Mornin' Folks
We're playing hooky from church so thought I get a quick hello in before I sit down with the huge Sunday paper. We're having a gorgeous weekend here. Sorry for the rain in SOFLA.
John: Welcome to the board. You'll add a somewhat different perspective to our posts! I started SB Aug. 8 or 9 ( I don't really remember the exact day) and have lost 18 pounds so far. I was down one more pound on Wednesday, but went up and am working on that lb. My goal is to lose 2 more by the end of the week. I'm going to visit my family and want to have a total of 20 pounds lost. They haven't seen me since I started.
I see you figured out the smilies.
Viv: My fingers are crossed for a successful round 3. I know you must have nubs for nails by now. The hardest part of watching our kids grow, is having to experience failure right along with them. My older daughter found out she finished 23 out of 88 sopranos at her hs all-region competition. They only took the top 20 for the second cut. But she had a good attitude. She said, "At least I know I can take rejection."
Chris: Keep your chin up. Believe me, I've been on this weight rollercoaster my whole life. And finally, after all of it, and with middle age setting in, I think this WOL is going to work. If you don't mind, I'd like to send you something privately. Maybe it'll help. Nothing earth shaking, just life experience.
Well, I've gotta run now. Hope everyone has a relaxing day today.
Jeanie

Sunday
Another gorgeous day here- Sorry for the rain, SOFLA ladies. Got in a fast 3 miles w/ Cleo the wonder poodle, then MOWED the lawn (UGH!), my least favorite form of exercise but got real sweaty, then did a heavy 50 minute lifting session.
Only 17.5 miles of actual road work, but I don't count up the exercise bike miles or the tons of metal lifted. Now that would be interesting...
I'm getting really addicted to throwing heavy metal around. I feel so POWERFUL, at least until about 10 minutes after I'm done and then I feel like a jellyfish washed up on the beach.
Had a great time at the lacrosse tournament. My DD's first words to me were "mom! you look so small!". Quite a complement from a kid who's never worn larger than size 4 jeans. I'm DEFINITELY not there yet! And quite sure I never will be. I resisted all the tailgate goodies that all the parents brought except my pile of fruit, raw vegies, cheese, some caesar salad, and grilled chicken. Luckily since we are feeding atheletes that need to be able to play all day long, there was plenty of healthy food as well as the usual tasty crapfood (sorry- I have to think of it that way now). Unfortunatley, I felt so virtuous but deprived, that I ate a 1/2 box of triscuits and spicy cream cheese when we got home late last night.
Jred- Women's lacrosse is a lot like soccer, but played up in the air with a hard ball slightly larger than a tennis ball, using long sticks with plastic and netting cups at the top to catch and throw the ball. It's a very fast game, and like soccer, a game of passing, shooting, and running, with (theoretically) no body contact. The men's game is a high contact sport. Very popular in the mid-atlantic region down to North Carolina (Baltimore is it's US home), but played a lot in New England, California and Colorado and Canada, England and Australia. It's turned into a real "hot" sport because a lot of colleges and universities are adding teams, and it's a lot easier to get recruited as a LAX player than a soccer player, just cause EVERYBODY plays soccer. All over the country, and the world.
Deb- Wish I cound send you some of this weather- you'd be walking all day. Sounds pretty miserable there, but come January, the shoe will be on the other foot! Sorry about the hair comments I did'nt realize how discouraging I sounded. I'm sure you'll look great and from your pics you have great hair to start with!
Sparkle-Good luck with the fodd. Could you add vanilla or almond ectract to that stuff to give it flavor? I gotta say I don't think I could swallow most of that menu. Well, that's why I'm just doing the weight part and sticking to the SB WOE. More power to you Pun intended.
Gator and BOB and Fillise- CALM DOWN LADIES!IT'S A GAME! Not like ice hockey or anything!
Speaking of which- VIV - good luck surviving round 3. I'm always thankful my son isathletically challenged and refuses to try ice hockey, though he enjoys playing soccer. I've always thought the hockey moms had the worst to deal with not even counting the high cost of equipment! Though I sure know how much sports have meant to my kids (even the athletically challenged one)and how much it's done for both of them. Especially the one on a nearly full scholarship. Thank you, Ohio State!
Sef- Glad to hear you're not on the critical list. Keep us posted
John C- welcome. This place may get a bit strange for a guy sometimes, but just chime in and give us your perspective. I've been SB pretty fanatically since 7/24/01 and lost (depending on the day) between 21-24 pounds. The first 18 came off fairly easily, but I've been fighting with the last three pounds appearing and disappearing for a few weeks now. Hopefully, increasing my workouts from wimpy weights to serious metal has something to do with that (or I'm just trying to find an excuse!) I've got between 15-20 more to go, so I'm gonna be at it for a while.
Hello to everyone else- off to Fresh Fields for some legal chocolate(my son discovered my stash and ate it ALL. boy was I mad. I only eat about 1 little finger nail size piece per week, but knowing that it's there keeps my happy. I was ready to kill him. Especially since he was so sick the next morning, there was over 1/2 pound, that he missed school and I didn't find out why he was sick til much later that night. All day I was sooo nice to him cause the poor dear didn't feel good! and another attempt to find agave nectar. I'm not sure I beleive the stuff exists at this point
Mel

