I'm on Day 2 of Week 1, and new to the site. Quick question -- the list says we can eat turkey breast on Phase I, but it also says to avoid processed poultry. So, are Healthy Choice roasted turkey breast slices okay? I'm not sure what they mean by "processed."
Hiya Hippy! You'll need to check the ingredients on deli meats... Processed meats are cured or preserved with Sodium lactates/nitrites, Dextroses or other sugars or contain fillers .. check the sodium and sugar contents . I usually stick with Boarshead, but I understand Healthychoice has a new product out that doesnt contain any preservatives... Hope this helps
I find that meats sliced fresh in the deli have less preservatives and are a better choice. Of course, slices of a turkey you roasted yourself would be best...but considering that most of us don't have time to do that...
In phase 1, be extra careful to avoid any sugar...look for words that end in '-ose.'
