Hello Everyone! Well, we are back at home safe ad sound! We got home Tuesday night. It has been kind of hectic around here trying to get the stuff unloaded from the 5th wheel and catching up laundry! I still need to get out and do some cleaning and shampoo the carpets in the 5th wheel and get it advertised again.
Tim found out that he can breathe so much easier back in MO. that we ended up looking at lots of houses while we were there and have decided to put our home up for sale and move back there. He was saying that if we stay out here he will probably have to go on oxygen full time within a year so guess we will be moving when the house sells. Which is fine with me--- all my family is back there!
Angie, glad your Mom came through the surgery fine. Remember we will keep you and your family in our thought and prayers.
4thebigday, Welcome I think that you will find us to be a pretty good group!! Hope you come back and visit us often.
Noelle, it sounds like you have been keeping pretty busy. How is that new kitty? That was sure a cute picture.
Cal-- you must have already left for your cruise--- hope you have a wonderful tme!
Dips, Kempy, Virgo, cw and anybody else I missed a great big HELLO to you and hope you are having a good day.
Here are a couple pictures --- Ginger likes to POP up and watch what is going on once in awhile while we are traveling and she hates "red semi trucks" She just goes crazy and barks if any of them are by us or pass us!! Sissy just takes it easy and curls up in her carseat until we stop. Then she is ready to get out, take care of business and get back in to her naps!! The other picture is of my Dad with my sister's Chihuahua! Since my Dad has been over there since October of last year she has really decided to just make his lap her own!! My sister wanted to name her a Mexican name but could only think of Tequila so named her Tequie!! (Teekee) She is pretty cute but is getting up there in age --- I think she has like 4 teeth left. But still does good.
Well, I put on 4 pounds while I was on vacation but I'm happy it wasn't more!! I think I'm going to give the South Beach diet a try and see if I can't get some of that off real fast! I also need to get my WATP's dvd's out and start walking again.
Well, guess I'd better get busy. I need to give Ginger and Sissy baths and we are supposed to have thunderstorms this afternoon. Best get that done now or Ginger will be under the bed!!
Take care everyone. Karen

Hello ladies, how are you all doing? I slaved all day yesterday with cleaning, shopping and cooking for Father's Day and Rick was out ALL DAY on his boat . At least I got to see my dad enjoy my efforts. I made beef and veggie shish kabobs (what kind of word is that anyway???) and then I made Japanese style fried chicken. My sister brought over some king crab legs and another made some salmon and watercress soup. Rick left the house at 7:00 a.m. and never made it back until 8:00 pm--I told him he owed Michael big time for missing Father's Day! I found a shirt for my dad on ebay that said "Santos" (it was a Spanish Christian shirt) and another shirt for Rick that said "Grab your balls, we're going bowling!" I have to go and pick up a gift card that I bought for Rick for dad's day but didn't pick up yet, it's for a 90 minute massage therapy session at a new salon that opened up.
Karen, love your pics and your tales of the road. Glad you made it home safely. I imagine the cost of living in MO will be less than CO. That is great that you can be nearer to family all the way around. Hope you find a nice place out there for yours and Tim's sake.
Angie, glad to hear about mom, I'm keeping her in my prayers. And Happy birthday to Jay --did he catch me up yet? Girl, you know, even if you're not on a "diet" per se, we still like to hear from you. If it makes you feel any better, I'm not doing WW at the moment. I used up my 13 week coupons that my insurance company offers at a reduced rate and then I petered out.... but that's pretty much par for the course for me too eh? I know once I look at pictures of myself I will probably get the mojo back.
4thebigday, Hi! Nice to see you around.
Gotta get back to work. Hope more of you can stop in. I miss you guys.

