A question about water

  • I'm starting South Beach on the 1st and I am trying to get everything ready as far as groceries. I know you have to drink lots of water, what about flavored water from walmart? I don't think it has sugar in it but I'm not completely certain. I really have a hard time drinking water, any suggestions would be great!
  • Check the label about the sugar, some of them sneak it in. I drink the flavored waters a lot, sometimes I'll put a little of sugar free flavored syrup or lemon juice in a quart of water, just to take away the "water" taste.

At work we have the bottled water and it doens't taste so bad, I can actually drink it without any problems.
  • I have a Brita filter and keep a pitcher of filtered water in the fridge at all times. It tastes so much better that way, and is easier to drink. A slice of lemon is nice sometimes, too.
  • I'm a big fan of fizzy things, and so I drink flavored seltzers - they are just carbonated water with natural flavorings. Haven't found any that are sugared.

I also really like to float a slice or three of lemon in a pitcher of water in the fridge and drink that during the summer months. I also make herbal iced teas that are calorie-free and very yummy. Pretty much any herbal tea can be made hot and chilled.

But flavored water often has either sugar or artifical sweeteners, so Sarahyu is right about reading the labels.

    Hope that helps!

  • How about Crystal Light?
I wouldn't recommend using it as a water substitute but it's okay for about half your daily intake of water.

A nice twist is buying the individual portion size and mixing it into a glass of club soda.
  • Trying to get in enough water can be quite a challenge... we add lemon, lime and orange slices to our water jug that is in the fridge. I also drink alot of herbal teas..camomille and lemon teas.. try your local health food store and see what they have in stock!
