Good morning!
I agree Trish...the weather is awesome! We got in our walk this morning. It's funny I feel like I am cheating only walking once a day. It's a breeze compared to what we were walking. So far this week only about 18 miles. We are gonna walk in the morning and then no more till next week.
Heartmom...WTG getting down to 180!!! I bet next week you'll be in the 170's.
Trish...I am actaully about 2 hours north of Houston. I would love to meet up if your travels bring you close to this direction. Do you have to travel 45 or 59 to get to Galverston?
SuperDave...hope your therapy goes well and you don't have to do it very long. I think it's neat you struck up a conversation with the ladies. Yesterday at the dentist a gentle was telling us all about Germany during the war. It made time go so much faster.
Talitha...quick hide behind me...I won't let Poncho get ya.
Green M...WTG on getting your walk in. Don't think 1/2 a mile aint good cause just getting out and getting moving is AWESOME. More miles will come with time. When I started almost 3 years ago I walked the 1/2 mile to the mailbox and prayed the other half mile home...it was not easy. My legs and back hurt so bad I would lay in bed and cry at night. You are doing GREAT.
Good morning ChrisD! I forgot to tell you the other day how beautiful you are and that your son is a little doll. You are gonna have your hands full when he gets older. Gonna have to hold those girls off with a stick.
JackieO...super on feeling strong and tightening up. Who cares if no one can notice yet....very few people stop long enough to notice...if they did I bet they would. Keep up the good work.
Jenn...sorry your little one has the strep. Praying she recovers quickly.
Deb...woman...you have got to start getting some rest! Rest is almost as important to weight loss as exercise and diet. ((Deb))
Jack-K...hey woman. I am praying for your hip. I'm sorry it is still giving you the fits. Those popsicles are sooo good. My little monkies mixed mine up with theirs so they got them all...LOL
Monet..I love hitting bargins like that..awesome. Bacon sounds good. I had a slice of baby swiss and a cup of coffee. We could have put them together and had a yummy sandwich.
Teensy....I agree...yucky on the mayo. Since I don't use that much I'd rather use something I like the taste of. Enjoy your trip to the lake.
Well, I need to get back to my chores. It's funny how there seem to be even more chores on vacation.
Be blessed and encouraged!
Love,
Crystle

Morning all!
Hootie Hoo!
I thought I'd jump on and say hello before the day gets too hectic. I've already been to class this morning and came back with a huge stack of exams to grade. What fun!
I'm trying to be good with my eating--but like Monet, It feels like it is spiraling out of control. I have planty of good healthy food in the house, but all I want is what I can't have. sigh. this just doesn't get any easier.
Country--is this your vacation week? Is that what accounts for the *only* is miles?
Deb--Hope you get some sleep soon! Thanks for posting Super Dave's pic!
Trish--WTG on taking the triscuits to the mexican restaurants. That's one of the worst places for me. If I break down and get into the chips then I figure I can have a margaurita and then all you-know-what breaks loose! I will try to follow your example!
Chrisd--When I get the pretzels I get the Snyder oat bran sticks. But I find myself eating too many of them so I try to stay away all together.
green rn--that dip recipe sounds great--thanks for posting it!
Pancho--glad the popcorn doesn't seem to have hurt you!
Jackie0--it's nice to see the effort in the gym finally start to pay off!!!! WTG!
Jackie--I sure hope your hip starts feeling better soon! I've been there and know how miserable it is. My heart goes out to you!!!
jecrites--Sounds like you are really having a time with Autumn. I sure hope she gets to feeling better soon!
Monet--Come-on girlfriend, we both have to get our butts back into gear!!!!!
SuperDave--You handsome guy!!!!! I sure hope the theraphy helps. I have bum knees and the physical therapy has always been very helpful to me!
OK--'ve got to get back to work, so If I missed responding to anyone I'm sorry! I hop everyone has a great OP day!