Missy--Congrats on the Tiger’s win.
SolShine--My condolences on having a really tough year. I’ve been there. We’ve had an 0-10-1 year not that long ago. Hopefully the dogs won’t have that kind of record by the year’s end.
Missy--Don’t worry. BiG Orange is just a kitty cat at heart. We love each other but we just make a “lot of noise” this time of year. I think BOB is even more ardent than I am! I agree with you about bad fans. I hate that crap too. Boy, I really am sorry we didn’t get to that LSU game. I can’t wait for 2003, when we can get together.
Debbie--We are finally getting your rain. We were on the way out to watch a golf tournament at Disney today and it was raining everywhere, so we turned around and went back home.
John--Your name sounds like a guy name to me, so welcome and congratulations on breaking the gender barrier!!
Sparkle--I agree with the others about the “free day.” If it just sabotages your previous efforts, forget it. You have to find what works for you. Your remarks earlier about how thin people eat were very interesting, and perhaps as you meditate on that more, you can incorporate their WO living with food into your daily life. For example, I bet thin people don’t have “free days.” They don’t obsess about food like I do, and so have nothing to have to be free from. I think “freedom” is part of their WOE. They eat what they are hungry for, but, as you mentioned, eat only when hungry, and stop when satisfied. I think they basically know that any food, cupcakes, fried chicken, or peanut butter is always free for them to have, IF they are hungry and actually want that particular food to satisfy them. So, there is no stuffing on a “forbidden” food to make themselves feel better. I wonder if thin people use other means to satisfy whatever it is that we use food to satisfy.
Well, I’ve got a bit pot of chicken brokwn rice soup on the stove to take to our class tonight. Gotta go check on it. Deb, I think I’ll send the pix to Rosalie.
Rosalie, I’ll send you the pix. I hope they come out. I took them in a dark! restaurant with a flash. I’ll see. If they do, I’ll send them to you to scan and send on to Debbie. You can send me your snail mail address.
Have a great evening, all.

Evening All
Thought I'd get in a quick post before it gets too late and I get glued to the boob-tube.
Didn't do a darn tootin thing worthwhile today-it rained like crazy here again this afternoon. Just went to my Sisters house for my niece's party. Made sure she bought the 97% FF hotdogs, sf bread and 75% reduced fat cheese, which is what I had along with a tangerine and a tiny bit of coleslaw made w/o sugar. Did have a bit of Breyers Ice Cream for dessert, maybe 1/2 cup, which about a 1/4 of a cup stayed down
MEL, you sound like you did a lot of exercise this weekend. Thanks for keeping me company on the exercise board this week LOL! I know you were not serious about the hair thing-I don't take things like that seriously. My hair desperately NEEDS help, it's been since almost the middle of February since I did anything to it, no cutting, no coloring. I'm hoping it's a go tomorrow, I haven't gotten a hold of the guy to confirm yet. Oh, don't I wish you could send me some nice cool weather, I promise, I'd reciprocate in January
GATOR, what ever's easiest with the pictures-we appreciate you taking them!
Okay gals, back to my spot on the couch, I'll see you all on the new board tomorrow morning
Toodles