Hello Ladies,
I just got this in an email and I thought it was to neat not to share!! Be back later...... Karen
This is just fun!
THE LAND OF SANDRA DEE
Long ago and far away,
In a land that time forgot,
Before the days of Dylan
Or the dawn of Camelot.
There lived a race of innocents,
And they were you and me,
Long ago and far away
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
Oh, there was truth and goodness
In that land where we were born,
Where navels were for oranges,
And Peyton Place was porn.
For Ike was in the White House,
And Hoss was on TV,
And God was in his heaven
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
We longed for love and romance,
And waited for the prince,
And Eddie Fisher married Liz,
And no one's seen him since.
We danced to "Little Darlin'",
And sang to "Stagger Lee"
And cried for Buddy Holly
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
Only girls wore earrings then,
And three was one too many,
And only boys wore flat-top cuts,
Except for Jean McKinney.
And only in our wildest dreams
Did we expect to see
A boy named George with Lipstick
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
We fell for Frankie Avalon,
Annette was oh, so nice,
And when they made a movie,
They never made it twice.
We didn't have a Star Trek Five,
Or Psycho Two and Three,
Or Rocky-Rambo Twenty
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
Miss Kitty had a heart of gold,
And Chester had a limp,
And Reagan was a Democrat
Whose co-star was a chimp.
We had a Mr. Wizard,
But not a Mr T,
And Oprah couldn't talk yet
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
We had our share of heroes,
We never thought they'd go,
At least not Bobby Darin,
Or Marilyn Monroe.
For youth was still eternal,
And life was yet to be,
And Elvis was forever,
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
We'd never heard of microwaves,
Or telephones in cars,
And babies might be bottle-fed,
But they were not grown in jars.
And pumping iron got wrinkles out,
And "gay" meant fancy-free,
And dorms were never coed
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
We hadn't seen enough of jets
To talk about the lag,
And microchips were what was left
At the bottom of the bag.
And Hardware was a box of nails,
And bytes came from a flea,
And rocket ships were fiction
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
Buicks came with portholes,
And side shows came with freaks,
And bathing suits came big enough
To cover both your cheeks.
And Coke came just in bottles,
And skirts came to the knee,
And Castro came to power
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
We had no Crest with fluoride,
We had no Hill Street Blues,
We all wore superstructure bras
Designed by Howard Hughes.
We had no patterned pantyhose
Or Lipton herbal tea
Or prime-time ads for condoms
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
And middle-aged was thirty-five
And old was forty-three,
And ancient were our parents
In the Land of Sandra Dee.
But all things have a season,
Or so we've heard them say,
And now instead of Maybelline
We swear by Retin-A.
And they send us invitations
To join AARP,
We've come a long way, baby,
>From the Land of Sandra Dee.
So now we face a brave new world
In slightly larger jeans,
And wonder why they're using
Smaller print in magazines.
And we tell our children's children
Of the way it used to be,
Long ago and far away
In the Land of Sandra Dee.

Hi, ladies! Last time I looked in was a week ago (6-14) & like me, apparently, everyone else is busy, too. My reunion is this Saturday (6-23), & we're all going crazy getting last minute details taken care of. Today I got myself 3 outfits for the price of one! Tomorrow I get my hair done, then Saturday's the "all-day sucker"!
Anyway, just thought I'd check in & say hello. Karen, hope your travels were safe, good, and just plain fun! Kempy, keep listening to that Cajun music! Dips, hope your finals & term papers are over for now (if not, that they will be soon)--and that you did well! Mele, thanks for being such a grand cheerleader, & hope you & Michael are enjoying more time together! Calnative, hope your walking is still going strong & that you get the teaching job you want! cw and angie, hope that things are going better, in all ways.
Enjoy your summer - keep exercising & eating right!
Love,
--Virgo
P.S.--Boy, that was funny. One reason I hadn't been posting (or feeling too guilty about not posting more) was that I did not have any posts after 6-1. That's why my messages above were so sketchy, since I only had the very first two posts for this thread to read. Without any other ones, I just assumed everyone else had been occupied, too. Now I can catch up more, since once I posted this, all of a sudden every post after 6-1 appeared. As my mother used to say, "Very mysterious"...

Good Morning,
Well, this morning I am pretty happy--- the scales are down 5 pounds this week! I was hoping that by being on the South Beach for awhile would help me lose the 4 pounds that I gained on vacation and I guess it did! I dont' know how long I will stay with South Beach since it's kind of expensive to buy all the stuff you need but I want to keep it up for at least another week. That would make a full 2 weeks which is the Phase 1 plan. Then I'll probably switch back to the way I was doing before.
Still haven't got back into any kind of formal exercise plan yet but I'm doing lots of bending, stretching and all that just cleaning and getting the house ready to show.
Our grandkids are coming tonight to spend the weekend with us while their Mom ad Dad go to Texas for the weekend. That should keep me pretty busy too. As of right now, I'm planning on getting back into my walking starting on Monday. We'll see how that goes.
How is everybody doing? Virgo-- so good to hear from you again. I was wondering where you went. How are you?
Noelle, how is that new kitty? That was such a cute pic of him/her.
Well, I need to get busy here before the day gets away from me. Helll to everyone and I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone is doing. Karen

Hello everyone,
I know it's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy. I started working a part-time job. I've really enjoyed it, and it's gotten me out of the house, which always helps. I can't say i've lost wt. since I've been working, but I haven't been gaining. I think I'm the only WW member still going that's gaining wt., instead of losing. We also got a new pomeranian from the shelter. He's really adorable, but not house trained. I can't wait until he's completely house trained, and I don't have to keep a constant watch on him when he's not in his kennel.
Karen, I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip. I loved your pics. I hope you enjoy your grandkids tonight. My grandbaby's at her other grandparents' house tonight. I miss her when I don't see her everyday. And on the wt. loss.
Virgo, I hope you have so much fun at your reunion. I've been to all of mine, except my 25th. I enjoyed them all.
Noelle, Angie, Cal, Dips, Kemp, hello. I hope all is well with you.

