GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Not sure when I'll be able to get in a post - times ticking away quickly it seems and tons of things to still do - life is way too hectic for my liking and it's wearing me down. BUT, here's the
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY for you all to start the week with - not too great this week, there weren't any that really blew me away like they normally do
GET IT DONE
There is something you know you must do. Yet you're worried that it won't be perfect, that it will be difficult, uncomfortable and maybe even painful.
You wonder what others will think of you, whether they might silently disapprove, openly taunt you, or even work against you. You worry that it could be more challenging and more demanding than you anticipate.
Go ahead and do it anyway. The sooner you get started, the more confident and effective you'll be.
Sure there will be problems. And with solid commitment, you will find a way through every one of them. Of course there will be challenges. And from each one you'll build the strength to take on the next one.
Accomplishment is never easy, and rarely perfect, yet it sure beats sitting around worrying about how powerless you are. When you know you must, then get up, get going, and get it done.
-- Ralph Marston
*******************
NOT SO EASY
Taking the easy way out usually ends up being not so easy. What is easiest in the short term can often turn out to be quite difficult and burdensome for a very long time.
For example, it can seem easy to spend money you don't have. Yet doing so can put you in debt for a long time, and you end up paying much, much more.
Instead of looking for the easy way, commit yourself to going with the best way. Though it may seem easy to complain, it is best to take positive action. Though it may seem easy to put tasks off until later, you'll be much more in control of your own time if you go ahead and get them done. Though it may seem easy to break the rules, whenever you do you're ultimately cheating yourself.
Doing only what is easy leads to a life that is hard. Doing what is best brings a life that is full.
Don't let yourself be deceived by what may seem easy. In every moment, do yourself a big favor, and do what is best.
-- Ralph Marston
**************
Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!!!!!

Have a few minutes - I have been totally fermished, which in Yiddish means: mixed up, messed up! One of the few words I know in Yiddish, but how it so applies to me lately. With all that I'm trying to do with getting MICHAEL ready to go for college, I don't seem to know what day is what, literally!
Yesterday we had a little party for my Mom's bday, as they left for NC Sunday. She was talking about what I had to do when I go to work for 1 week for her and said "but you're not ready to go yet" and I said "what do you mean, I'm working this week!" "Her reply, no, you're working next week!" Well, that's NOT going to happen because that is the only week LAUREN has off and I have appointments galore with her - thankfully, my nephew is going to work that week, I just can't do it! Something else similar happened with me getting days screwed up, but my mind is so screwed up that I can't even remember what it was!
The house is a wreck, stuff piled all over the place for me to pack, MICHAEL to take. This past weekend has been busy, buying clothes for both kids (almost went in to sticker shock today with what LAUREN picked out!) and appointments. I'm tired, really tired. I'm so looking forward to taking him so I can see TRANQUIL and spend some time away from all this chaos!
Until I return, posts by me are going to be sparse, I think of all I have to do and even just taking time to check my e-mail ends up being an hour long event. When I get back after taking him up there, I have a major clean up event around here - not going to happen beforehand, and then, life should be back to normal - :cross:
Hope all is well with you all - miss you more than you can imagine!
Will try to pop in sometime soon!!!
Debbie

Good Morning! Its going to be a busy day! I have to shop for the dinner tonight at the Buford Hwy International Farmer's Market (Kengjw, I will think of you while there!) Then I will have to hit a few other grocery stores to get all my ingredients. There will be about nine here, and the menu is labor intensive. Its not exactly SB legal either. I took half a phentermine this morning, so I hope that helps me with my appetite for non legal things.
I am SO tired! Tom had to wake me up early this morning to fix his lunch. I should have done it last night, but was too tired/lazy. I was sleeping very soundly when he woke me up this morning. I had had a hard time falling asleep last night, so I did not get enough. I think I will try and get in a bit more shut eye this morning before I have to take off. I can't go anywhere until the traffic dies down anyway.
I hope everyone has a great OP day! Don't forget to drink your water!

Good Monday Morning!
Hello all!
It's a gorgeous day here, but it will also be very hot!
I've got a full day of work ahead of me. Didn't get as much done this weekend and I wanted to. I did get a big project out of the way and then I finished a cross-stitch I was working on. It was a picture of a black cat tangles up in the American flag. I did it in honor of Miss Belle--whose b-day is th 4th of July. Will take to get framed this week. My next stitching project is a needlepoint project. Will try to get it started sometime this week too.
Deb--When do you take Michael to school?
Monet--Yum--dinner sounds great! What time should I be over?????
I hope this is the start of a great OP week for everyone!