A quick joke...
Here is an early Friday Funny...
El Vaquero (The Mexican Cowboy) and his Chihuahua,
Chilito, are camping in the desert. He sets up their
tent and both are soon asleep. Some hours later,
El Vaquero wakes his faithful friend.
"Chilito, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."
Chilito replies, "I see millions of stars, senor."
"What does that tell you?" asks El Vaquero.
Chilito ponders for a minute. "Astronomically
speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies
and potentially billions of planets.
Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo.
Chronologically, it appears to be approximately quarter past
three.
Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful, and we are
small and insignificant.
Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.
What does it tell you, senor?"
El Vaquero is silent for a moment, and then says,
"Chilito, you silly dog. Someone has stolen our tent!"
Love,
Crystle

Hi Again,
CountryMom4Him Thanks for the support. I live in the counry also but use a treadmill because a lot of dogs run free here. My grandson was bitten a few weeks ago when he went to visit a friend.
TheBigOrangeBabe Here's to walking. I pay a minimal fee to belong to the Fitness Center where I work, Have always had it since I started there, will try to use it for more than fro the occasional hot tub dip.
Fillise I love to cook, my friend at work who introduced me to the SB way of life gave up cooking ate lots of nuts, fruit, and smoked turkey and cheese sandwiches with mustard and sugar free WW bread. He loves food also, and was getting disguited with his diet even tho he lost 35 lb. in 4 months. So when I was told I had diabetes I bought the books (SB and several of their recipe books) and started cooking. I take a lot of portions to my friend at work, now he seems happier as he has began to cook more (loves Meditranian) foods.
To all who answered my questions about pasta, thanks. It seems if I backtrack to previous pages to get your names I loose my reply I have started.
I made myself walk my 2nd 1/2 mile before I posted just now.
Off to work soon, will talk again tomorrow.

Yep, that looks like what I thought Dave would look like. Not a biker dude, but a nice lookin' conservative kinda guy with a white shirt and four-in-hand. Right on, Dave!
Well, I have a nice weekend ahead of me. We leave for Gainesville early tomorrow afternoon. I have all weekend to study for the midterm, TG. So I can relax a little bit.
Have a great day, everyone.

Hello again everyone.
Well they finally got things with Katie's med straightened out so my "trip" to Wal-Mart today wasn't pointless. Autumn kept telling me that she needed a nap and wanted to go home, but I figured if I had to drive all that way we might as well look around in there. I got her attention in the toy dept. I don't think there was a single thing she didn't want!
Some friends of ours had their 2 month old daughter up at the clinic for chest congestion/cold symptoms yesterday when I picked up Autumn's antibiotic. They did a chest x-ray on her, and when the doc was listening to her breathing, he heard a heart mumor (sp). He told them not to worry too much about it right now because it's small. Can you belive that? Why do docs tell you not to worry about something that they know darn well you're gonna worry about it no matter what they say? They did an ekg, and put in a referral for her to see a cardiologist. I'm just hoping and praying that all turns out well for them. This is their first baby.
Jack-k, OOO I need one of those stores around here. I love to shop for shoes no matter who they are for! They finally got the meds straightened up. They probably got confused because Autumn was the one they had been seeing, didn't even see Katie, she just needed a refill.
Pancho, They probably would have started her on the antiobiotic right then if she would have had the white pocket thingys on her throat. I think I caught it as soon as it started because she wasn't even running a temp when we went to the doc. I just know it's pretty darn frustrating to deal with the military at times, and then when you go to a regular doc you don't know what to do!
Trish, Well she seems to be better when she's got motrin in her, but when it wears off you better watch out! Hopefully with the antiobiotic she'll be back to normal by the weekend.
Well I gotta go for now, talk to y'all later.

I'M SO MAD
I could just spit nails. I went to lunch and had a lovely salad with mixed field greens with roasted chicken on top. When I came out of the restaurant, my car was gone!! I thought it had been stolen and then I see a tow truck towing another vehicle from right next to where I had parked. THEY HAD TOWED MY TAHOE!!! Apparently the lot where I parked had always been overflow parking for this restaurant, but there's one little area that is not marked well at all, that is a permit parking area. So I had to call Joe to come get me, go get $132.90 in Cash, and go pick up my car. To add insult to injury, while I was waiting on Joe to pick me up, a bird sh*# on my shirt. Even though it wasn't marked clearly, there is virtually no way to fight these people. It's such a scam. Oh great, I've just written this post and I have no idea if any of you are or are related to a tow truck driver. If you are, I'll apologize now for making sweeping generalizations.
This day has got to get better.
Trish

Crystle - I have no idea how we get there, but maybe we can figure something out. It would be a shame to be that close and not meet up. We'll talk more when it gets closer.

