Default A question about goal weight????

I'm sure we all know where we want our weight to be. How did you come up with your goal weight? Have you ever been at the goal weight? Is the goal weight unrealistic?
I'm trying to decide if I am being realistic or trying to attain the impossible.

Through out the course of my life I have learned that at 5'7" with my build 175 is a very good, maintainable weight for me. I have gone as low as 135 and had a **** of a time keeping it that way. Also, at that weight the bones in my chest protrude and my breasts...Well, what breasts? (I'm usually a 34D or better)

I chose the top end of the healthy weight range for my height (5'2"), and I'll go from there. I've been below that before, so I know it's attainable.

I'm 5 foot, large frame, and felt best at 135-140.. that was 10 years ago.. I think mine is realistic, it is over the recommendation for my height and frame, but that's where I felt great.. I also had to think back to what lifestyle changes I made back then.. Primarily Low fat, High exercise, red meat only once a week , and 1 free day... At that time, it took me about 10 months to lose 45 pounds.. I'm looking at getting to 135ish by next July. So, I think that the time frame is doable as well...

It's so hard though! Had a friend berate me the other day that I was at a size 8 and I still wanted to lose? It's funny how I've adjusted to my body change and see myself as chubby again... So my goal weight is 135, but like some of you have said, it may be a hard weight for my body to maintain...

My doctor suggested a range of 125-135 for 5' 3" and a medium frame. I chose 130 since it is right in the middle. Personally, if I get to 135 and feel good there, then that will be fine. I even felt great at 140 so I'll be happy to get back down there.

At 43, I don't want to be less than 130. I think I was around 125 when I was in college.

I usually go by the middle of what is suggested for my height.

At my lowest I was 104 (but I was 14 and ran track in high school) I was 127 when I got pregnant with my first baby. I was comfortable at that weight. the lowest I have gotten since having babies is 130's and I was comfortable.....

I am rambling.....I guess I really DON'T know

I think I need to rethink my goals.........

The smallest I've ever been was 108, and even at 5'3" small frame, I looked TOO skinny. I looked the healthiest, I think, at 125, so that's what I'm aiming for.

About 10 years ago, I was down to 128, but felt overly skinny. I gained a couple pounds and felt it quite easy to stay on or around 135, so that it my goal weight this time around. I did stay at about 135 for about 4 or 5 years before getting super stressed out and gaining a lot of weight.

I was 120 forever. And then I wasn't. I don't think 120 is reasonable for me now (after having two kids) but I will be THRILLED if I get down to 135. Heck, there is a number larger than that which I would be happy to see again, but I am shooting for the big goal, instead of overfocusing on the little goal.

I was at 130 for several years. I felt and looked wonderful, if I do say so myself I'd like to hit that atleast for my wedding day but I'd be happy staying around 135. I feel good there and can do everything I like (hard yoga poses that my body gets in the way of if I go higher).

Well am just 5' so with my frame 120 is ideal. I have been 110 before, but that was in college. I'm now 31. I don't think I could maintain at 110. 120-125 would be just fine with me.

Unlike most of you, i have NEVER been thin in my adult life. I think the last time I was under 140 was in 9th grade. 135 is slightly higher than the range they give for my height, 5'3", but it was a nice even 60 lbs from 195. Right now 135 seems ridiculous and I may never get there...every pound lost is an achievement though.

Well, let's see - I went to about 10 different sites to "calculate my ideal body weight" and here's my conclusion:

By everyone's standards, the max I should be at is 167. However...I was down to 174 at my lowest, and I was a size 12, bordering going into a size 10...I was the thinnest and happiest I have EVER been with my body in my life...and this was only 2 years ago...SO - my goal is to get to 175 and the rest will go from there. Don't rely too much on "calculators" as they miss several key issues such as frame size, how much of your body is muscle, etc. I say go with where you've been your happiest with your body and if you lose more after that then so be it! Good luck!