Good Monday Morning,
Quite a bit shakey today. They knees really hurt. I have thrush again even though I am taking the daily antibiotic. And of course, the constipation. Most people drink coffee on their way to work, I drank 1/2 a bottle of magnesium citrate. Don't think it will be a very productive day. Oh well, at least I'm here.
DD picked up the dog. I was ready for him to go home. I was very irritable and emotional yesterday, so he was on my last nerve. I wanted to clean my house but no since until he left. Now I don't feel like it and don't know when I will get it done.
I was in bed by 9:00 last nite. Felt good. DD slept on the couch since 7 and got up at 9 and we went to bed.
Can't hardly eat. Brought a peach for lunch. Will probably go get a milk shake.
Susan, I ususallyget a new set of nails about every 3-4 months. They are acrylic. Couldn't live w/o them.
nat, my DD had endrimetrosis. She had terrible pain the week before her cycle. Hope it's nothing serious.
Melf, sorry you have been working so hard. Just jump back on track and don't let that 30 lbs get any higher. We are here for you.
Ken, sorry you caught DD's cold. Summer colds are the pits. I just had one. Feel better soon. Jess sounds so sweet. You know she had to learn that somewhere.
Monet, Your dinner sounds like a lot of work. Hope DD appreciates it. Glad the deck is back on it's way.
Rosalie, Wow that shopping trip turned out to be successful.
Teensy, I thought about you all day yesterday. We have a flowering peach tree in our front yard and it has matured enought to bare fruit. Well they are all over the ground and we can't cut hte grass. So I had to pick them up. I gt 3 bags full and the whole time I'm thinking about you picking all the fruit. Realized i wouldn't want to do it.
Sef, glad that call was good news. funny how we react on impulse.
Deb, good to hear from you. Glad when you can get back on here.
Have a great day.
Jackie.

Good Monday morning!!
Dh woke me up at 6.30am this morning to ask me, did I set his alarm for him this morning? I said yes but unfortunately the clock didn't ring. Anyway, since then, I have been up while dh was getting ready to leave for him training. He has a whole week training up in Marietta (closer to Monet right?) so his schedule will be from 8.30am to 4pm instead of his usual evening shift till midnight. I am actually looking forward to having him at home in the evening, for a change. Will be having our neighbor over for steaks tonight so I better get my house clean and tidy. I am thinking of trying a new veges recipe I saw at food network yesterday by George Stella, Low Carb and Lovin it. He used squash, zucchini, eggplant and tomatoes and cut them into half. Season with salt and pepper, olive oil and top with some chopped onions and bell peppers. Last step is to sprinkle some bacon bits and parmesan cheese over the veges. Sounds yummy!!
I am not sure what my menu will be today since I still do not have an appetite yet. Will post that later tonight. I have got to tell you guys this...you probably think I am nuts....LOL. I recently ordered a 5 gallon AGAVE from Sweet Cactus Farms website. It costs $200 INCLUDING shipping. That works so much cheaper to me although 5 gallon is a whole lot of Agave. The good news is, my next door neighbor is sharing 1/2 of the Agave with me. So, each of us paid $100 for 2 1/2 gallon. I estimated that it will last us about 2 years. I know that it can be stored for up to 3 years, according to the SCF people. Just some info just incase anyone don't know this. Not all Agave are created equal which means that not all Agave has the same GI. Right now, only BLUE Agave (from Sweet Cactus Farms, not sure what other companies out there) has a GI of 10 to 11. Agave Syrup extracted from other Agave species of wild Agave (can't remember their names but you can do a search in Yahoo) has a GI of 46. Few companies such as Madhava Honey, GloryBee all carries them. These Agave syrup (from other species of Agave other than Blue Agave is usually cheaper) has a total of 70% fructose only compared to Blue Agave which has 90% fructose. How I found out was after I bought a gallon from GloryBee to try. I had no idea there was difference in GI. After I bought it, I realized that and did some research and found out the difference. I emailed someone at Madhava Honey to double check the GI of their Agave (since they specify in their website that it has a GI of 46) and ask them why it has such a high GI. The spokesmen did confirm to me that their GI is 46 and that it is a different specie. On SCF website, it mentioned specifically that they only deals with Blue Agave and not other wild Agave species which has a higher GI. When I did some test with my glucose meter with the wild Agave syrup, it was indeed true that it raised my blood sugar much higher but not as high as table sugar would. When I did test on SCF Agave, it didn't raise my blood sugar much at all. So, I come to a conclusion that I need to stick to SCF (Blue Agave) Agave especially since I am pre-diabetic. Just thought I share this info with you all.
Some replies :
DEB : Glad to read your updates. Boy...you really need to sit down and do some planning. You are running around and doign things for everyone especially your kids. Are you sure they can't do a lot of the things themselves such as packing and buying stuff that they need? Are they public transport that they can take to certain places?? Can't they help out in the cleaning of your house, if not their own room?? I may be out of line for suggesting all these ideas since I do not know all of you well enough but reading your post, it tells me that you need to take care of yourself especially when everyone else is old enough to take care of most of the things themselves. Please forgive us if I cross the line but I certainly feel worry for you. {{hugs}}}
MONET : Wow, I read your elaborate menu today. They sound yummy!! What a adventurous cook you are. I have never tried Lion head stew but have seen how the recipe was being made. Well, here some smooth sailing shopping trip for you and hope you find everything you need for tonight as quickly as possible. Don't forget to pause and breathe ok? {{hugs}}
Looks like I am catch up for this morning. It's time to start feeding me and dd and then off to work (cleaning and more cleaning!!).

