Well, the "New to the Beach" sticky thingy said to post an intro, so here goes! I'm not really new to the South Beach Diet. I actually started it back in May, when my mother had a heart attack (a mild one, thank God) at 39 years of age and we both decided it was time to get things under control. I've been using SBD ever since, and it's been working great! I've gone from 170 pounds (at 5'2") to 146. Unfortunately, I'm on a bit of a plateau - I've been at 146 for my past four weekly weighings. I'm reasonably sure of what the problem is - too many cheat meals! In the past month, there've been several birthdays, a weekend trip, a concert, three days at a friend's house, several family get-togethers... Yikes! But anyway, I've been a bit lacking in the motivation department, so I'm here to get my act together! I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you guys, and I hope I'll be able to contribute a little something too, now and then. So, without further ado, pleased to meet y'all.
Hi BigChiefHoho! Welcome to the Beach! I'm so glad your Mom is alright. How frightening for your family. Has your Mom lost weight, too? You're doing so well... keep up the great work, girl!
Well, here's a late "thank you" for the welcome. The day after I posted this thread, I moved to my brother's house (close to work and school), and alas, discovered a lack of internet. That's been remedied, so now I can join you all. But anyway, thank you all for the warm welcome! And yes, my mother did lose weight too, about fifteen or twenty pounds so far.