Jecrites- definetly have them see the cardiologist -PRONTO! In babies, a heart murmur is nothing to fool around with, Chances are it's "innocent"- but just in case it's a CHD, beating around the bush can be "costly". Not trying to scare you or them, but I know of a Mom who took her son to the doc and they said it was an innocent murmur. They got a second opinion and turns out he needed open heart surgery within 3 days of the second opinion. It may be something mild that may not require any meds or other intervention. The cold probably made the heart murmur more pronounced- Boogie's is always alot louder when he's sick.
Well, I got my 2 miles in today. I'm thinking about going to that exercise class at Ashley's church this evening- worth checking out anyway. I paid bills earlier today and rented Stephen King's Dreamcatcher. I liked the book, so hopefully the movie will be good and scary. Oh, don't know if I mentioned this already or not- the other day while at the thrift store, I was talking about SB and the weight I've lost. I was talking to this lady and mentioned that it's great for Diabetics. Some type II diabetics aren't even diabetic anymore, they control it thru their diet. So she then says she takes the shot and 3 pills a day for diabeties. She's saying this the whole time while eating Popeyes biscuits and the fried skin on the chicken. Gee whiz. She said she's going to buy the book and look into it. I hope for her sake she does. Gotta go- hubby's trying to call...

Time to go home. I don't know why my afternoons get so crazy. Before you know it it's 5:00. Gonna grill some fresh cod for dinner. Hubby wanted to go out, but I knew we would be eating out tomorrow and Sat, so thought we should conserve some money. Dumb me.
Pancho, Popcorn is my downfall too. One night I ate 2 big bowls full. I was not as fortunate as you, the scale was up.
JackieO, what is the weather there? Are you all still wearing shorts? Do I need to bring a jacket for night time? WTG with getting your workout this morning. I keep thinking I have good biceps, but I'm sure no one else notices.
Green, wtg on getting that walk in. You will build it up before you notice. Deb and someone else have lots of Mediteranean recipes.
Chris, no the regular sd pretzels are not legal. I have seen some that are ww flour. Hip still hurts. Saturday I will get a shot and all will be well for awhile.
Trish, you did great at dinner. Pat yourself on the back. I bought some sf fudgecicles at Dairy Queen and keep them in the freezer at work. Only problem, now I want to eat those instead of my fruit after lunch. What a bummer about your car. Can't buck the system!
Dave, how handsome!!! You sure don't look like you need to lose wt.
Crystle, I just love reading your posts. They truly come from the heart. I almost cried when I read the story about your walking. Now look at you go. It's amazing what we really can do. Cute joke.
Fillise, No, it never gets any easier. Everyday I pass this Sonic Burger place. Boy do I want one. I really want that Margaritta every now and then too. I guess we just have to learn some control and determination. And I guess pray a lot for strength too.
Jenn, glad you got the meds straightened out. Now on to recovery.
Deb, Do you ever slow down? Don't get worn out.
Heart, WTG on getting that exercise in.
Have a great evening.
Jackie

Heart, What exactly is CHD? The baby's mom went yesterday to the insurance office at the clinic to put in for her referral to the cardiologist. Most times they get them in ASAP when it's something really serious. I'll have to call her and see if they have gotten the baby in, or at least an appointment yet. Will they do an ultrasound/sonagram thingy to look at it? Thank you for the info. I'm kind of scared to tell them that it could be something really really serious until after they see the cardiologist though, how do you tell a first time parent something like that without scaring them to death?