Good morning all...
Trying to staart the week right. Had cottage cheese & blackberries for breakfast & 2 lg cups of decaf. Eating yesterday wasn't too far off program, but did have a couple of cheats. The scale is about 1 lb down from the highest last week.
Jackie, sounds like the chemo is still kicking your butt hard. Sorry to hear that it's still giving you such a hard time. Hope that lovely breakfast of yours gets things working. The thrush sounds rough. {{{hugs}}} to ya!
Shirley, yeap, we must be in the same boat me & you. It's hard to see the scale keep moving up & no will power to do anything about it. How's the shoulder? I have a 2:45 appt today for mine, but it's doing allot better since the cortisone shot.
Got to go.

Hi Everyone
This is just a quick fly by as I am rushing to get out to the shopping mall to do some browsing. It's a holiday here to-day so the stores will be closing early probably 5 or 6 o'clock. I was busy this morning doing laundry and vacuuming my basement as well as some kitchen duties. Now have to jump in the shower and have lunch. I won't have to cook dinner to-day as I am having leftover chicken curry. Which is good as I will be going out to lawn bowling this evening. It is always nice to have an easy dinner when I am going out.
Keng - Thanks for all the info about the agave syrup. I recently bought some of the Madhava and was wondering about the fructose content as it was not stated on the label. When I used to get the SCF the percentage was always on the label. I new some had a higher gi as I remember a couple of years ago when they were having trouble getting the BLUE Agave and had to use the wild one that it had only a 70% fructose content and thus a higher gi. Unfortunately I cannot find the SCF Agave so will have to make do with what ever I can find. Thankfully I don't use it too often - just for some occasional baking but will keep looking for the lower gi one.
Jack-K - Have you ever tried Lactulose (Chronulac) for constipation? When I was working in long term care we used this quite a lot. I think it would be easier to take than the citromag. We only ever used the citromag for cleaning out before surgery etc. It would normally be taken two or three times a day until you have a normal stool then maybe once a day if needed. I don't think you can buy this OTC though - you would have to get a prescription form your doctor. Just a suggestion. Sorry to hear you have the thrush again. But hang in there - just think only one more to go.
Gotta run.
Marie.

GATOR....
Here's a little headline news to keep you going until I get home to post!
CFN.com picks UT over Florida
By Randy Moore
Date: Aug 2, 2004
The folks at collegefootballnews.com consider the Florida-Tennessee game Sept. 18 in Knoxville one of the ''big games'' of the early season college schedule, and they consider the Vols the likely winner.

I'm calling it a day. Stuck it out until 3:30. Just wanted to check in before I left.
Bob, Go vols!
Ken, those veggies sound yummy. I will try them but leaving out the one I don't like. Are your grilling them or on the stove? Didn't know that about the Agave. Wonder which one I am using. Mine are in small bottles.
Melf, I think the chemo is becoming a cummlative thing and getting harder each time. Only 1 to go so that keeps me going. Glad the cortisone is helping.
Rosalie, I see it it Civic day in Canada, Just what is that? Never heard of Luctalose. Might have to ask about it. I have to be careful of what I can take.
have a great evening.