EVENING EVERYBUDDY!!!
SIZE=4]Don't you guys worry about PHYSICAL CONTACT between me and[/size] GATOR ,
We don't come anywhere near each other during PIGSKIN SEASON I'm MUCH MORE territorial than she is...and would definately bleed ORANGE BLOOD
if given the chance. We have run into some PRETTY NASTY FLA
fans when they come to Knoxville............... especially during the ROUND BALL SEASON They actually come ARMED with big ORANGES and throw them at the team when they hit the floor to warm up! Now, I'm not saying that there are NO nasty TENNESSEE fans, because I've seen them myself..
BUT be assured, GATOR & BOB take the gloves off when they are together!!
LAURIE What's the name of that new store? You know I'll be down there sniffing around if it's that good! We're getting a
WHOLE FOODS store, but it won't be done until 2004..they are really doing it UPSCALE with condo's upstairs and everything..
SUSAN all I can say about your game is OH...MY...GAWD!! I'm pulling for you all to win the BIG KAHUNA in December...I don't think my team is strong enough to make it that far..they still have a long way to go...
GATOR The way they were talking last night on ESPN, we may not even get to play our game...there might not be a need for it... WOULDN'T THAT BE SOMETHING????
DEB GOOD LITTLE AUNTIE....It's raining over here now...I was out and got caught in the downpours this afternoon..We could use a steady all nighter! CONGRATS TO ELI Just think... I KNEW HIM WHEN!!
MISSY I'm so glad you had a good time in Lexington..I had no doubt that you wouldn't...Where did you stay? I wish you had sauntered down into the tail gaters...you would have REALLY had a good time down there!
CHRIS I was over in your website lurking around and noticed that you promote the Official SUGAR BUSTER board and site, but not our board....any reason why?
HEY ROSALIE, J, TREE, MUSIC, ANNE, HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A GOOD TIME MELF. HELLO VIV..How's Dad?
WELCOME JOHN.....WATCH OUT GALS...WE'VE GOT A ROOSTER IN THE HENHOUSE!!
Hope you stick around...good luck on your adventure....
OFF TO RECLINE.....

Sunday evening!
Well I guess Bob thought I would never be back. But here I am even though she keeps calling Bama evil. It sounded like an interesting game. If we could just get Bama to play 4 quarters. Hubby, brother, son and friend were at the game. I was getting a play by play from the guy sitting behind me while I was driving the Band Kids to thier Contest. Congratulations Big Orange Babe . We had a great contest . 31 Bands came . Our Cougar Band got straight 1's. We also was picked best in show, best in class and scored the highest in our division. What a great day for the kids. We didn't get back till 12 midnight. I was so tired this am.
This morning MIL called and said her daugther was taking her to the emergency room. Her finger was swollen really bad. Well they admitted her to give her IV antibiotics. We went up and stayed with her pretty much all afternoon. She should be home in a couple of days.
I don't have the energy or the time to post a reply to everyone but would like to say welcome to John C. Are you the John who posts a lot on the sugarbuster board? Glad to have you with us.
See you all tomorrow.

I was a little bit puzzled as to what you were talking about and kept digging until I figured out that I had a blurb obviously describing this board, but the WRONG LINK.
http://www.shapeshakers.com/sugarfree.html
I'll fix it later on today.
Also have two more links to the 3FC site, one of them quite prominent and described as "Still the best online community for weight loss support that I have found."
http://www.shapeshakers.com/sslinks.html
http://www.shapeshakers.com/history.html
(bottom of page)
The site is definitely a work in progress and any comments/criticisms are most appreciated. Thanks BOB for pointing that out -- I really don't want people to think I'm not supportive of this FABULOUS FORUM!!!!
Love,
Chris
