Drug Smuggling Advice
I hear a lot about Aleve which is not available OTC in Canada. A friend is going to the States next weekend and said she'd bring me some. However, I gather it comes in different forms. Can anybody help me out here? I need to know what kind to get for this torn knee pain and also the approximate price so I can give her money.
Thanks in advance, Smart American Chickies!

Ruth,
If you go to http://www.drugstore.com, you can do a search for Aleve and find the different forms and the approximate price. Personally, motrin (ibuprofen, advil) was what helped me when I was having pain from my torn knee ligament. I tried Aleve once and I had the worst stomach pains I have ever had so it isn't something I can take.

Thanks, nelie. Stomach pains would be a consideration. Hmmmm. Looks like Aleve is also a fever reducer. Maybe I'll stick with ibuprofen (Advil) to deal with the pain. It has to heal sometime, right? I did it July 14 so it's nearly two months now. I may be too impatient!

Ruth, it can't hurt to give Aleve a try if your friend can get it for you. It worked wonders for me following the C-section delivery of my daughter. The DR offered stronger stuff, but OTC Aleve was all I needed.

Ruth, I hurt my knee back in early May (maybe even late April) and I still feel a little bit of pain, but I did do physical therapy and I would've said it took up to last month (3 months after the incident) for me to feel no pain 80% of the time. I also have been doing strength training ever since the physical therapist gave me the OK to do so which I think has helped tremendously. I know we all heal at different rates but the knee is one of those things that takes time to heal. Also, when I was 16, I bruised my knee cap and it took a full 2 years for it to heal and what helped it then was the same thing helping me now, strength training. Although my strength training at the time was that I went to a college that had TONS of stairs.

Thanks, Nelie. That makes me feel better. At 65, I definitely will take a while to heal.

I don't like Aleve either - I always take ibuprofen. Aleve was way to hard on my stomach.

Ruth, you need to do one of those real age tests. There is no way that most 65 year olds are running around doing all the stuff you do with such energy and vigor. I say that your body might have been born 65 years ago, but you have the energy and grace of a 35 year old. Maybe younger, as I'm 29, and I don't do half of what you can do each day!
I am not sure about the Aleve, but if you like it, please let me know...I would be glad to be your Aleve supplier!

I LOVE Alleve. I use it for my torn knee and for all sorts of aches and pains! Although I love the taste of the coating on Advil.