Hi Everybody, and happy Monday. I have been eating on plan since yesterday and feel pretty good today. Things are less hectic at work today..still trying to get over the shock of my boss quitting to become a probation officer. (He's got some power and control issues, IMHO). My gym is closed for two weeks for annual maintenance and I am trying to figure out what to do in the meantime. I went on Saturday to purchase a bike and figured that would help, but they had to special order my bike. Just as well, I guess..it will give me some more time to save money to put towards it. I am buying a bike to train for a triathlon. So far so good on the running and swimming components. It's just way too hot to run...about 100-110 with heat index. Let me know if you all have any exercise suggestions for me.
JackK- How are you? Looks like you have been a real trooper throughout this whole ordeal. Have you tried Miralax? It's a prescription industrial strength laxative. Haha. I have been taking it for about 2 weeks and it did help.
Melf- Climb back on the wagon, Girl!!! You definitely have the "willpower" to do it. Is your shoulder any better?
Rosalie- What is lawn bowling? Sounds like fun!!
Fillise- your craft project sounds lovely, and what a nice dedication/memorial.
Kenj- I might try that veg recipe tonight. Will let you know how it turns out...I am very challenged in the kitchen. HAHA
Hello to Pancho, Monet, Sef, Fruit, Deb, and the rest of the SB clan!!! Have a great day.

Afternoon all of you. I am enjoying the quiet and solitude while dh is gone. The dogs and I are getting along just fine. And I have gotten a lot done.
I am bound and determined to get this last 10 pounds off of me!! I am back to using fit day, and got some info from the BBJ web site on my calorie intake.....I should be eating at least 1600 calories a day. So I need to up it a bit. But I am cutting out all sweets for awhile except fruit. And I am going to limit that to two servings a day. So all the rest will be lots of good veggies!! I really am tired of the yo-yo that seems to be my eating pattern lately. I am printing out a picture of me at my heaviest and putting it on my refer door to remind me of what I will look like if I don't watch it!!
Here is my menu so far today;
B-- 1/2 c Fiber One with 1 oz 2% milk, 1 oz strawberry all fruit. Lite 85
Snack-- 4.5 oz apple
Lunch-- 1 chopped up turkey burger in WW wrap with 2 tsp mustard, 2 lettuce leaves, 1 thin slice onion, 1/2 dill pickle sliced, and 2 med slices tomato. 1/2 c FF cottage cheese and 1/2 sweet red pepper.
Afternoon snack will be grapes, and dinner will be grilled chicken breast (boneless, skinless) fresh green beans and a dinner salad. Probably a SF pudding for dessert. Will post my totals as soon as I get them entered into fit day!!
Here are my replies for the morning......
Deb-- Nice to hear from you. Sounds like you are hopping as usual.......bet you can't wait for a break.
Monet-- I sure hope you went back to bed.....your post was at 4:30 this morning!! You have a busy day today.......get some sleep!! Oh, I figured out all the nutritional info on my jams if you are intrested. By the jar, and by ounce. Let me know.
Fillise-- The cross stitch sounds lovely......wish I was more interested in stuff like that. But I have no patience!!
Jackie-- I am sorry you are not having a good day. Is there any way you can put your feet up while you sit at your desk?? Maybe that would help the knees?? It is easier to pick the fruit while it is still on the tree, lol. That bending over and picking it up is for the birds!!
Keng-- Wow, that is a lot of agave!! But if it will keep for that long......why not?? Thanks for the info, will come in handy the next time I order it.
Melf-- Wow, blackberries?? I am sooo waiting for them to get ripe here. I love blackberries. We are planning on an overnighter to go pick as soon as they are ready!!
That's all folks.....see you tonight!

Hi
Just back from wandering around the shopping mall. Didn't find what I was looking for but did see Wonderbra bras on sale and bought two pairs at 45% off + another 10% off. So paid $20 each instead of $35. Guess it was my lucky day. The last time I bought bras I had to pay the full price. Couldn't afford to wait for the sale that time as they often don't have my size.
Jack-K - Civic Holiday is just an excuse to have a long weekend off and is usually the first Monday in August. It is not a mandatory holiday but most people have it off. I think you can compare it to your Labour Day.
JackieO - Lawn bowling is similar to curling except that it is played on grass not on ice. We have to roll some balls (called "bowls") across the grass to a little white ball called a jack which is placed near the end of the green. We play in teams and the team whose bowls are closest to the jack wins.
Melf - Glad to see that you are getting back on track and the scale is going in the right direction again.
Time to go and put the dishes away, grab a coffee and watch a bit of t.v.
Marie.
