Default Oatmeal Question

Has anyone here used oatmeal (SBD friendly) for anything other than breakfast food?

I was looking on the McCann's web site and they have two recipes that look like it will either be really good or really bad: Oatmeal Risotto and Oatmeal Pilaf. Basically you use the steel cut oatmeal in place of the rice.

I have not. I'm not a big rice eater so no rice has not bothered me at all.

Nilla, they both sound really good! I love Oatmeal!

I have tried it in the streusel in apple crisp, and also in bread, but not as a grain. Interesting!

I've used oat groats as a rice substitute before, but not the steal cut oats. For some reason the steal cut oatmeal looks too much like breakfast for me to try it as any thing but...

If you try it, give us a review and the recipe. Might be good to expand my horizions when it comes to food.

Hi Nilla, I used Oatmeal for a delicious dessert but I can't find the recipe. It was an oatmeal cup that you nuked with other ingredients. You couild fill the cups with ice cream, fruit and chocolate peautbutter filling. I'll look for it an get back to you if your interested. Hugs BB

Nilla, if you like the risotto, could you let us know, please? I LOVE risotto... it's one of my favourite "cozy meals".

Default I will give it a try

but I am going to have to wait for 2 weeks
I fell off the wagon in this weekend and yesterday I had a chicken sandwich and a hamburger with some french fries. So, I am back to phase 1 for two weeks and as soon as that is up I will be making a oatmeal risotto or pilaf. I will let you all know how it goes.

Thanks! Yeah, I felt it slipping on Friday so I just decided to go with it and get back on track today. I don't think I did too much damage since most of the off-plan foods I ate were on Sunday.
I did okay today but I caught myself thinking about just eating whatever I wanted today and then starting over tomorrow. I was able to fight those thoughts off and I am sure tomorrow will be much better.