CW---- WOW! A new puppy!!! Got to see pictures!!! What did you name him? Can you tell I like poms??? I get so excited when someone gets a new one.
Congrats on your new job. I had thought of getting a job but right now my JOB is getting this house ready to show and sell!! If things haven't changed in a few weeks I will probably go back to Wendy's where I was a manager and see if I can come back for awhile. I don't want to get anything to permanent since we are wanting to move back to MO. But fast food is always hiring and I wouldn't feel too bad about leaving if we sell.
I still have the grandkids and they have been so good!! Jade is going to be in the 6th grade and TJ (Todd Jr.) is going into the 3rd. I was proud of myself last night--- I made them and Tim a bunch of spaghetti and I never even touched it!! I just had some fish fillets and some spinach. PAT ON THE BACK!!! Tonight it will be grilled chicken breast, salad and some veggie. I haven't figured that one out yet.
Hello to everyone and I will try to get back on later to see what is going on.
Have a good day. Karen

Just a short note to say I'm back!!! Wonderful trip; a few snags, but nothing to ruin it. We got back late Friday night and yesterday I went to Calif for my Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary party. Great to see all the family. I got back this evening, and I am bushed.
I'll post more later, and will post some pics soon.

Hi ladies, not much going on here. I had a bout w/food poisoning last week, kept me out of commission for a few days. We had had dinner at Chili's restaurant on Wednesday evening, then by mid-morning the next day at work I was absolutely ill. I had to go home and just be miserable there for a few days. Long doses of rest, diet 7up and soda crackers seemed to make me feel better. I'm still not 100% but seem to be getting my appetite back, which isn't a good thing Anyway, sorry to be so scarce around here, it's just the lazy days of summer ya know?
Rick found a stray dog running on the highway and he stopped and picked it up--no we didn't keep this one, although it was sure tempting. He looked like our chihuahua mix Selena, only smaller, probably about 4 lbs, similar markings to her, mostly white with black spots. His head was black though, and he looked more like a chihuahua maybe mini-dachsund mix. I had to bring him to the pound to see if his owner would maybe claim him there.
Cal, glad to hear you had a good trip. Will wait to see pics. My parents ARE going on an AK cruise and sooner than they expected. They are going with our church group in the fall so it should be great for them to be with people they know. How nice that you got to visit w/family at the 50th anniversary too. So how many more days of summer vacation do you have left? I know you know the exact number just kidding!
Karen, how nice you have your grandbabies with you. And I'll second that pat-on-the-back for sticking to your SB plan . I hope you find that happy medium w/a part-time job . As for my kitten, she is doing just fine. Growing really fast and is as rambunctious as kittens are. In fact, she found her way into my bedroom somehow, and then proceeded to tear a hole in one of my throw pillows and when I got back, there was little polyester stuffing balls all over my bed--such a naughty kitty.
Virgo, I hope you enjoyed your reunion, I know you put lots of time and attention into it. Any surprises about classmates you've seen?
cw, congrats on the new pup! I can't believe you found him at a shelter. Our shelter (we have one main one only) usually only has bigger dogs that are pit-mixes, any little dogs that come in go fast. So what's its name?
Hello to all, hope you all have a great day

