Default Hi! New here, not new to SB

I all, my name is Beth, I am 32 years old. I started south Beach a year ago, on April 4 of 2005. did really well on it, then I lost my Mom over the summer and had a real hard time dealing with the loss (Still am actually) I lost a ton of weight, then put on a bit of weight....now I am back down the 20 lbs I originally lost on SB, but am having a hard time sticking to it. I seem to gain and then re lose the same 4 lbs. I start out doing good, then if I slip up with just one little tiny thing and eat something that is not on the SB diet, I figure oh well, I may as well eat more since I already screwed up. So I am here for some much needed support and to give any support if I can.

Lets see, I have three boys and a Dh so really 4 boys. I live in PA, I love animals (I have a ton) I scrapbook, knit and kickbox.

I look forward to getting to know all of you!

, Beth! Glad to have you with us. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I know it's hard to deal with such a difficult time without overeating...that's what we know and so it's easy to go back to. But perhaps this is the perfect time to develop new, healthier habits. I'm sure that would make your mom much happier than seeing you feel even more miserable because of the ways you are trying to cope, right? How about:
  • ...journaling?
  • Calling a friend to tell them how you feel? (or posting here in the forum or in the journals here on 3FC)
  • Doing some vigorous excercise to deal with anger and grief?
  • Going on a hike and feeling close to your mom in nature?
  • Doing some artwork, crafts, or other projects that will help you deal? I went on a scrapbook retreat a couple weekends ago and a woman there was making a scrapbook for her grandchildren. Their mom was killed in an automobile accident two years ago and she wanted to make a special remembrance for them. It was really hard for her, but you could tell it was cathartic, too. And now she has a very special remembrance for her grandchildren that they will always appreciate.
  • Maybe you can go play frisbee or go for walks or even just cuddle on the couch with your pets.
  • Or go to a local shelter or ASPCA to walk the dogs, cuddle and socialize the kitties, or whatever. Giving of yourself is a great way to remember how much you have to give and how many blessings are still present in your life.

All in all, realizing your problem is the first step to solving it. You know how you are sabotaging your weight loss (the all-or-nothing argument) so now you just have to figure out how to stop it! SBD is all about being able to have planned indulgences. You can do that, and even have some unplanned ones, then get right back on plan. You CAN do this, girl! You've obviously done amazingly well so far...most of us would have gained tons of weight dealing with what you've gone through, but you've done wonderful!

Keep up the good work and don't be afraid to lean on us, okay?
