energy boost needed
ok so i have a question. i'm currently on Phase 1 SBD and today I'm really really tired... i mean i'm having problems staying awake at my desk. i'm wondering if there are any energy drinks out there or other suggestions that will help wake me up or give me enough energy to get through the next couple of hours that are SBD phase 1 friendly. Any suggestions, i'm desperate here... i've already went out and walked for about 1/2 hour but that didn't help much.
hopefully i won't fall asleep before i get a response.
cheers

Gee, I didn't expererience anything like that. Are you taking a multi-vitamin? Maybe that would help.

Have you had any caffiene today? You can have up to 2 cups of leaded java. Maybe try one cup to see if it helps. I wouldn't try it all the time but maybe right now to try to give ya a boost.

i am taking a multi-vitamin and my exhaustion is not cause of the diet... i have insomnia (related to my depression) and don't sleep very well at nite so I'm often tired but not usually this bad. and yes i've had plenty of caffiene though not from coffee (i hate coffee).

I had insomnia during my bouts of depression. What you basically need to do is find some way to sleep. I ended up taking Tylenol PM and it knocked me out and I slept through the night, but take it early in the evening (around 7ish or w/ dinner???) or you may feel even groggier in the morning.
Caffeine doesn't wake me up, per se, it just makes me stay awake longer when I want to sleep!
I tried those different prescription sleep aids, but nothing worked as good as Tylenol PM (or the Wal-mart version of it).

I suffer from poor sleep habits with my depression, too. I have a prescription for Trazodone, and take 1/2 to 1 pill once or twice a week, just to keep me on track with some half-decent sleep.
As well as Dragonfly's suggestion, you could try taking a Gravol...

Are you getting enough legumes? I wonder if you are getting too few carbs? Are you drinking milk and eating yogurt? That can really help in phase 1.

No great words of advice. My sleep has improved tremendously since starting this WOE. I hope it has that affect on you as well ((Wytch))

Wytch, try eating some good carbs like chickpeas to help raise your blood sugar. Make sure you are drinking TONS of water...being dehydrated makes you sleepy and caffeine makes you dehydrated. Try not to have more than 2 servings of caffeine a day or it affects your weightloss.
Have you talked with your pyschiatrist about sleeping pills to help you get over the insomnia? Mine gave me a very low dose of Sonata until I got back to my regular sleeping patterns (I had the same problem you have), and it worked like a charm. I only had to take the for about a week or two and I was back on track. Haven't had much of a problem since. Now I take a small amount of Remeron to ensure I get to sleep. Do talk with your doc...sleep is so essential to everything, including weight loss!!!