Hi, everybody!
Hello, ladies! Good to be back for a while. July's going to be a busy month for me too, but at least the 40th reunion on 6-23 went beautifully! There were a few snafus, but everything worked out very well. I'll report on that at greater length next post. Today I'll catch up on my greetings!
4thebigday! This is a very nice group of ladies--I think you'll like us. We're open-minded, experienced, and fun; we're also good listeners. When is your big day? We'll encourage you in your quest for fitness as you get ready to walk down the aisle! WELCOME!!
dips'n'twists, don't know where you are; I presume finals & papers are over with for this term. Hope you're doing well. Keep on dancing, my dear!
calnative, Congrats on the fine Alaska cruise (how I envy you!!) and the 50th Anniversary celebration for your aunt & uncle. Thanks for missing those of us who weren't posting--we appreciated your kind words.
cwneeds2lose--Congrats on the part-time job! I've got to start working again, too. As to your being in WW but not losing: Maybe I've already bored you with this story, but the way I found out my thyroid wasn't working (2 years ago) was when I joined WW & gained instead of losing. See your doc, get that blood work done. The meds are an easy fix, & I was able to lose again. Besides, if your thyroid ISN'T producing hormone anymore, you could start losing your hair (fortunately, I caught mine in time)--do check it out, dear. It's too important an organ; your entire metabolism is regulated by that little thing. Unchecked hypothyroid also raises cholesterol to DANGEROUS levels; one of the clues my doctor saw in the test results was that my total cholesterol was 415!! My thinking was off (brain fuzzy/cloudy), I was chilled easily; I just thought "Menopause is kicking my ***!" BUT THAT WASN'T IT! Once I got my levothyroxine, everything got better. Good luck--I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted!
angieME, I've also got good thoughts and prayers going for you, your Mom & rest of family, too, for strength & guidance. I noticed you've lost almost 20 pounds--good for you! You can do it--it's just not that easy, alas. But you're working it. As I like to say: Keep on keepin' on!
kempy, how're you doing? Must be nice to have that brand new beautiful pool to enjoy! I trust you and your family are making the most of it! Hope to hear from you soon!
Karen31, glad you had such a good trip! Those are nice pictures of you, your Sis & Dad, doggies, also the praying hands. Where is Webb City, MO, exactly? Relative to where your relatives live, I mean. When you wrote that Tim was breathing more easily down there, it sounds like Missouri "is the place you oughta be", so I hope you find someplace nice there! And congrats on the 5 pound weight loss--YAY!
melekalikimaka, I sure was sorry about your round of food poisoning. What a bummer! Glad to know you're feeling better. Thanks for asking about my reunion. I'll tell you all about it the next time I post. But in order for that not to be super-long, I wanted to say my proper "Hello"s, first!
All right, ladies! Summer is here! Let's stay properly hydrated and "Slip, Slop, Slap", as the Aussies say: Slip on a long-sleeved shirt, Slop on some sunscreen, and Slap on a hat--especially those of you in the year-long sunny climes. Skin cancer is nothing to laugh about. Sorry to be the "medical pest" this post, but we Virgos are noted for our health awareness, also for our caring for others. Reminding you to take care is my way of doing both!
Love you all, will write again soon!

I'm still working on posting pics. I still haven't figured out how to post on this site, but I'll get them out somehow soon.
Our trip was absolutely wonderful. It was much cooler in Alaska this time than it was the last time we went. I think the warmest day got up to 65. Mostly it was in the 50's.
We started the trip missing our flight to Seattle. We were at the airport for 2 1/2 hours and still missed the flight because of security...they only had 4 lines open (less than half that were available). Instead of leaving Phoenix at 7:30am we left at 1:00pm. Unfortunately, we did not get to see much of Seattle because we got there so late and were tired. The next day we caught our ship without trouble and found our stateroom great!! I loved the balcony.
Halfway through the trip, Ashley got sick. She had strep and I had to take her to the ship's doctor. They don't do any kind of insurance, so I had to pay $300 for the visit and meds. OUCH!! She did have a high fever...105. You do what you must. We had traveler's insurance so we will get it back. Half way through the next day she was feeling much better. In Prince Rupert, BC, I took her off the ship only long enough to take her picture by the sign and then took her back on. The end of the trip was marred by the loss of one piece of baggage. The counter person at the airport put the wrong tag on one of our bags. He said he fixed it, but we still don't have our bag.
We had 4 ports of call...3 where we actually got off the ship.
In Juneau we went to the Mendenhall Glacier. It was cold and beautiful. Some of the icebergs in the lake were a beautiful blue. We also did some shopping in Juneau and took the tram to the top of Mt Roberts for spectacular views of the city and valley.
In Skagway we rented a car and drove into the mountains to British Columbia and the Yukon. We drove all the way to Whitehorse, Yukon; even drove a little of the Alaska Highway again. It was a great drive and nice to get away from the crowds. And of course we did some shopping, much to my husband's dismay.
In Tracy Arm Fjord we stayed on the ship, but the captain stopped the ship at one point near a large glacier so we could take pictures and enjoy the sights. There was so much ice that we couldn't get too close. Later in the summer the ships will be able to get closer to the glacier.
Prince Rupert, British Columbia was our last port. It was raining there, but we still walked around the area and enjoyed the views...especially the eagles. The bald eagles were like pigeons there; they were everywhere. It was awesome to see so many. Of course, more shopping.
We got back to Seattle on June 22 and flew home that same afternoon. I would love to go again, but next time I want to do a one-way cruise and go back up to Denali Park for a few days.
Now we are back in the heat (113 yesterday). I have 34 days until I go back to school (40 until my little hooligans come back).
Right now it's nice to kick back, relax, and prepare for our nephew to visit from Italy in 2 weeks.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to get pics out soon.

I think this might work. I'm trying to post a picture. If it works it is a picture of Ashley and Alberto on our ship before we left Seattle.
