Wow, I have so many weaknesses, I don't even know where to begin. I actually find more all the time...starches, chocolate, peanut butter, cake, cookies, wasabi peas, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, anything breaded, fried, salted or hydrogenated. When I have something salty, I usually want to follow it immediately with something sweet. Then something sour. I used to let myself believe that my body was trying to balance my diet by craving opposites, but I've always known that was just a crock.

Mostly, I don't buy anything I know I'll binge on. If I'm going out and I know there will be "dangerous foods" readily available, I eat before I go, drink lots of water, and bring my own snacks. For the most part this works out okay. Or I'll go with a planned cheat in mind, for example, if I know there's gonna be pizza I'll plan to have a slice with some diet soda and then remove myself from the vicinity of the pizza so I can't go back for more. Or I'll follow it with a ton of water so I feel full and don't wanna grab another slice. I think the important thing is to plan ahead as best you can. I feel much better about myself for exercising some control and having a single slice of pizza, rather than trying to completely deny myself the things I love, eating half a pie and being upset with myself.

I have two forms of trigger foods. The first fallss into the category of 'if I eat one, then I can't stop." As long as I don't eat one, then I can resist. These food include nuts, chips, popcorn, and nachos. I can have these in the house and the rest of the family eats them.

The second category of trigger foods are more serious for me. They are the ones that make me salivate just looking at them. True to my name, they indulge my sweet tooth - cakes, cookies, cheesecake, etc. I don't keep these in the house, unless they are packed for lunches for the other family members and kept out of sight. I can't personally take the risk.
