Amen, sizes are just mind-baffling!
Not only are the confusing across the board, but they often don't make sense even within the same brand! I tried on a shirt a couple months ago and it fit well, but a bit more closely than I thought it would for an extra large. I thought it might be a large hanging on an extra large hanger, so I looked...it was a SMALL!!!! Come on, now! The girls are a 36D...there's no way they're fitting into a small...but this thing really was! Can you believe that? Yet there are some L sizes that I can't fit into. It's just totally confusing!
On top of that, the amount of pounds you have to lose to change sizes is totally different in the plus sizes than in misses. I had to lose over 40 pounds...sometimes more, to move a size when I was in plus sizes. Now that I'm in misses, if I gain five pounds, my clothes are tight...if I lose seven to ten, I'm in a new size. It's really odd!
Just goes to show...don't rely on the number size of your clothes to gauge your loss. Rely on how tight the clothes you've worn are, rely on your fat percentage, your measurements, your weight, even...but not on number sizes. They are unreliable!
BTW, Schatzi is totally right about your muscle mass...a maintaining mod on here told me that she had reached goal, but after continuing to lift weights, she lost several dress sizes without losing much weight, if any. Just goes to show...

pays off!
Schatzi, how did I miss these great stories? Please share!!!
Hey, at least Ruth didn't bring in a wagon full of the 30+ pounds of fat she's lost a la Oprah!
