On the contrary, itís just beginning! What? The most food challenging season on the calendar! Over the next six weeks, weíll be faced with holiday parties, holiday meals, holiday visits, holiday baking, holiday STRESS!

What can we do? The same thing we did for Thanksgiving. PREPARE! Oh, of course, there will be the ďunexpectedĒ invitation, but these will be rare. Most of the challenges weíll face will be well known in advance.

We can eat lightly on the days weíll be going to dinner at a restaurant or at a friendís or relativeís home. We can exercise more on those days and on the day or two after the event. We can drink more water. Yes, MORE water! It flushes the system, and makes us feel full at the same time. We can follow the ďthree biteĒ rule. Itís a known fact that the first three bites are the ones that taste best, anyway. After that, itís just eating to finish. Itís like the first cup of coffee or tea in the morning. That one always tastes better, no matter how many more we have!

If youíre going to a restaurant, you can prepare even better. Go on-line and look up the menu, or, if necessary, stop by to see one. Make your decisions THEN, and when you actually arrive, donít even open the menu. That way, you wonít be tempted to change your mind to something thatís not such a good choice!
Food for thought.

Great advice, Ruthie!

If we think about it in advance, we'll do just fine!

Has anyone else signed up for the Lean Plate Club Holiday Challenge?
