sorry to hear that yet another tenant has passed on.

Michelle - Glad to hear that the back is feeling somewhat better from the table and the TENS machine. about mowing the lawn in the dark. L mowed my lawn on Saturday and it's almost ready to mow again. This sure is growing season!

Happy - Sounds like DH is having a good time up in WI. Hope he finds a nice place for you and that all the groundwork he is doing up there pays off.
Meantime do not skip meals and things just because he is not there to cook or to cook for. It doesn't do the weight any good, because if you are like me, you then tend to pick at things that don't do you any good at all.

Ceejay - thanks for the feel better wishes. I like your new set of goals. I am going to pinch Mel's idea and try to get a few pounds down before new year.

Laura - Isn't it amazing how much there is to catch up on with just one day off.

Annie - Songs in your head today? Nice to start the day with both a laugh and a song.

As for the blacklisting - it is only with one consulting company and unfortunately it is a big one. It started after that last job in Sydney where I had all the problems with a police check - not the check itself, doing it. Anyway Mick can't do anything about it if it exists, he works to a different drum. I am not all that worried about it. Sad to say, I didn't actually want the job anyway. It was just the way that the recruiter seemed so surprised that they wouldn't even look at my cv. Then I found out who the company was.
No body will ever admit to blacklisting anyway because of the risk of litigation and it will only ever be among that particular company because of the legal aspect. I'm really not that worried about not working until after (insert C word here yourself - I am not ready for it). There are plenty of things I can do around here.

Okay - time to go and do something out there in this glorious day I have been given. See you later

Happy Wednesday -

Two days of training done, two more to go. My brain feels full...which probably means I'm going to have to forget some other stuff so this new stuff will fit. And I've got some reading to finish for tonight's class. I did a couple loads of laundry last night, but asked DH to bring the clean clothes up from the basement.

Ceejay - Good for you for keeping up with your goals. I don't like mowing in the dark, but at least the riding mower has headlights so I can if I need to.

Kasey - I'm so glad your muscles aren't as sore. Snow is pretty to look at, just not to shovel or drive in. And the reason we about the snow is because the winters are too dang long here. But if you want to come see snow, just come and visit me, or Laura, or Annie or Mel pretty much any time between mid to late November right through until March or April.

Shad - I cracked up at what you said about how cats can sleep all day, only waking to eat, and still look like they are in training for the Olympics. Same with my doggies. Our lawns have pretty much stopped growing...I just use the mower to mulch the leaves. And from the looks of the front yard, I'll need to do it again this weekend (hopefully not in the dark this time). I'm kind of concerned about my back because the pain is nearly as bad as it was before I got all those shots. I'm seeing the doctor next week...so hopefully he'll have some new suggestions. In the meantime, I'm hanging around at least twice a day, and using the TENS machine just to make it tolerable so I can work. It's not right that the large consulting company is blacklisting you. Glad to hear you aren't worried. I'm not ready for "C" either, or the "S" that comes with it.

Happy - I hope your DH is having fun and able to find a nice place for the two of you to retire.

Mel - Sorry to hear that you lost another tenant.

Annie - Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!!

A big to all!

Lots of love and big hugs,

WICKED WEDNESDAY...........

Got free tickets to the Wicked play at Murat Theater. Very excited about that. I am taking DD. It is on December 23rd. I traded my 2 tickets for the last Colts game of the year when they play the Titans. I still have my Cowboys tickets to take DS on December 5.

I wasn't worth a hoot at CVS last night. Couldn't even check in the correct count on the magazine shipments. First two cases had to be recounted. I finally got the third case right, why was that?? Because the third box only had 15 copies of the same magazine in it. Dur duh here.

Going to work on the front yard tonight when I get home. I need the sunshine and fresh air. Heck I may even open up the house for one last airing before w*i*n*t*e*r. Yikes, scary thought....on the bright side only 130 days till spring...

Time keeps on slippin' into the future...la la la...Steve Miller Band, do-do do-dit. I want to fly like an eagle to the sea, I want to fly like an eagle till I am free......

Saw a bumper sticker this morning...I just laugh at all of them, I will take my guns, freedom and money, you may keep the CHANGE. hahaha First, I have no guns, and no money, much less change....I know this is not what the sticker was meaning, but that is how I looked at it. lololol

Shaddie....come on over and spend some time at my place. I can think up quite the list for you to do till after the holidays. I will cook and clean and even do your laundry for you. **WINK**

Zoochickie...you are more than welcome to ALL of my snow days. If I never see another flake of snow, my feelings would not be hurt. Sunshine and beaches for me, sista.

Chelle...must training take up so much time? Be easy on with your back, and don't do anything stupid like EXERCISING....xoxo

Ceejay...wtg keeping your goals in check. Bravo, my friend.