Well, this is a rare day. My youngest DD took her morning nap, as always. We went to drop off my oldest DD at school and stopped by Target. My youngest DD kept crying and saying nite-nite all the way home. If she is tired, she will always sleep in the truck. Well, I got home and put her in her crib and she was asleep within 2 minutes. I hope she is not getting sick; she never takes 2 naps this close together. BUT, I am home in a quiet house without anyone needing me. I just told Jack-K yesterday that I could never take a nap since one child is always awake and needing me. I just had a nice lunch and am now getting caught up here. Our weather is getting better slowly. We are supposed to stay out of the 100's now; we'll see! It's not unusual to see a few 100 degree days in October.
JackieO: Glad you are seeing some results with a trainer. If you can afford it that is a great way to go. I see so many people at my gym working with personal trainers, and they are so dedicated and motivated and are seeing results as well. That is what I am looking into doing when my youngest DD starts school. I am looking to get certified in the next few years; I think I could offer a lot of motivation to those who have a hard time finding it themselves.
greenrn: Way to get that exercise in. Thanks for the recipe.
chrisd: Yes, you can have Snyders pretzels, as long as you don't get carried away. The sourdough pretzels have unbleached wheat flour. That is what you want. You wouldn't want it if it was bleached or enriched. Unbleached means they have done nothing to it (all naturel').
Trishaloo: Way to go at dinner last night!!! If you haven't tried the Triscuit Thin Crisps, you'll want to. I like them better than the regular Triscuits. They are thin triangles and are perfect for dipping! OH MY GOSH!! I cannot believe you got your Tahoe towed. That really sucks! I drive a Tahoe too, and love it!
SuperDave: Your picture makes you look as nice as your words make you sound on this board. So nice to put a name with a face.
jecrites: Sorry to hear about friend's DD. I'm sure it is innocent; it happens to lots of people (my older sister had one when she was a baby and it eventually corrected itself), but as heartmom said, make sure they get in as soon as they can. So many doctors send you on your way and shuttle in the next patient as it is not their "personal" concern. You worry about so much being a new parent. I will say a prayer that all works out well for them.
I hope Autumn feels better soon!
Well, better go get ready to pick up DD from school in a few minutes.
Take care all!

EARLY FRIDAY FUNNY!
I hope that this doesn't offend anyone on the board, but I got this through e-mail today and I thought it was quite funny.
Those of you that have known me for a while know that I would NEVER partake in any foolishness like this! Yeah right! It would be my idea! Those of you that REALLY know me, know that I would be the one who is passed out! Then, I'd have to kill my friends!
The title of the picture is:
NEVER PASS OUT BEFORE YOUR DRUNK BUDDIES!!

Jecrites- CHD stands for congenital heart defect- another words a heart condition that a person was born with. My son has a very serious and life threatening heart condition that made him crash a few hours after birth. He's had 3 open heart surgeries, so I've learned alot about CHD(unfortunately). Basically, when they go to see the pediatric cardiologist they will do an EKG- they will put stickers on parts of the babies body and attach wires to the stickers. THis only takes a few minutes, but to this day Boogie is terrifed of the machine(it doesn't hurt), then the doc will listen to the child's heart and respirtory(sp?) rate. THen he will probably do an echocardiagram to see what's inside the heart and check out the blood flow etc... The echo is like doing a sonogram on the chest. While waiting for their appt- please pass this along to the parents-- tell them if the baby turns blue, like around the nose, mouth, fingers, toes- to get to the nearest ER, and if the baby starts breathing fast and hard, nostrils flaring- get to the ER. Also if the child becomes incosolable, stops eating, and stops wetting the diapers. These are all very important. Please pass that along. When these present themselves, then time is of the essence. I really hope that it's an innocent murmur, but better to be safe than sorry in the meantime.
Okay, guys- I went to Ashley's church and did the aerobics class. Man, Leslie Sansone has nothing on this girl! My thighs already hurt. Talk about a workout! It was almost an hour long. I wasn't the slightest bit worried about how I looked- I was too busy trying to keep up. I really liked it -although I couldn't have done it much longer, lol. We used hand weights, the step and did some floor exercises at the end. The instructor only weighs about 2 pounds less than I do, but the way she was bee bopping around, you would have thought she was 120#'s. It's on Tues, Thur, and 8 am on Sat-I doubt I make the Sat workout, lol. Maybe doing it 2 times a week along with my WATP tapes, it'll boost my metabolism. Well, that's all I have to report for now..
