Default My first trip to the Beach.....

Hi y'all...I've been posting on the 100lb Club Board for a few weeks. I was doing a low calorie plan, but my gynecologist recommended that I follow a low-carb plan due to my PCOS/Insulin Resistance diagnosis. So.....I read all about the diet, went grocery shopping, and here I am at Day 1! My fiance is also doing this with me, which will make it easier!

Looking forward to reading more and posting!

Welcome BUT this is NOT a Low Carb PLan. Is this what your doctor recommended?

The South Beach plan includes carbs from veggies and legumes - they are good carbs that are absorbed slowly by the body and keep your blood glucose levels stable. Be sure to include these while on Phase I. Check out the info in the FAQ Section.

While this isn't a low carb diet, it's probably what your doctor recommends. It was recommended to me by my PA after she officially proclaimed me to be diabetic. If I had done this 2 years ago, I probably could have avoided it or held it at bay longer. Nutrition education is the key.

Compared to what i was eating before, "low carb" would be accurate.

After starting the diet i watched my blood sugar steadily go down from 200 to 81 over 3 weeks. You might want to invest in a glucose test kit and watch the results. Some of the drug store brands are not too expensive.

Proud Mother - My blood sugar reads have dropped dramatically too. In the morning I used to be around 120 to 125. Now they're usually in the 80's to 90's. It has made a huge difference!

I just started this SB plan myself and have successfully made it to day 7 and am currently down 5 pounds!!! I have tried diets in the past and never had immediate results before, but I consider this a lifestyle change in eating not a diet so hopefully I will stick with it!! The current weight loss sure gives me the incentive to stick with it!! Good luck!!!
