Default Protein powder-pastry pancake

Hi all,
I posted this in the recipe section last week but no answer.
Has anyone made the pastry pancake in the phase 1 breakfast. It calls for 1/2 cup of vanilla protein powder.

What type/brand of protein powder do you guys use when cooking? I've not been able to find any sugar free ones. Or is it one of those things where we look for no sugar added? I've looked at Trader Joes and Whole Foods Market.

I'm going to Trader Joes tonight and was thinking of picking up a canister to make them this weekend.

Sarah

Hi Sarah, no, I'm sorry, I haven't tried that. Good luck finding what you need!

Sarah, I currently use a whey protein powder mixed with stevia. As I don't know what effects stevia might have on a baby (neither does my doctor) nor how long it may remain in my body, I'm going to switch to one with soy and no sugar substitute, if I can find it. I bought mine in the Nature's Market (health food) section of Wegman's. You can probably find some at Great Earth, if you have one near you. Perhaps Whole Foods Market? I'm surprised that Trader Joe's doesn't have any. Keep searching. Vitamin stores also carry it.

They seem to mostly be made with either whey or soy. I haven't found vanilla SF, but I would imagine you could either add vanilla extract or SF vanilla syrup to the recipe to add the flavor if you wanted.

Our Trader Joe's has their own housebrand whey protein powder that is sf, as well as Designer Whey protein powder. Great prices too.

I think it's I don't know what I'm looking for. There are so many types and I'm not positive what I'd use it for after I bought a huge canister of it. So I've been easily talking myself out of buying it each time. Like this weekend, I was looking at the ingredients, calories and cost and thinking "is it really worth it?"

Thanks
Sarah
