I the cookbook worth it?

  • Thanks to all of you gals, I've already found lots of great recipes online. So, I am wondering, do I really need the cookbook? Is there anything fabulous in there I can't find here? Let me know what you think of it! (I do have the regular SBD book with those recipes).

    Thanks!!

  • Maybe someone has more advice on this, but when I leafed through the cookbook I didn't see much that DH or I would have time to make or they had lots of weird (for me) ingredients. I am not a big one on cooking, but if you are...just look through the book at Walmart or wherever.
  • Yaya, I second the whole not needing it thing. I have a problem following a recipie in the first place, and there weren't too many that I'd make in the book anyway. The recipes posted here have been my greatest inspiration anyhow.
Would your library carry a copy that you could peruse to see if you like the recipies? You could take it home and see how much you use it?
  • I love to cook and I have made many recipes from the cookbook. I know we had a previous thread where we talked about what we liked from the cookbook. Some of the recipes have been copied to here but not all of the best ones by any means. It certainly isn't necessary but I'm glad I have it. I got it at Target. I think it was 25% off since it was a best seller.
  • Here is the link to a thread where we talked about it: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...cipes+cookbook

I've cooked a lot more of them since. I like:
Garlic and Soy Grilled Pork Chops
    Mexican Lasagna
Meatballs with Tomato and Zucchini Medley
    Filet Mignon with Tomato Topping
Beef Kabobs with Peanut Dipping Sauce
    Chicken and Eggplant Casserole
    Ginger Chicken
    Chicken Capri
    Big Easy Shrimp
    Five Spice Salmon
    Creole Gumbo (really good)
  • I picked it up because breakfast is the hardest meal for me to find something good and quick when I'm tired of eggs. There are a bunch of really yummy looking Phase 2 breakfast recipes I can't wait to try (one more week!). Some of the recipes I'll never make but it did have some yummy looking things.
  • Thanks ladies! I have also been doing really well with the recipes here. So, I think I'll still with those!

  • If you do enjoy following a recipie and trying new things, the book may be good for you. Barb pointed out some yummy sounding recipies. I think it comes down to how willing you are to spend the money (or able to I suppose), and if you will cook from it. I just know for myself I wouldn't use a lot of them and have been doing ok using these recipies here. Thanks to all who post them!