Laura...hello back at cha chicklet.

OK Happy....warmer climate for commune. Arizona is pretty...waddaya think?

Hellos to everyone.......

Love and hugs

Mel - You sure are making a lot of racket down in the Laundry Room! Sheesh! I had to take one of my stronger pain meds last night...but so far today, 2 Aleve and my TENS are making the training bearable.

Annie - Congrats on getting the tickets to Wicked! It's an awesome musical! Sounds like you're gonna have a wonderful December with your DS and DD. I won't be working in the yard after work. But I may get outside for an hour or so to read. I'm trying to shove my salad down so I can read my book before heading back to training. How about we do our commune in Sedona, Arizona. It's beautiful there and not crazy hot like Phoenix or Tuscon. Actually, if money were no object, I'd suggest we have the commune in San Diego...they have the best weather in the whole dang country!

Hello everyone.

Shad – Hope you’re feeling better today. Too bad it was keeping you from your busy schedule – I know how that feels. LOL about Sunday the cat! It’s terrible you've been blacklisted! It's the word of mouth that is worrisome. I hope the good word outweighs any bad (or just plain wrong info)!!

Ceejay – Yay for the meetings being counted towards your continuing educ. Credit. Good goals – go for it!

Mel- Good for you insisting on not working to cover office shortages – you’re retired for Pete’s sake! Your health is more important!! Sorry to hear about losing a tenant - sounded like a good person. My massage and dr appt went fine. Yeh, I guess it’s funny – two very different experiences, that’s for sure!! You reminded me I have to ask IT if they can at least replace my laptop battery. Usually it sits in a docking station all day, but when I use it out of the office, an operable battery would sure be nice!

Happy – I did manage to express my displeasure to Bally’s – they made the mistake of sending me an online survey following my visit on Sunday...

Michelle – A bat in the basement – eeek!!! I could NOT handle that. I hope you’ve got that thing trapped by now. Let it be outside where it can do it’s work eating mosquitos, or whatever they do in the off-season. I should think all that sitting for training is not good for your back – I’m so glad you’ve got the TENS unit and the inversion thingy to help you reduce the pain you’re experiencing.

Kasey – Yeh, I agree – I also thought Bally’s was supposed to be one of the nicer fitness chains. Sigh. Glad your soreness has eased up.

Annie – You’re in a very musical mood the past couple days, LOL. I agree, Arizona sounds like an excellent place to spend the winter!! Sorry CVS wasn’t so great for you yesterday.

Well, I’m posting from home today. So I think I told you I left my bike at the train Friday night because bf picked me up (it was dark). Then of course like a dufus I totally forgot to get the bike over my long weekend, and then bf dropped me off at the train yesterday morning because I had a lot to carry. So last night I decide to just ride the bike home and be done with it. I cut down a very dark half-block of street to get to a well-lit one where I could ride safely on the sidewalk. It was so dark on that short stretch, I decided to get off the street and onto the sidewalk before a car failed to see me. Except what I thought was the driveway was NOT - I unexpectedly jumped a curb and ended up on grass, where the bike pretty much slowed to a stop. So I get off the seat and for some bizarre reason, I used my “problem” left foot to push off again – OUCH! Crap, it really really hurt in the exact same part of my foot that’s bugging me. Aaargh! You know I’ve been berating myself for not letting the FN bike just sit at the train station until bf or I could have gotten it home during daylight hours! I’ve iced it last night and this morning, but I can’t put much weight on it without a lot of pain – no way I could get around the office. So I stayed home today and am trying to see/get advice from one of my docs to see what I need to do to rule out the possibility of having torn or ruptured something in my foot. I’m thinking MRI if they can't rule it out by looking at it... I’ve told the nurse my story and am waiting for a callback from the doc.

Nothing planned except sitting around. Been checking work e-mails through webmail and that’s about it.

I’ll post this and do another icing session. Have a good day everyone!

PS - I think I caught bf's cold too. Boo. Hoo.

Laura - I'm so sorry to hear about your foot. That sounds like a heck of a nasty bike accident, especially when you have a bum foot to begin with. And you have a cold also?! That sucks. Feel better soon, my friend.

Sedona, San Diego...Chelle..either place works for me....this weather sucks, altho it is beautiful outside. I went out at lunch to do errands and had one heck of a time coming back in. We could do San Diego...I mean what is money...while we dream, we might as well dream big....I just figured out what that commotion was going on downstairs and like you, I found it was Mellie beatin' and bangin' on things....

Laura...the foot and a cold. Geez girl. Ok you AND Chelle are grounded. Don't think it is going to be fun either cause you will be in separate rooms in your time out chairs. All ya'll rest quietly, relax and read a book or something. I will be outside enjoy the fresh air. ;^)
